Our tour guide Frank was AMAZING! Funny, super knowledgeable, and proud of the history of Tulum. We made frequent stops to learn something new about our surroundings, and got to take in the beauty and culture. The taco stop had some of the best tacos I’ve ever had, the Mayan Ruins were gorgeous, the bee farm was fascinating, and the cenote was so refreshing at the end. Highly highly recommend!!!

Amazing, authentic experience

Jamie_M, Oct 2023
Our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed experiencing Tulum in a more authentic way, with the guidance of an experienced local. This bike tour is not for those that are uncomfortable on a bike in a city. We were fine, but the couple with us had a lot of trouble navigating the busy streets on their bikes so I wouldn’t recommend this tour to those that aren’t 100% comfortable on a bike. Otherwise, it’s an amazing experience and I highly recommend!!

Hi Jamie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We appreciate it.

Ideal for adults / experienced cyclists

Sarah_S, Apr 2023
Great tour for adults. We had a group of 15 people on the tour and it ran about 7 hours total. Overall distance covered was approx. 15 miles between the biking and walking (mostly biking), so I’d only recommend this for those that are prepared for this level of physical activity. It is also only ideal for those who are very comfortable on a bike since you travel on busy city streets, country roads, and some areas with just gravel (slippery, difficult terrain on a road bike). I wouldn’t recommend this tour for kids or young teens. You spend a significant portion biking through the city and it is not in fancy tourist areas. You’re in the real parts of the city where people live, as well as country backroads. You eat at a legitimate taco restaurant in the inner city, not a tourist spot. It would be called “a hole in the wall” in the US, so just know what you’re getting in to. This is not a tour for those that are uncomfortable experiencing the real Tulum or those looking for a luxury, pampered excursion. The guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a co-guide that assists with crossing busy roads and keeping the group together.

Great way to see Tulum Ruins

lana1227, Mar 2023
This is a wonderful way to see the Tulum ruins and spend the day. The bike riding is a great way to tour, so nice to not be stuck I am van or car all day. Our guide Ursula was wonderful , she was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. We really enjoyed being able to visit the ruins with her and have the information about what we were seeing. She made the day. The taco lunch and bee hive visit feels so special and we enjoyed that and the dip in cenote is perfect way to end the tour. Really great day.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

Hello Lana, Amazing that you enjoyed the Tulum ruins, the bees foundation and you loved biking around the streets of Tulum keeping the form. Your guide was awesome and hear that she made the day special make us very happy. Take care.

A must-do tour if you enjoy biking.

Christine_S, Jan 2023
This tour was much more than I anticipated. Our tour guide Carlos was very knowledgeable in regards to Mayan history, the landscape and people. He gave us tips on where to eat in the city. Not only do you see the ruins and denotes but you also get to see the city, art and where honey is made. We were able to sample local high quality honey used for medicinal purposes. And puppies! He made our tour very fun. Be prepared to do a lot of biking as it takes 20-30 sometimes to get from one place to another. The terrain very bumpy and difficult in some areas.

Response from Host, Feb 2023

Hi Christine, We are delighted to read you really loved the Tulum visit by bike through the streets and cenote with your qualified guide in history and Mayan culture, which he showed his knowledge in the Tulum Ruins. See you soon on wheels!

A Fun and Informative Start to our Tulum Trip

Amira_M, Jan 2022
We had an amazing time biking through Tulum with our tour guide, Niko, who was knowledgeable, patient, and engaging. Every part of the trip was delightful - from our early morning visit to the ruins at Tulum, before the crowds, to our lunchtime taco stop at a shop in town (they were delicious), to a beautiful and low-key hotel where we learned about the sacred, and unique, bees of the Yucatan, to finally swimming in a nearby cenote in the afternoon. Throughout it all, Niko told us the history of the Mayan people who lived here, gave us a great abundance of information about the geology and ecology of the area, and guided us with ease through the city of Tulum. This tour is suitable for anyone who can ride a bike with relative ease as the biking and walking does not require too much stamina or fitness. The total mileage was probably less than 10 miles, and it is broken up into short stretches so you don't have to work too hard at any point.

Response from Host, Feb 2022

Excellent day

Drew_R, Apr 2021
Juan Carlos was a great guide, very passionate about his job and keeping the history of the ruins packed with information yet clear and concise. I felt safe the entire trip and he was also very attentive at making sure the entire group was safe as well. The tacos were delicious!! Neat history of the Mayan bees and the cenote swim was timed perfectly after a hot bike ride (not too long though don’t worry). Definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking for a little exercise and culture.

Bike Tour in Tulum

Rebecca_b, May 2019
My husband and I did the 5 hour Bike Tour recently in Tulum and we had a great time. Our guide Said was very knowledgeable and friendly. The early start at 8AM was perfect, to beat the heat and the crowds at the Tulum ruins. The stop for tacos was nice and the cenote swim at the end was fantastic!! Tip: Bring a hat, sunscreen and a towel.

Response from Host, May 2019

Thank you! So happy you enjoyed the day with us.

My wife and I did the bike tour with...

Lee R, Apr 2017
My wife and I did the bike tour with Ivan. He was incredible! Knowledgeable on Tulum and a true world traveler speaks 4 languages! He's exactly the type of guide you want and need. Word of caution though, if you're not in ok shape, you might struggle through the bike ride. Its all flat ground, but you bike through the entirety of Tulum. You don't want to miss any part of it! Start in downtown, bike to the ruins, then to grab lunch at a hidden local spot spiciest tacos I've had in Mexico, on to a mayan temple, cemetery, bee keeper, and finally an amazing and clear Cenote. I still don't know how we packed so much into 5 hours. You have to do the entire thing. Don't give up on the bike ride! Lastly, Iguanas are basically lizard squirrels. Don't be a tourist snapping shots of squirrels.

Tulum by bike

Response from Host, Apr 2022

Merci beaucoup Deborah pour ce superbe retour d'experience. Nous sommes heureux de lire que vous avez passé une belle matinée à Vélo avec notre super guide, à découvrir Tulum. Nous espérons vous revoir bientôt !
