Wealth of knowledge in a short period of time. Just enough to not be exhausted and overwhelmed yet satisfied in having seen and understand what Versailles once was. Our tour guide was geeat!! Sure crowds are a pain, but so is every other worthy site. We came in March and it was not as bad as summer.

Tour was really fun and informative. Great coverage of history and appreciation of the architecture of Versailles. The guide (Tiffen) had a robust understanding of the history of the castle and French Monarchy.

Excellent! Guide was knowledgeable, insightful, kind, and passionate. Highly recommend! Even with the crowds!

This was my 5th time here and by far the worst. I have had several tour guides and this one ruined it for us. They just spoke about paintings and were extremely annoying with asking questions from the group (which was way too large) and waiting forever for people to guess. We ended up leaving the tour half way through as it was so awful.
Robin_O, May 2025
Our tour guide was awful. They had a background in art history so they spoke at length about specific paintings and painting technique and not about the palace or its history. It was so bad we left the tour after an hour.

Go early- get a private tour guide. Tour the gardens- lots of walking and standing… insane amount of time- go off season when crowds less likely. allow all day and take time to view the extra palaces…. extra ticket.

Versatile is an absolute must-see! Our guide was knowledgeable and bubbly and wonderful. The tour was packed which is both regrettable and understandable.

It was amazing- I had not appreciated how vast this place is. Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes- you walk a long way. Long queues for a drinks and not much choice of rest opportunities to sit down-better to go out of the palace and get something there

The tour guide was a no-show and did not pick up their cell phone. Worst experience. The local company that runs tours of Versailles was fantastic to accommodate us on a last minute basis.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Hi Eric,
I'm very sorry for this experience. A no-show from a guide is completely unacceptable, and I understand how frustrating this must have been for you. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and I will be looking into what went wrong to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Please reach out to us directly (with the booking reference number and full name of the lead traveller), and we’d love the chance to make things right.

Isabelle was our tour guide and absolutely wonderful. Very informative and the radios worked great. The palace is indescribably beautiful and HUGE. We walked some of the gardens and took the little train to and from the Trianons. It was off season so the fountains weren’t on but so nice because the crowds were much less and it was pleasantly cool. Wear good shoes and charge your phones!

Fabulous tour of palace and gardens. Sergio was a wonderful guide--extremely knowledgeable about history and art. Highly recommend.
Michael_K, Aug 2024
Our tour guide, Sergio, was amazing! He brought the palace alive by explaining the history and the art work. He made sure the tour was accessible and enjoyable to our entire group.

The Palace of Versailles is a don’t miss item while in France. However, a native Spanish speaking tour guide whose English is not understandable is a bad way to go. She was cute and engaging but I had to concentrate super hard to understand her. And she uses the same phrases again and again and again. Claudia was not a good tour guide for me.

Wonderful experience ! Skip the line works for first part and then you have to wait to get in . But would prefer some more tour of gardens
Arlene_L, May 2024
Wonderful time! Hall of mirrors was a highlight. The gardens were worth visiting! Enjoyed the stay!!
