The views were absolutely beautiful a memorable trip! The staff were friendly and very helpful. The Carribbean rum certainly helped from the bar with my fear of heights!

Must do! Book the 11:00 am if possible as it’s the first group of the day and less of a wait overall. Absolutely amazing views and so much fun!
Tamesha_M, Jun 2026
I loved it. I got to ride the Flying Dutchman then we did the ziplining. They had a bar at the top with a spot for music and good pictures.
Whitney_C, Jun 2026
We went on a day cruise ships weren’t in port. Our reservation was for 1:00. From the time we parked to the time we left, we were there an hour and 15 minutes. Took 20 ish minutes to ride the lift up. We just did the Flying Dutchman. It was okay but for the price not sure it was worth it. If you’ve never zip lined before, this could be a good one to do. Someone in our group doesn’t like heights and they thought it was okay.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Dear Traveler,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We are glad that your group—including the member who isn't a fan of heights—found the Flying Dutchman to be a manageable and smooth experience.
Because you visited on a day when major cruise ships weren't in port, you got to experience our park at its absolute fastest pace! Without the typical crowds, guests are able to zip right through the ticketing, harness, and lift process in record time. We completely understand how a swift 1-hour and 15-minute total visit can make the ticket price feel a bit steep for a single descent, as most of our guests usually spend several hours on the mountain taking in the viewing decks or enjoying the restaurant.
We appreciate your perspective, especially as a recommendation for beginners looking to conquer a fear of heights on the world's steepest zip line! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time exploring St. Maarten.
SarahKathryn_J, Jun 2026
We had a good time but it was pretty pricy for just one zipline. I’m not sure how much it was to add others but I expected more than one ride
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are glad to hear that you had a good time and enjoyed the beautiful views from the mountain!
We appreciate your perspective regarding the price and understand how a single ride can feel brief. Because the Flying Dutchman is a highly technical, record-breaking attraction—being the steepest zip line in the world—its ticketing is structured per descent.
For future visits, we do offer several multi-attraction packages, such as our "Big Three" or "Full Experience" passes. These allow you to bundle the Flying Dutchman with our traditional canopy zip line course (which features multiple runs), the Schooner inner-tube slide, and unlimited use of the Sky Explorer chairlift for a much more comprehensive and cost-effective adventure.
Thank you again for your valuable input, and we hope to welcome you back to explore more of our park's attractions next time!
Harold_R, Jun 2026
Really really fun, youre first hit with adrenaline going down the mountain and next thing you know, youre enjoying the ride. 10/10 would do it again. The lines was a bit long but overall a great experience.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Dear Traveler,
10/10 would do it again—that is exactly what we love to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your review with the Viator community.
We love your description of how that initial rush of adrenaline hits you as you launch down the mountain before transitioning into pure enjoyment. The Flying Dutchman is built precisely for that incredible thrill! We appreciate your patience with the lines during your visit, and we are so glad to hear that the overall experience was well worth it.
We are ready whenever you are to welcome you back for another round of adrenaline at Sentry Hill!
Wendelyn_W, Jun 2026
Arrive earlier than reservation time. The bar is great. Bring water and sunscreen Bring your patience it’s a long wait.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Dear Traveler,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review and for passing along such excellent, practical advice to fellow travelers!
We love that you enjoyed your time at the bar, and your tips to bring water, sunscreen, and plenty of patience are spot on. Because the Flying Dutchman is the world's steepest zip line, it is an incredibly popular attraction. During peak hours, the wait times can indeed get long as our team meticulously manages safety protocols and harness transitions. Arriving earlier than your scheduled slot is the perfect way to beat the rush and secure your spot in the queue comfortably.
We truly appreciate your patience during your visit and hope to welcome you back to Sentry Hill for another high-flying adventure soon!
Lesley_C, Jun 2026
It waa fun, but the line was waaaayy too long for a 30 second ride. My ride turned side ways and I couldn't see anything
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Dear Traveler,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are glad you found the ride fun, but we are genuinely sorry to hear that the wait time and your experience during the descent fell short of expectations.
Because the Flying Dutchman is the steepest zip line in the world, it reaches incredible speeds, making the 45-second flight a very fast-paced thrill. During peak times, this popularity can result in longer lines as our team meticulously manages safety checks, which we understand can feel disproportionate to the length of the ride.
We are also very sorry that your harness turned sideways during the descent, preventing you from enjoying the spectacular views of the island. While high winds or a guest's body positioning can occasionally cause a slight rotation on the line, we always want our guests to have a clear, forward-facing view of the horizon. Our ride technicians continuously monitor and adjust the equipment to minimize this, and we will pass your comment along to our maintenance team to check the gear.
We appreciate your candid input as it helps us look closely at how we can improve our guest experience. We hope you might give us another chance in the future for a smoother, forward-facing flight.
