Itinerary

After pickup at your Warsaw hotel, you’ll greet your guide and board a minivan destined for the town of Malbork. Perched prettily on the Vistula delta, Malbork Castle is a 13th-century fortress famed for being the largest brick building in Europe.

On a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed castle, you’ll visit its vast courtyard, admire the elaborate décor of the Grand Master’s Palace and see shining suits of armour and amber.

Once you’ve discovered the castle, choose to take a 2-hour tour of either Gdansk or Sopot. In Gdansk, stroll beneath the richly decorated Golden Gate, browse the Long Market and absorb the historical charm of Artus Court, shrouded in 16th-century legends. Marvel at the vibrant façade of the Dutch House, capture photographs of the famous Neptune’s Fountain and revere the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the largest brick church in the world.

Alternatively, head to Sopot — a picturesque gem located on the rugged Baltic Coast — and amble along the Heroes of Monte Cassino Street. Wander to the end Sopot’s seemingly interminable pier, capture photographs of the unusual Crooked House and admire the lighthouse, home to a collection of sculptures and stained glass windows.

Your tour concludes with drop-off at your Warsaw hotel.

Wotjek was our guide for...

Kristi_B, Jul 2025
Wotjek was our guide for a 10 hour day, from Warsaw to Gdansk with a side trip to the fortress at Malbork. All of the trip was informative and entertaining. Wotjek was very knowledgeable, sociable, a great conversationalist and never in a hurry, allowing us enough time to see and learn all we wanted. The day went by very quickly as we were always engaged and talking. We were very fortunate to have him as a guide and I would strongly recommend him.

Very Informative, Overall Excellent Tour

Thomas_Z, Aug 2024
To be honest, I almost did not do this tour because of the cost. However *I am so glad I did* as it turned out to be one of the highlights of my 2-weeks in Poland! I signed up for a daytrip and got a master class in Polish history. As informative as Voitec was, he was also very friendly and easy to understand and talk to. Malbork Castle and Gdansk are must sees for any visit to Poland. The only downside, it is a very long drive from Warsaw to Gdansk and makes for a long day-- but it is definitely 100% worth it.

Great Trip

Samuel_M, Jun 2024
We had a great trip to the city of Gdańsk and nearby Malbork Castle, an amazing large brick structure full of history. It took a little over three hours driving each way, but the driver made the trip very pleasant, who took care of every details, from stops for coffee to tickets for castle. We are also grateful to the Gdańsk tour guide who’s very friendly and knowledgeable of the city, and the driver who accommodated our extra needs, such as a different pickup location and a suburban monument to visit. It’s highly recommended if you need a one-day tour of Gdańsk from Warsaw.

Great way to spend a day while visiting Warsaw

Bryan_M, Apr 2023
Great day trip from Warsaw. Thanks to Jesper from AB Poland Travel for setting everything up for us. Getting to see Malbork Castle (the largest castle in the world) was quite the sight! Following that with a traditional Polish lunch and tour of Gdansk was for sure a trip highlight. We hope to make it back to Gdansk one day to spend even more time.

Tour of Malbork Castle and Polish Countryside

Stuart_N, Nov 2021
I really enjoyed traveling through the Polish countryside and the Marlboro Castle was amazing - huge!

Disastrous Day

mnggregor, Nov 2019
Destinations were excellent, the driver/guide, Robert, was terrible. No flexibility, communication or local information. We wanted to drive by the Baltic Sea and the shipyards, however, because of Robert's inflexibility we were not allowed to do this. We paid for a private tour and ended up with a third person. The third person did not cause any problems, the negative issues were a result of Robert's attitude. We would like a full refund.

Response from Host, Jun 2020

Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with the tour. Please let us explain the situation. To begin with, we checked your booking and it turns out you booked a group option, not a private one. That is why you shared the car with the third person. For your comfort we provided you with a big saloon (sedan) car. In accordance with the tour plan, you spent 3,5 hours in Malbork in the morning and 2 hours in Gdansk in the afternoon (guided city tour). During our regular group tours the program in Gdansk is fixed and includes the area of the Main City. The shipyard you mentioned is far away from the city centre, in the opposite direction than Warsaw. So there was no time left to explore it. The detailed program is available in the tour description. If we had known in advance your special wishes we would have planned an earlier departure from Warsaw. Anyway, we hope you will give us the second chance in the future. Please contact us for a special offer if you happen to come to Poland again. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Poland overall. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly via email available on our website.

Gdansk & Malbork tours

Jackie_B, Sep 2019
Malbork self guided audio tour, which I liked so we could tour at own pace. Gdansk was beautiful and Michael added many colorful details. Przemek was, our driver was very kind and thoughtful. Stopped whenever we needed a break. Always on time

Malbork Castle and Gdansk.

Paradise822973, Jul 2019
Our driver Robert was great. During our drive he provided insights about the culture of Poland and more. Malbork was state of art using headset/GPS to guide you without trying to listen within a group. Wonderful! Gdansk and our guide Joanna brought to life this seaport city. As I stood on the bridge my mind wondered to Venice as this city has many of the characteristics save the gondolas. Both of these locations are must visit when in Poland.

strange visit

Samuel_C, May 2019
The city was interesting and the visit to Malbork Castle was excellent. The driver was excellent. The tour guide we had in Gdansk was knowledgeable and was able to provide considerable historic perspective, but his glaring prejudices against Jews and Turks and racism made the entire tour uncomfortable. Disappointed that we were not able to drive to shipyards where revolution began, but political parades on election day precluded it.

Ross B, Jun 2017
This trip is not to be missed. It's a 4-hour drive from Warsaw but well worth it. Our driver, Pawel, was friendly and accomdating. Our guide in Gdansk was 92 year-old Stefan who regaled us with wonderful stories about this magical city.
