Despite the weather, we had a great time exploring Toledo! Richard was very knowledgeable, as he went to school in the town. He knew all the great spots to take us, including an authentic shop with real swords and trinkets. Overall would highly recommend for a day in Toledo

Excellent Tour

It’s three hours of walking up and down the cobbled streets, but it’s worth the effort. Ricardo did a great job of adjusting the tour to see the sights we were especially interested in. Ricardo was engaging and informative and showed us some of Toledo’s hidden treasures.

Ricardo (Richard!) is a senior guide in Toledo and never stopped talking! But delightfully, knowledgeably and very selectively. He took us to see places which where not on the known tourist route as he had special access. One astonishing ex-church/mosque/church, now museum summarised Toledo by combining celtic, roman, visigoth, moor and christian architecture and decorations. Absolutely unique. He also quickly took us around the known tourist sights and did not miss out.

Off the Beaten Path Tour

Ricardo was extremely knowledgeable and provided a quaint tour away from the touristy spots we could see ourselves. I appreciated he had access to areas not open to the public, such as the basement of a Jewish mosque and an abandoned well in the heart of downtown. My only complaint is we were taken to a gift shop where I bought a miniature sword as a gift. The blade was 4-5 inches long. The shop owner, Antonio, didn’t warn me the authorities at the train station would confiscate the sword, which is exactly what happened. Had I known, I would not have purchased the gift only to have it confiscated. Perhaps Ricardo may want to let the shop owner know to warn the tourists, or warn them himself.

A great visit to Toledo

We really enjoyed Ricardo as our tour guide. He clearly has a passion for history and the heart of a teacher. Our tour was of the highlights of Toledo - he spent the first few minutes getting to know us and what our priorities were for our visit - then customized the three hours of our time together to meet our goals. He know many people in the city and all through town people would call out and greet us as we passed by. He spent appropriate amounts of time at the various sites and shared his love of history. There were a number of excavations he took us to which are generally not as available to tourists- but he has the keys so he could unlock the basement doors and take us into excavations under people’s houses. Great guide and we highly recommend!

History and Swords of Toledo!

Ricardo shared his love of this city with us and inspired us to ask many questions which he answered with super knowledge of all the great history that Toledo has. It seems every civilization from early Iberians, Romans, visagoths. Jews, Moors and Christians left their mark on this tiny but fascinating town. The views from below this hilltop town were amazing and the Cathedral was breathtaking. Without Ricardos vast knowledge of history we would have never known the secrets this town kept. Do not go to Toledo without this fun and interesting private tour! The shopping streets are fun too.

We loved the tour, our guide Cecil’s was absolutely perfect. This tour was our favorite as you were seeing everything even an underground jewish meeting place !!! We felt very comfortable and look forward to booking another in the future. Did not feel rushed like they do on the larger group tours which are common. Marcela, no es mi culpa que no le devuelvan el dinero en Viator, por que yo no controlo las devoluciones, la queja se la tiene que poner a Viator no a mi que soy el guia, viator es el que lleva todas las cuentas no yo. Si usted hizo una cancelación enseñe el registro de esa cancelación y que le devuelvan el dinero. Pero no me ponga a mi la queja que yo no tengo nada que ver. Es más fui yo quien la llame y la dije que llamará a Viator para solucionarlo. Pero no soy yo quien controla las devoluciones. Y siento que no pueda venir