John_d, May 2026
I watched everything as critically as I could and was most pleased. Machinery and infrastructure looked very well cared for; staff clearly knew what they were doing AND seemed like they were having a great time. All very well and professionally done, if a little slow at the box office.
I was disappointed I didn't distinguish that there were two zip lines - next time I'll do both.
As to the Dutchman. For me, 45 minutes of anticipatory terror (I'm cripplingly afraid of heights) followed by 45 of the most wonderful seconds of my life. I'd love to do it all day, and really look forward to doing the canopy zip line after the Dutchman again. (Perhaps y'all can make its presence a little more obvious for the less-aware like me.)
And. There are lots of opportunities to tip. At each level.
And. I'm glad we went when there were no cruise ships in port.
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear Traveler,
Awww heck yeah! What an incredible review—thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!
First, congratulations on conquering that crippling fear of heights! Turning 45 minutes of anticipatory terror into 45 of the most wonderful seconds of your life on the Flying Dutchman is a massive victory, and we are absolutely honored to have been part of that milestone.
As someone who looked at everything with a critical eye, your high praise regarding our infrastructure, machinery, and professional staff means the world to us. Our team loves what they do, and we're thrilled that energy shined through. We do appreciate your note about the slower pace at the box office and will work on streamlining our check-in process.
We also take your feedback to heart about making our secondary zip line experiences more distinct and obvious at booking—we definitely want you to try the canopy tour next time!
Going on a non-cruise day is indeed a great insider secret for a more relaxed pace. We cannot wait to welcome you back to Sentry Hill for another round of high-flying adrenaline!
Robert_M, May 2026
A lot of fun but overpriced for a 45 second thrill. Need to be better organized. Was not told you need to sign up once you get to the top.
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear Traveler,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you had a lot of fun on the Flying Dutchman, but we appreciate your feedback regarding the organization and perceived value.
Because the Flying Dutchman is the world's steepest zip line, it reaches very high speeds, making the adrenaline-filled descent a quick one! We understand how this can feel brief for the price point, and we take your comments on value seriously.
We are also very sorry for the lack of communication regarding the check-in process at the top of the mountain. We strive to make our operations as clear as possible, and we will work with our staff to ensure all guests are properly informed about signing up for their ride slot before heading up.
Thank you for helping us improve, and we hope to welcome you back for a smoother experience in the future.
James_L, May 2026
$109 for a 30 second ride. Not worth it. I have had better zip line experiences in a park. The only reason I gave it one star was because of the views at the top of the mountain.
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. While we are glad you enjoyed the breathtaking panoramic views from the top of the mountain, we regret to hear that the Flying Dutchman did not meet your expectations in terms of value.
The Flying Dutchman is uniquely engineered as the world's steepest zip line, specifically designed to provide a high-speed, intense adrenaline rush rather than a traditional, long-duration canopy tour. We understand that this style of adventure is different from other courses, and we appreciate your honest feedback on how it felt for you.
We value your patronage and would like to hear more about your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us via WhatsApp at +52 998 537 1836 if you have any further comments.
Seon_C, May 2026
Very nice experience, great views and a nice bar at the top. Just be prepared for the long lines. The staff were very friendly. However, I think th bathroom facilities need some updating/cleaning. Sowey!
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the incredible views and our bar at the top of the mountain. It’s also wonderful to know that our staff made a positive impression with their friendly service.
We appreciate your honesty regarding the wait times and your feedback about the bathroom facilities. Please accept our apologies for the state of the restrooms during your visit; we have shared your comments with our maintenance team to ensure they are updated and kept to the high standard our guests expect.
Thank you for helping us improve, and we hope to welcome you back for another flight on the Flying Dutchman soon!
Joann_D, May 2026
Our reservation was for 11:00 and when we got there for 11 we were told it wasn’t opening until 1:00. Also I originally booked for Saturday. They cancelled us so we rescheduled for Sunday. And we were charged twice
Response from Host, May 2026
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your experience with Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten. We’re very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience caused during your visit, especially regarding the scheduling and billing issues connected with your reservation through Viator.
We understand how disappointing it must have been to arrive for your 11:00 AM booking and then learn that operations would not begin until 1:00 PM. We also regret the confusion surrounding your original Saturday reservation and the need to reschedule to Sunday.
While reservations made through third-party platforms such as Viator are managed externally, we recognize that this still impacts your overall experience with us. The duplicate charge you mentioned is certainly not acceptable, and we strongly encourage you to contact Viator directly regarding the billing issue if you have not already done so. At the same time, we will share this feedback with our reservations and partnerships teams so they can review communication and scheduling coordination more carefully.
We are glad to hear you still enjoyed the Flying Dutchman experience itself, and we truly appreciate your patience despite the operational challenges.
