This was a great experience and our tour guide was great! It was so wonderful to see the lavender fields and the sunflowers. And seeing them at sunset was fabulous. The stop at the farm was so nice. It was a pretty long tour and I think I would’ve preferred 4 hours in total instead of 6+ hours. It was a lovely experience and I will recommend to others.

Simon was an excellent guide! He brought us to all the best spots — at exactly the right times!!
We visited four different lavender fields. At the first (Les Grandes Marges) we tasted some different olive oils, had some drinks, learned about the different kinds of lavender, and took some photos. At the second (Lavandes Angelvin) we arrived just in time to see the distillation process in action. The next one we visited after our stop in Valensole, and the lavender at golden hour was truly incredible. At our last field (I think an unplanned stop), we got to witness harvesting right at sunset was amazing. The aroma was out of this world.
The “dinner” stop in Valensole was the only not-so-great part — I did the tour on a Monday and almost everything was closed, including the restaurants. There was only one proper restaurant open, next to the Hotel de Ville, but they told a few people from our tour that they were reservations only (even though there was plenty of open seating). There are two ice cream/gelato places, but that’s not really dinner.
So highly recommend for the lavender—but bring your own food for dinner.

Wonderful. The Lavender fields were beautiful. The sunset was gorgeous. Vansole is a darling village.

Due to the heat and some recent harvesting our guide Sylvio found some outstanding lavender fields. The one we saw at sunset was beautiful in the light. Very accommodating to all passengers and knowledgeable of the area.

Spotting a good lavender field is not an easy task. The fields get harvested and the landscape changes drastically over a night.
Our tour guide ensured that we got the best experience. He drove to remote locations and we had the shots similar to few photos on available on Google. That was dedication beyond the expectations.
My personal experience on the lavender tour is to have them late in the day when the sunlight turns orange. And note that much of the pics on google are far from the true vision I think. Camera does the tric that the real eyes can't .

It’s a beautiful tour. Our guide Silvio brought us to really nice lavender fields, 4-5 in total, and we had so many beautiful opportunities to take photos especially with the golden hour sunset slight. Fields were all vibrant purple… it is a must do and now one of most treasured core travel memories. Highly recommended. Silvio was so nice to help return my umbrella I left in the van the next day. Grazie Mille.

This tour was wonderful and definitely one of our highlights on our Provence trip! Silvio is a really good guide, made sure the tour was fun and everyone was comfortable and was so invested in showing us the best fields with the best colour since some fields have already been harvested or lost its colour due to the heat. We can 100% recommend this tour!

The lavender fields were beautiful but the vehicle was unbelievably hot. There were 16 of us in a van with absolutely no air circulating which was very hot. The driver only offered cold water to two people near the end of the trip. Also the highway was closed so that added an additional hour on the trip home. It seems the driver should have known about the closing ahead of time.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Dear Ellen, even if we knew in advance that motorways would have closed, there was no solution a part of coming back later. Please understand we cannot leave Valensole before the sunset, as it is the aim of the tour to see it :) / We stop very very often during this tour, on one side you can easily buy drinks and water everywhere, on the other side more difficult to cool the van if we stop so often. We do not provide food or drinks during shared tours, sorry. Happy you liked the lavender fields, kind regards,

Enjoyable trip through countryside to Valensole to visit 2 family owned Valender farms, both with shops & products to buy. We stopped in the village of Valensole for 30 mins to wander around & get a drink or food. Then to more fields for photos & see the sunset before returning to Aix.

A very friendly tour guide and a stunningly beautiful sunset over lavender fields, truly breathtaking.

Most beautiful sunset scenery I’ve ever seen. (Friends says my photos must be AI because it looked unreal it was so gorgeous). Tour guide Silvio was amazing and drove all over trying to find a good place to watch sunset between storm clouds that had be following us all afternoon. Excellent experience all around

Beautiful experience! The lavender fields at sunset were breathtaking and we visited a couple of different ones with lots of time to enjoy and take photos.

Having a guide taken to the different fields and knowing which were in best bloom and at best timing was great! Our guide was friendly and I formative and we hade a wonderful time!

It was a very nice tour, our guide showed us many fields even before sunset and when it was cloudy and rainy during sunset hour, he tried to find the best lavender field possible for the views and it actually went really well. We ended up seeing the lavenders at the golden hour light with a rainbow on top of them! Thank you Silvio!

There are no words to do this justice. It was everything and more. I was truly immersed in seas of lavender, buzzing bees…butterflies…and the golden sunset. Honestly one of the highlights of my travels over the years. It was a bucket list holiday and this topped it off. Thank you.

