Itinerary

Meet and greet the local tour guide and the rest of the small group near the front entrance of the Village by the Grange in downtown Toronto. There will be a brief introduction to Toronto before beginning the approximately 3.5-hour ride around Toronto’s eastern islands.

The tour begins with a brief ferry ride across the Inner Harbour to the eastern Toronto Islands, where bicycles are preferred in this, the largest car-free community in North America.

See historic landmarks like the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, the oldest existing lighthouse on the Great Lakes and one of Toronto's oldest buildings, and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, one of the world’s oldest and largest yacht clubs. Then stop for dessert at an island café and admire Toronto’s waterfront parks and beaches as the sun sets and the city skyline lights up for the evening.

Throughout the tour, the guide will provide information about the history of the islands over the past 200 years as well as its role as a residential community, recreation spot, transportation hub, scenic retreat — even a sporting facility.

The tour ends back near the Village by the Grange.

This was a lovely ride through the Toronto Islands. The first and last parts of the tour are on the bike lanes downtown but really quite safe. Our tour guide Jenny was very helpful and knowledgeable with many interesting stories and information. We really did enjoy the experience.

Great narrators with Islands history. Though they should have warned us we stopped at a nude beach. Some things can't be unseen.

Awesome Guide!

The Toronto Islands evening bike tour was the highlight of our trip. Sylvia was our guide and she made the trip delightful!! We certainly would recommend this tour to family and friends!

Great Activity for Families

We took an evening Island Tour on Father's Day and it was wonderful. Oscar was our guide and he was the best tour guide. The islands reminded me of Central Park in NYC and you get great views of the city.

Don't miss it

The sunset tour was truly magnificent. The ferry ride was swift and enjoyable. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided insightful information throughout the tour.

Very charming, must do especially at sunset

Boda_T, Oct 2023
Great tour in everything, the organization, the attention, the information, the fun and the views, it's definitely the best way to explore the islands cause it would take toooo long to do it by walking. The views from islands are amazing of the city and the information our guide gave us were very thorough and now I feel I understand all the history and know everythng about the different places on the islands!

Great views, worth it!

Zoe_F, Sep 2023
What a great tour! Please note that you will have to bike through the city to get to the ferry. On a busy concert weekend like ours, this may be stressful if you don't ride often. But, even with this, it's worth it! The islands tour is leisurely and accessible, and the views are incredible. The tour guide is so sweet and kind, and offers ample photo opportunities to your group. I highly recommend the evening tour, as the sunset is breathtaking.

Great tour, but I would have loved to have seen more of Center Island. Also, the garage (meeting location) is a little weird.

Biking Bliss in Toronto

Our guide was so friendly and accommodating. She custom tunes our bikes and frequently checked in to make sure we were all having fun.

Worth doing

Freya_P, Jun 2023
We did this in early June 2023 and had Ryan as our host and guide. Ryan was very knowledgeable about the Islands and it’s history and despite the overcast evening and cold wind hosted a great tour. Would recommend.

Good tour, not an intense bike ride

Keith_L, Sep 2022
This was a very good tour of the many landmarks of Toronto Island. The timing of the tour in late afternoon was ideal. (Admittedly, it was good weather.) you should know that there are many stops that are made to view and discuss sights and take pictures. It is not a straight through bicycle ride.

Response from Host, Sep 2022

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour. It sounds like you were expecting a straight through bike ride, which is not the focus of the Island tour, and that is not what we promote in our descriptions. We use bikes to explore the Islands and discover the stories, people and spots that make them such a special part of the city. Cycling is a means to discover the Islands, not an end in itself. I encourage anyone who has questions about our tours or their ability to do our tours to contact us to get more information. We can tailor our private tours or rent bikes to those who want more ‘ride’ and less conversation.

Scenic ride, fun and beautiful!

Candace_C, Jul 2022
Sunset biking on the island was so much fun! Our tour guide May it was fun, funny, and informative! We had a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend if you enjoy biking and adventure!

Perfect

Sabrina_B, Jul 2022
Jonathan was amazing as a guide, very knowledgeable and kept our group moving while providing ample stopping time and listening to requests. He also made a pretty decent photographer! I am not much of a biker and I can have breathing issues, but this tour was not difficult. The ride, the stops, and the conversations were lovely and I highly recommend this tour.

Cycle tour of Toronto islands

Mimi_O, May 2022
Harshita was a great tour guide and allowed us to extend our tour after a series of issues relating to the other guests meant that we started the tour late. She took lots of pictures which were then emailed to us at no extra cost. This tour is worth doing to explore a different area of Toronto and see the gorgeous skyline at sunet.

A memorable experience

Kelley_C, Jul 2021
A beautiful calm & slow paced evening bike ride through the magnificent Island. The tour guide was very informative & shared much fun & historical knowledge. I never thought I would have the opportunity or courage to bike from our starting point to the ferry but I did it! The event was well organized & every tour operator whom I came in contact with was very nice & reassuring. I left the tour with many delightful memories.

Bike Cruisers + Islands = Relaxing Evening

Mary_G, Jul 2019
I really enjoyed my bike night tour of the Toronto Islands. It took me back to childhood summer vacations, and the Islands themselves are a charming place to visit. Our tour guides were great, and confidently and safely navigated us through a bit of downtown traffic before we arrived at the ferry that takes you to Toronto Islands. Once there, the islands are a great spot to get a perspective on Toronto, guides shared interesting facts about the islands and their history. It was a lovely evening with other lovely people interested in a unique experience in Toronto.

We had a small group of six for the evening bike tour and absolutely LOVED it! Our guide can't remember her name was so personable and knowledgeable. All the equipment was set up ahead of time and ready to go--so no time was wasted trying out various bikes and helmets. The equipment was also in excellent condition--everything worked properly a definite plus. I can't stress enough how much fun we had would recommend highly!

Sarah P, Jul 2013
My evening bike tour was OUTSTANDING. Terrence was a great guide with extensive knowledge of Toronto and it's history and biking around the islands at sunset was so beautiful. This was a great tour and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a unique experience during their trip to Toronto. You don't have to be an experienced rider to have fun and there were plenty of stops along the way to rest and get amazing pictures of the skyline at dusk and night.