Lisa_A, Apr 2026
Well laid out event. Be aware that there is a fair amount of standing in line. It's nice that there is a bar up top and restrooms as well.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the Sky Explorer and Flying Dutchman experience and found the layout well organized.
You’re absolutely right—there can be some waiting time, especially during busier periods, but we’re happy you were able to take advantage of the facilities at the top, including the bar and restrooms, to make your visit more comfortable.
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience and hope to welcome you again for another fun adventure soon!
Stacey_S, Apr 2026
Don't be in a rush; take your time and take in the views! If you're afraid of heights, try the shorter zip lines first. The big one is awesome, the start of the hill is the scariest. Grab a drink before and scream as loud as you can!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Guest,
Thank you for such a vibrant and encouraging review on Viator! "Live life fully" is exactly the spirit we hope to inspire at Rainforest Adventures.
We love your advice for future adventurers—taking the time to soak in those 360-degree Caribbean views is a must. You’re spot on about the Flying Dutchman; that initial drop is definitely the most heart-pounding part, but as you said, it is absolutely awesome! Screaming as loud as you can is officially the best way to enjoy the ride.
It was a pleasure having you with us in St. Maarten, and we hope you carry that "live life fully" energy with you until your next visit!
Stefan_S, Mar 2026
A bit expensive... but the view from the top is great and the zipline is fun. The ride up is nice, too.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! 🚠✨ We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the 'great views' from the top and found the Flying Dutchman and the ride up to be a fun experience.
We understand your concerns regarding pricing. We strive to provide a unique, world-class experience—including the steepest zipline in the world—while maintaining the highest safety and maintenance standards for all our guests. We truly appreciate your visit and are glad the spectacular views made it worth your while!
We hope to welcome you back again in the future! 🌿⛰️
Eric_W, Mar 2026
Zip line is high but smooth and not too fast for those fearing the ride. Don't chicken out you will enjoy the views on the way down.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your review.
We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the Flying Dutchman and that the ride felt smooth while still being exciting. Many guests feel a mix of excitement and nerves before the ride, so it’s great to know you were able to enjoy the experience and the views on the way down.
We appreciate you visiting Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten and hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Ray_W, Mar 2026
You can ask staff to phone for cab back to Philisburg. Tube ride not open when we went.
Stll operated in strong winds
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback and for visiting Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten.
We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the beautiful views and your experience overall. Our team is always happy to assist guests with transportation, including helping to call a taxi back to Philipsburg if needed.
We’re sorry that the tubing ride was not open during your visit. Occasionally some activities may be temporarily closed due to weather or operational conditions to ensure everyone’s safety. We appreciate your understanding.
Thank you again for your review, and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit to St. Maarten! 🌴
Alexis_S, Mar 2026
We showed at at 1030 for an 1100 reservation. We were told we had to move and allow the cruise travelers to come. So they allowed at least 120 or more people go in front of us. For just the Flying Dutchman, we did not leave the park until after 2PM. I understand cruise travelers have a strict itinerary, but they should not allow reservations for other travelers at that time to accommodate them. It was a headache. Wish we would have booked a later time around 3 or 4PM
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We sincerely apologize for the long wait you experienced and for the frustration it caused. While we do our best to accommodate all guests, including cruise visitors who operate on strict departure schedules, we understand how disappointing it must have felt to have your reservation impacted.
Our goal is always to balance guest flow fairly and safely, but on high-volume days wait times can unfortunately be longer than expected. We truly regret that this affected your experience and that your visit felt stressful rather than enjoyable.
We appreciate your feedback regarding scheduling, as it helps us continue improving our operations and communication. Your suggestion about later time slots is also valuable insight for future guests.
Thank you again for sharing your experience with us.
Hailey_S, Feb 2026
Very fun experience. Must do when in st Martin! There is a bar up top but honestly it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. It had some resistance on it so that you’re not absolutely flying down. Only lasted about 45 seconds.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you so much for your review, Hailey! 🌴✨
We’re thrilled to hear you had such a fun experience and consider it a must-do while in St. Maarten! It’s great to know that the Flying Dutchman felt exciting but not overwhelming — our braking system is designed to provide a smooth, controlled ride while still delivering that adrenaline rush.
We’re glad you enjoyed the experience (and the bar at the top 😉). We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
Josie_L, Feb 2026
The zip line itself is exhilarating and super fun, but be prepared for long waits. We knew based off of previous reviews that the waits would be long, but if it were unexpected it could be frustrating. We waited almost 3 hours for our quick 45 second ride. The staff was very nice and helpful for the most part. $109 feels very expensive for the experience itself but it’s an activity to do once and say you’ve done it. Just go into it with a very lax timeline. There are drinks and a bathroom at the top while you wait for your turn on the zip line
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for sharing your Viator review of the Sky Explorer and Flying Dutchman.