The light of the sunset makes the lavender very much more vibrant. It is stunning!
Make sure to bring bug spray, and potentially cover your ankles. I was immersed in the fields but returned with lots of bites. Also, plan the week you go to catch the lavender in full bloom, taking into account if the season has been hotter than usual hence the lavender will be harvested and cut sooner than later. we went July 12 and it was the last day before it was harvested. Next time I would go last week of june possibly. I am very interested in flowers and learned so many facts about lavender. I loved this! Friends did the 9 hour day tour as well as this and preferred this. They mentioned it was very hot during the day and the lavender not as beautiful. Our tour guide was wonderful. We would most likely go again. Southern france is an about gem and cannot be missed!

It was an excellent experience. The views and scenery were spectacular. We visited a lovely village and a few shops to purchase lavender infused items. I was a solo traveler but met several people which made the trip fun. I highly recommend it.

The tour exceeded expectations. The drive was comfortable. Our tour guide had a well planned evening and provided information on the area. We were able to see how lavender is bailed and explained about the essence extraction. Each stop had excellent photo opportunities and the dusk photos are my favorite of our trip. The lavender icecream is the most amazing thing I have tasted. Thank you for a beautiful evening. We found the pick up point confusing, so suggest clarifying with your guide ahead of time

Due to large bushfire near Marseilles, pick up in Aix en Provence was delayed by 1 hour. Guide Silvio dropped by a bakery for passengers to grab some food, then drove to Valensole. Stopped at a lavender shop for some shopping before spending 30 mins in Valensole village. Valensole village was very quiet when we arrived, only a few stores and bars were open. However, we still got to try the handmade lavender ice cream which was very yummy!
Around 8 pm, we started heading towards the lavender fields. We stopped at 3 different lavender fields but only got to spend around 10 to 15 mins at each field, which was a bit too rush to enjoy and take some nice pictures. Would have been better if we got to spend at least 20 mins at each field.
Overall, the sunset magic hour at Valensole lavender fields is amazing!
Mimi_B, Jul 2025
The lavender fields were gorgeous, but much of this tour was spent waiting around for the sun to set. I think it was 6 total hours, while 2 were driving there and back, it felt quite long. It felt repetitive as we went to about 6 different fields that mostly looked the same. I think the 2 or 3 last fields actually during sunset were worthwhile but the first 4 hours were largely spent waiting. Additionally, we wished we’d learned about the history of lavender in Provence or the process of making lavender products or the difference between the fields we saw. That said the fields were beautiful but it could’ve been a shortened to the last 2 hours during sunset.

This was an excellent way to see the lavender fields. We enjoyed going in the afternoon-evening. we would highly recommend.
Paul_P, Jul 2025
This tour completely exceeded our expectations! The lavender fields were absolutely stunning and at sunset WOW! It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime sight. We took gorgeous photos and had so much fun.
Our guide, Nicholas, was wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and made the experience even more special with all the interesting information he shared.
It was a magical evening from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Katherine_A, Jul 2025
We had a wonderful time. The lavender fields at sunset were beautiful, and much cooler than earlier in the day. Jenny taught us all sorts of things about lavender.
Paul_R, Jul 2025
Going in the afternoon/evening was much better than in the day. This was everything I hoped the trip would be.
Margarita_G, Jul 2025
Amazing views and fragrant lavender. We were lucky to experience sunflowers blooming as well. The sunset behind the lavender fields cannot be missed.
Joy_B, Jul 2025
It felt rushed. I would recommend traveling to less lavender fields and only the best ones. We weren’t able to have a drink in town. The tour guide said it was because we took too much time at the fields but I think he lost track of time. It was still very beautiful.
Tanya_R, Jun 2025
Be willing to go alone, and be open to making divine connections in this beautiful space. The lavender is intoxicating and just opens the space for friendship
Tricia_R, Jun 2025
Van ride to several lavender fields - beautiful sights - plenty of time to take many pictures in lavender fields. Wonderful trip - highly recommend
Barbara_K, Jun 2025
While the tour was fantastic and gave ample time to see multiple lavender fields in full bloom, and our guide was excellent, the condition of extreme heat inside the van was unacceptable. It’s not as if the company isn’t aware that this is the South of France and that it would be hot. The driver said that it would cool off, but until the sun went down, it never did. Everyone was very uncomfortable and unhappy about the heat. Even when the group would exit the van at, for instance, the lavender farm, and a breeze provided some relief, once back in the van it was stifling. I believe that there should be an adjustment in the price I paid, given that the tour advertised “an air-conditioned van.”.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Hi Barbara, the van was air-conditioned, but as we stop very often in different fields, there is also not much time for the van to cool off. It is forbidden in France to keep the van running while it is parked, but that would be the only way to keep the van colder. If it was not air-conditioned, it would have been incredibly hot as there were over 35 degrees outside. thank you for the review,
Brian_J, Jun 2025
Nicholas was great - very knowledgeable and dedicated to giving the group a positive experience. Sixteen people is too large for me, I discovered so I’d look for a smaller tour next time.
