Please be at location 30 minutes before departure. Meet us at our base at Sólheimajökull Parking Lot. Driving time from Reykjavík is 2.5 hours. Drive along Road 1 on the South Coast, then take a left turn on Road 221. After ca. 5 minute drive, you will reach the starting point.

We had an amazing time kayaking the Sólheimajökull Glacier Lagoon. Fernanda was a great guide! She explained the history of the area and shared lots of interesting facts, including why the ice looks blue. The dry suits worked very well, keeping us from getting wet, and the paddle wasn't too challenging. Fernanda did a safety briefing before we got into the water, which was helpful and clear! Being out on the water and seeing the glacier up close (but not too close!) was a truly breathtaking experience. We would definitely recommend it.

Daniella was an amazing guide. She knew so much about the glacier and the environment. All of the logistics ran very smoothly. There was a good balance of activity and time to experience. Definitely an Iceland must!

We were the only two people in the tour. We each had our own kayaks. It was windy but we were able to kayak around some icebergs. The view of the glacier from the water was out of this world!!!!

This was a very peaceful way to see the glacier and ice bergs up close and away from the crowds. I really enjoyed the overall experience and tranquility of it. Our guide Carla Paz was very friendly, informative and easy going - loved having her as our guide!

It was beautiful but the guide was very strict and scolded people repeatedly for trying to be helpful and put kayaks in the water, or putting gear on independently, and other stuff. There is a nice way to say things- and she was uptight and borderline rude. It put a damper on the whole experience.

We went with Sebastian who was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about the glacier past and present history. He stopped the kayaks several times and offered to take pictures for us. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and we would recommend Sebastian for any tour he gives.

Such a wonderful experience! Being up close to icebergs with the glacier as a backdrop is incredible. Fernanda is an amazing guide taking extra time to teach while we explored many aspects of the lagoon. She is also a great photographer and make up artist with the lava mud pulled from an iceberg.

We had a great time. We are semi experienced at kayaking, but our guide, Sebastian, was super knowledgeable, and helped guide our group to the safe places to be. The glacial lagoon was beautiful and we learned a lot about the science of glaciers and how they are being impacted by the changing environment.

Awesome experience! The price is on the high side but definitely one of the most memorable tours in Iceland. We even get to taste the ice from some smaller icebergs!
All the gears down to the gloves were provided so you don’t have to prepare much. During the summer months you don’t even need a jacket as the wetsuit is enclosed which blocks out most if not all the windchills.

What an awesome time! Fernanda was a wonderful guide. She gave lots of cool history and facts about the glacier and made sure I had a great time on the trip. Plus, they give you a dry suit and booties so you stay warm and dry the entire time.

We really enjoyed this tour, but would have appreciated a little information regarding the glacier (we had to ask our own questions for the most part) and would have also liked to have a little more freedom to kayak around. Otherwise, great experience!

My friends and I booked this excursion for our week long Iceland trip and we are so glad we did!! Sebastian was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable and friendly and very hands off letting us row around and touch the icebergs. You are provided a suit and have everything you need to be warm and comfortable during the activity. Would recommend this and would also do this again!!

Really cool to kayak close to icebergs and even touch them. They provide a drysuit with boots & gloves, but wish I could have used my own gloves as the ones they provided had holes and were soaking wet. While I enjoyed the kayaking, the "little hike" to the water is about 1/4 mile and painful on the feet as you are walking in thin rubber booties, and there's no actual 'path.' The volcanic rock and pebbles lay as nature put them, an some are sharp and jagged. Several times, I almost fell and I found it really painful to walk both there and back. It's quite a trek actually. Would be great if they added an ATV to cart people down to the water and back. Also, it felt a bit too long and would have been great just doing the icebergs rather than going toward the Glacier which we couldn't get very close to anyway for safety reasons. It also does take some effort to paddle against stream, so be ready for a mini-workout. However, I think if you don't mind a nearly barefoot hike over lava rock, it's worth doing!

We had an amazing time. Fernanda was an excellent guide.
