While we booked the night before our tour, there would good and not so good parts. Our driver picked us up and drove us to the lighthouse and for our camel rides - which were fun. His English was modest, but he was earnest and friendly. He couldn’t get inside the gates because “he was not licensed”. Then we were met in the Medina shopping area and for lunch by Madi - great English and friendly, but we were first taken to the rug merchant/ furniture shop which we declined after a quick visit, then to a essential oils place where we spent time and money while Madi went to midday prayers - all good. Then after dropping us for lunch he disappeared again - it seemed likely he was managing multiple groups separately, stopping at shops where they could extract a commission (I don’t know that just assuming by the “hard sell”). But when we indicated we wanted to return to the ship they walked us to the shuttle bus.

We’re sorry to read that certain parts of the experience did not fully meet your expectations. Regarding the driver’s license restriction — in Tangier, only certified city guides are authorized to enter specific historical sites, which is why your driver was required to wait outside.

BEWARE!! This is advertised as a PRIVATE tour but the operator decided last minute to put total strangers together. If I wanted a group tour, I would have booked one-and spend less (although I wasn’t price sensitive). He told me to cancel but I couldn’t as it was less than 24 hours so we were held hostage. Viator makes it very difficult to report this kind of behaviour. I had booked a tour with another company 90 days ago and they did the same thing. Even chastising me for wanting a private tour. We found an honest tour person somewhere else and it was absolutely private. Just bear in mind that in Tangier they do this kind of trick.

Although, I was in contact with Anwar, our tour guide to update him regarding our ship’s delay and our disembarkation time, he decided to take another group on a tour and made us wait over 90 minutes outside in cold weather. Anwar was dishonest, lacking in information about Tangier or Morocco, and inconsiderate. Knowing that my husband’s sister age 86 had limited walking abilities, he pawned us off on another person to shop for souvenirs. We walked over 20 minutes and were taken to a two-story shop where we were sent to an old man who tried to sell us blankets, rugs, and tapestries. When I said that I was very unhappy, he told me to calm down. We finally found some souvenirs and returned to our shuttle.
We enjoyed the very brief 5 minute camel ride and Hercules cave. When I asked if we were going to the Kasbah, he said no because we didn’t have time because we were late. We were late because he decided to take a tour and made us wait 90 minutes. When we were leaving Hercules cave, he suggested we give him a $100.00 tip. We ended up giving him $60.00 none of which he deserved.
This was a very bad experience.

We booked this excursion on November 5, well in advance of our arrival, and were told it would be a private tour. The day before we learn that there will actually be five people in the party, three of whom we did not know, and who had booked only a day or two before. We wanted to be flexible, so we accepted this without complaint.
Although the operator was late arriving at the meeting point, the first half of the tour was lovely, and basically as advertised, although the camel ride was considerably shorter than what other groups were experiencing down below on the beach. Tangier is overall an enchanting place.
But when we arrived at the Medina, the woman in the group wanted to shop, and everything came to a halt so Anwar could direct her to the shops of his friends who would then hawk their wares while the rest of us just waited. As a result, four of the promised items were never experienced - the Legation, the Kasbah and its museum, and the synagogue. Most of us had to be returned to the meeting point by taxi so she could continue shopping. This was NOT what we signed up for, and it was very disappointing.
If this had not occurred and we had been able to complete the itinerary outlined for the tour it would have been an exceptional experience. But this catering to one demanding person and leaving the remainder to miss out on what they had paid for was simply not acceptable.

Badro made us feel like family. He asked us what we wanted to see and took us to places we wanted to visit. He took us to real local shops vs tourist traps and we ate authentic Moroccan cuisine at a restaurant that locals frequented. We visited the local farmers market and fish market, wood fired community oven, and much more. Of course we saw historic sites and fantastic views. We have to return, and ask for Badro

I had a horrible experience on this tour...
Trying to find the tour operators was very challenging and completely disorganized at best.
The 1st guide tried to include me + my 2 traveling companions (3 of us) into a small cab (NOT a Private Vehicle as provided in the tour description) with 2 other people whom we did not know. I refused to be crammed into a shared cab. Another cab was sent for us 15 mins later with another guide. His office who was on the phone called me by name so we entered the cab. Once we got to the furthest site (beach to ride camels) the guide handed me the phone + whomever was talking began arguing with me that I owed them additional money & insisted I pay the guide additional money or we would be left at the furthest, most remote location. I hung up on the caller. My travel Companion
Was trying to call the Police fearing for her & her young daughter's safety. I insisted that we return directly to the ship immediately. The guide kept talking on the phone asking for me to talk to the people on the phone. I refused, realizing the tour was a scam for more money.
We did not ride the camels. The young daughter was heartbroken and very disappointed that she wasn't able to ride the camels, as was I.
We never were shown nor admitted into any of the destinations outlined in the tour package.
It was a horrifying experience and none of the 3 of us felt safe. It is Unbelievable that Viator would engage with such UNSCRUPULOUS "business" practices.
Please, VIATOR refund my money paid for this tour.

Horrible experience.
