Learn something new—and explore the Arctic landscape in a more active way than other tours—at this small-group cross-country ski lesson in Tromsø, designed for beginners. Follow a program developed by Olympic champion Erik Valnes, with exercises to help with balance. Please meet us at our white van with the SkiTromsø logo, parked in the lot between the small dark-red house and the large red sports hall (Tromsøhallen). The van will be clearly visible and your guide will greet you there. There is parking right next to the van aswell.

We had a fantastic time learning to cross country ski with Nikita and his colleague. I had alpine ski'd before but my wife had never ski'd in her life. This tour is extremely beginner friendly, putting us both at ease. The only potential way it could have been improved is if we got off the beginner run a bit sooner but I understand the team needs to cater for all experience levels.

Loved it! We had never skied before but coming to Tromso having just watched the Winter Olympics inspired us to try this proper Norwegian sport. It was so much fun! We were taught some basic techniques and, after a bit of practice, got to ski around a trail, briefly stopping for a much needed break with a delicious hot drink and snack. The guides were so helpful, encouraging and attentive, ensuring everyone felt safe and had a great experience. We would definitely do it again and would 100% recommend SkiTromso to anyone visiting the city!

The tour guides/instructors were very kind, thoughtful and patient. It was our first time cross country skiing and they helped provide and familiarize ourselves with the gear.
Since they had 2 guides available during the training, they were able to accommodate different beginner levels as the class continued on.

Both guides were great at teaching one how to cross country ski. Patient and watchful, guiding the group through foundational training. Equipment was clean and professional. I would do this again!

Really great activity! They provide everything and were super helpful. By the end we were skiing well and even tried some harder routes.
I also attended a session the week before, felt unwell and had to leave. They let me rebook the following week with my partner too for no additional cost (myself, we booked new for my partner) and were very helpful with it.

Perfect beginners introduction to cross country skiing. We started with basics, the instructor offered useful instructions and was patient with the beginners. There is ample opportunity for more experienced skiers to learn more. Highly recommended.

I would like to start by saying that we had a great experience. Our instructors were Hans and Filip. It was my first time skiing while my wife had tried it once before. Both the instructors were super patient and supportive. The equipment was top class. The tracks we did were pretty good. Overall we had a wonderful time and definitely recommend to everyone!

This was our first ski lesson, and my kids really enjoyed it, especially my daughter. At the beginning, they didn’t even know how to put on their ski boots, but by the end of the lesson, both of them were able to ski down the hill, which truly impressed me.
The two ski instructors were extremely patient and helpful, although we unfortunately forgot to ask for their names. It was a wonderful experience for our whole family. Highly recommended!

Fantastic cross-country skiing experience in Tromsø. The coaching was clear, patient and encouraging, which made it easy for our group of four adults to progress and enjoy the session. The ski track was beautifully prepared and the surrounding Arctic landscape at sunset was stunning. The local snack with warm berry juice was a delicious and authentic touch. Overall a great, well-organised tour that is 100% recommended for anyone visiting Tromsø.

Got up early and paid for an uber to the start location. Guide couldn’t get the van door open so just cancelled it. What a waste of time,

Hi,
We are truly sorry for the short-notice cancellation and fully understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after making the effort to arrive early.
Both of our guides were on site more than 30 minutes before the scheduled start time and did everything in their power to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, an unexpected failure in the vehicle’s central locking system made it impossible to access the compartment where the equipment was stored. Without proper equipment, we could not safely proceed with the tour. This situation has never occurred before, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
All affected guests were offered a full refund or the option to rebook for another day.
We are sorry for the impact this had on your plans and hope we may have the opportunity to welcome you back to SkiTromsø in the future.

I had a great experience! This is my first time skiing and the instructors, Simon and Sevat (apologies if I got the name wrong), did a great job in explaining. Very friendly and professional. They kindly accompanied my friend who required more help with the lesson while I could practice and explore on my own pace. We enjoyed a warm blackcurrant juice and a Norwegian snack mid-lesson. The lesson was long enough to feel satisfied but not too long because it’s quite a cardio!
Although the meeting point was a bit confusing because there’s no signage or similar (and it was dark during winter). It would be nice if it’s clearer. But overall, a great experience.

The BEST experience. Jakob and Eric are the best guides and instructors. They are so patient, helpful and skilled. They give off great vibes. It’s like spending the afternoon with friends. There’s lots of businesses that offer this experience in Tromso but I strongly recommend you book these guys. I started off with zero skill, could barely stand up. By the end of it I was flying (probably not but felt like it)

We had the most wonderful tour with these very experienced guides who gave us such personal care and went out of their way for us to have a good time. The activity was made so easy to take part in and enjoyable for everyone in our family. The added bonus was chatting away with the guides like old friends in our small group. Highly recommend this as an activity to add to your time in Tromso!
