Visiting the Wolf's Lair is to discover a methodically organized chapter on the delirium of the Third Reich. Walking through those historic ruins in the company of Marcin is to delve into a past that should not be forgotten. He begins by situating us in the geopolitical situation that led to Hitler's rise and, from there, guides us to the reason for the Wolf's Lair's existence, how it was built, and its organization. Marcin shares with us his profound knowledge of history, demonstrates great narrative ability, and richly illustrates essential details about the complex's role, the function of each building, and even the eccentricities of its occupants. And, of course, he dedicates special attention to separating legend from reality regarding the spectacular assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. This tour is essential for anyone who wants to understand how the Nazi machine worked. And in Marcin's company, it will be a richer and more exciting experience.

Great day thanks to our excellent guide, Martin. We arrived in Poland after over 24 hours of travel so we were reluctant to schedule a tour the next day that involved a long drive, but so glad we did. Martin picked us up at the hotel in a nice Mercedes van. We traveled about 3.5 hours to the Wolf’s Lair. Martin has incredible knowledge of Poland, its history, and so much more. We really enjoyed talking to him on the drive and it made the time fly by. The Wolf’s Lair was very interesting, especially since Martin told us about everything we were seeing. We stopped for lunch on the way back and Martin ordered some traditional Polish food for us which we really enjoyed. I highly recommend this tour. Be sure to watch the Tom Cruise movie, Valkyrie, before you go!

We can’t believe how much we saw on this day trip, not only of the Wolf’s Lair but also just getting to ride through northern Poland by car. The Wolf’s Lair was very far from most of our other sightseeing plans, so we were very surprised and happy to find a group who offered this as a tour from Warsaw. On the way back we also stopped at a great local restaurant and had some delicious traditional Polish food, which was also included in our tour tickets. Marcin was an incredible and very personable guide: he clearly knew a lot about the Wolf’s Lair and was great about answering all of our questions about both the Wolf’s Lair and Poland in general. If you get the chance to ask for a guide, he should 100% be for your first choice! We’ll be recommending him and this trip to everyone we know looking to visit Poland.

Long but Memorable Day

I was not sure what to expect, but the Wolf's Lair trip left me favourably impressed. The complex of massive bunkers and other buildings that housed the headquarters for the invasion of Russia is now maintained as a well documented historic site. The retreating Germans aimed to destroy the complex, so the buildings are not as they were, but you still get a good sense of what they must have been like in their day. While the drive is long, four hours each way, Martin filled the time with talk of history, life in Poland and points of interest along the way.

Great Day visiting Wolf’s Lair, Martin was a great host and guide. Car was comfortable and clean. Martin was very accommodating, he knew an abundance of information was amazed how large Wolf’s Lair and the history was great. For history buffs this is a must do. My son and are history buffs and we were excited to find a tour that goes to the Wolf’s Lair. We’re so glad we did! Martin, our guide was phenomenal. His knowledge of the site and WWII in general is vast. He patiently answered my son’s and my young daughter’s fast and strange questions! I knew of the lair before but did not expect it to be that large and complicated. A small tip, watch Tom Cruise’s “Valkyrie” (2008) before going to the lair. It’ll make your visit much more interesting.

Our guide Marcin was incredible. He knew the history, he was passionate and dynamic. He understands the geopolitics of the present and the past. He gave plenty of examples but never inserted his own politics. He asked a lot of questions and was very engaged and entertaining.

History at its Best

This tour is steeped in history. If you want to experience a World War II location you cannot get better than this. My guide opened my eyes to the world of the Third Reich and it’s leaders where they were headquartered for much of the war. It is the site of the most important attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler. All the exhibits were excellent. If you want to walk among some history and experience it all in a beautiful setting I highly advise you to experience this tour. My guide could not have been better. He was an historian and was able to answer all my questions. He added so many historical stories and made the whole site come alive. He was one of the best tour guides I have ever had. I have taken about 600 Viator tours and this guide and tour is one of the best I have ever had.
