Great Value & Experience
My guide was Sandra and my driver was Jordy. Easy to find meeting point, clean & comfortable bus, and perfect guidance on all that is Monserrat. Sandra did a great job in leading our group in both English & Spanish/Catalon. She was engaged at the right level & added appropriate humor along the way. She is very knowledgeable of this destination and gave excellent instructions as needed. Jordy’s driving was great - safe, timely and reliable. Thank you!

A fun day out of the city.
This tour was managed by Castlexperience Wine Tours. Our guide, Mayi, was educational, engaging and fun! She shared a lot of history about the Basílica. When we went to the winery, she taught us about the wines over lunch. Mayi was careful to manage any dietary choices/restrictions. The tour left and returned on time and the bus provided was comfortable and clean.

Great trip to Montserrat.
We had an outstanding trip with our group. Our tour guide Alejandro was very knowledgeable. He was on time which was great and gave us tips on things to do, safety, etc. His knowledge of the monastery was really top notch. I would recommend him for a family group or an individual just traveling. I felt included in his conversations and anything extra that we needed to talk or do he was more than willing to support our needs.

Informative and very safe.
Jordin, our guide was informing and professional. Our group of 8 felt like we were watched over regarding safety at all times. I chose not to go on the one hour hike to the chapel and cross because it was a little steep in places. I would highly recommend this tour.

As soon as we met our Guide Alba, she was telling us about the history and legends of Monserrat. She picked us in a clean car. Very friendly. I would definitely recommend her to my friends.

1/2 day tour
We did the 1/2 day tour and it was wonderful. Nice ride on the bus up the mountain and then off to the winery. Ale was our guide and he was very good and knowledgeable. He made sure to answer any questions and gave us free time to explore. The tapas and wine at the winery were delicious.

It is an amazing religious and historical journey to Montserrat Benedictine monastery. This an amazing destination for us but our guide made it extraordinary with his gentle welcoming personality and also his amazing knowledge of Christianity, Spain, Catalan and history in general. For us it was extremely engaging and relevant.

Best way to see Montserrat!
This is definitely the best way to see Monserrat. The hike is easy to moderate. We had people of all ages on our tour. BYO snacks/lunch. The guides were friendly and very knowledgeable. Important to note that if you want to see the black Madonna up close, you need to buy a separate ticket and that is not included in this tour. My family and I were there for the hike, so this wasn’t an issue for us. You can see the black Madonna from afar inside once you’re inside the basilica.

When to visit

Choose from half-day Montserrat Mountain tours or full-day excursions with a stop at a cava winery for wine tasting.
Trips last anywhere from four to 10 hours, depending on the option you choose.
Montserrat Monastery is wheelchair accessible, as is the cog railway leading there. Other parts of the mountain, including the funiculars, are not accessible.
Bring layers, as Montserrat, especially the top of the mountain, is cooler than nearby Barcelona.
Wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes on your Montserrat tour or visit, especially if you plan to make use of the trail network.
