Wonderful tour with well educated guides
I did this tour in April and I am back in Coimbra with my adult son this time. Both times, our guides were so well versed and studied. This time our guide, Rennanl, was super great, very patient and gave us lots of interesting information. He was super good. And I like this tour because it's a small group and you get to see a lot of interesting things.

Ancient Roman Settlement at Conimbraga
Alfredo was a great guide and made for a just perfect day. Alfredo has so much energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge of the ancient sites and surrounding areas. This tour is absolutely worth your time and money, and is one of the memorable days that I’ve had in past few years.

Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this tour! Renan was a fantastic tour guide. He knows so much about Portuguese history and was able to tailor the tour to my interests. He was pleasant to have a conversation with and is clearly super passionate about his work. I really feel like I understand Coimbra now. Can't recommend Renan and this tour enough! Worth every penny!

Fun and educational university tour!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. She took her time with us at each spot and had many funny anecdotes along the way!
Although the time allotted in each spot was short it was also short for the people who were self guiding with their tickets. At least in our brief time we were able to get a lot of information!

My family was so happy...
My family was so happy with Anildo’s tour of Fatima. It was comprised of a thorough explanation of the rich history of Fatima, shared with clear admiration and excitement. We walked through some parts of the property prior to the tour, but gained far more insight with Anildo’s tour. Absolutely wonderful.

Spectacular Views, Tasty Treats, & Interesting History.
Meeting place was central and easy to find. Alfredo was friendly and knowledgeable; he made suggestions at the village restaurant to try the local Chestnut treats and liquor and it was fantastic! The village views shouldn't be missed! It was a great trip and I was very satisfied.

A cold day at the convent
On a cold day, the convent was freezing! But the tour was worth it. Our guide Sara was well versed on the history and special characteristics of the multiple structures. There was lots to see - indoors and outside - and just enough places to get warm for a few minutes. So glad we didn’t miss it.

History, Fado, and Roast Pig with José
We joined José’s walking was a real highlight. A former Coimbra University student, José brought the city and its traditions to life with stories that mixed history, culture, and his own student experiences, making it all feel very human and real.
He also introduced us to Coimbra Fado, a more soulful, less melancholy version of Portugal’s traditional fado, unique to the city.
We wandered through Coimbra’s steep hills and narrow streets, ending in the peaceful Botanic Gardens (which made us very happy!). Before we parted ways, José even gave us a great local tip on where to try roast suckling pig. Lunch sorted.
Highly recommend if you want to see the real Coimbra through local eyes.