We’re glad to hear you found the Flying Dutchman zip line exhilarating and fun, and that our team was friendly and helpful during your visit. We also appreciate you honestly highlighting the wait times. Due to the popularity of the attraction and strict safety protocols, waits can be longer than expected, and we agree that knowing this in advance helps guests plan their day with a more relaxed timeline.
We’re happy you were able to take advantage of the facilities at the top while waiting, and we appreciate your perspective that this is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your feedback is valuable and helps future guests know what to expect as well as helps us continue improving the overall experience.
Morgan_M, Feb 2026
No issues with Viator, and the experience was fun overall, but be prepared to spend ~2-3 hours waiting in various queues while at the park. It’s fun and pretty views but not worth the time or money if you’re debating between this activity and something else on the island.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you for sharing your Viator review of the Sky Explorer and Flying Dutchman.
We’re glad to hear you had no issues with your booking through Viator and that you enjoyed the experience and the beautiful views. At the same time, we understand your concerns about the amount of time spent waiting in queues. During peak periods, wait times can be longer due to high demand and safety-related capacity limits, and we recognize how this can impact the overall value of the experience.
Your feedback is appreciated and has been shared with our team as we continue working to improve guest flow and reduce wait times wherever possible. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective.
jeremy_z, Jan 2026
Not worth the time or money. From the lack of a sign to let drivers know where to turn to the lack of direction as to what customers should do after entering the gate, I found this to be a very frustrating experience. I signed up and paid online in advance and assumed I could proceed straight to the chairlift. Not so – I had to supply additional information, sign a waiver, and have my photo taken before I could get a wristband which would allow me to proceed to the chairlift. All of those steps could have been accomplished online in advance so that I wouldn’t have had to stand in a long line before being permitted to proceed to the chairlift.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for sharing your Viator review of Rainforest Adventures.
We’re sorry to hear that your experience was frustrating due to signage, on-site direction, and the check-in process. While certain steps such as waivers and wristband activation are required for safety and operational reasons, we agree that the process should be clearer and more efficient, especially for guests who book online in advance.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us identify areas for improvement. If you would like to discuss your experience further or need assistance with your booking, please feel free to contact our reservations team at onlinebookings@rainforestadventure.com.
Catherine_L, Jan 2026
The Flying Dutchman staff were great, especially the guy who harnessed me in. He was calming and reassuring! The ride up on the ski lift was beautiful and the views were amazing. The Flying Dutchman was great but over priced. Definitely not worth $150
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very glad to hear that you enjoyed the experience, the beautiful views, and especially the support and professionalism of our Flying Dutchman team — we’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to the staff member who helped make you feel comfortable and reassured.
We understand your comments regarding pricing and appreciate you sharing your perspective. Our pricing reflects not only the unique nature of the Flying Dutchman experience, but also the extensive safety systems, highly trained staff, and ongoing maintenance required to operate the attraction to the highest standards.
That said, we truly value your feedback, as it helps us continue reviewing how we deliver value to our guests. Thank you again for visiting Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future.
Warm regards,
Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten Team
Diane_C, Jan 2026
This was incredible! I am terrified of heights but managed to calm down enough to experience this. The operator was encouraging when he could see I was scared and encouraged me that the ride was safe and to close my eyes for a second but then open to see how beautiful it was. He was the only reason I calmed down; not sure what his name was but a great worker! I loved the experience and would do it again in a heartbeat!
Response from Host, Jan 2026

Jill_W, Dec 2025
We had a reservation for 11:00 am, thinking i would get ahead of all the cruise ship folks - WRONG! I was right in the middle of all the chaos i was trying to avoid. It was a great experience but i would recommend reserving a later time so that all the cruise ship buses are gone when you go. I would recommend reserving 1:00 pm or after. The zipline was awesome & they’ll let you ride the chairlift as many times as you want - but you can only zip once. In all, a good experience - would recommend!
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and helpful advice! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the attractions and had a great time on the zipline and chairlift.
You’re absolutely right — earlier time slots can coincide with cruise ship arrivals, which may result in a busier atmosphere. We appreciate you sharing this tip with future guests, as visiting later in the day can be a great option for those looking for a quieter experience.
Thank you for your recommendation and for choosing Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten. We hope to welcome you back again for another fun and memorable visit! 🌿✨
Stephen_M, Dec 2025
Make sure you have you waiver filled out. The facility's were clean and staff pleasant. For the time there the 300 dollars was a bit much. But the island is very touristy
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit, found the facilities clean, and experienced pleasant service from our team.
We appreciate your note about completing the waiver in advance — it’s a great tip that helps make the experience smoother for everyone. We also understand your comments regarding pricing. Our experiences include unique attractions, safety equipment, trained staff, and ongoing maintenance, especially in a highly touristic destination like St. Maarten.
Thank you again for visiting Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten and for sharing your perspective. We hope to welcome you back in the future! 🌿✨

It was excited and we enjoyed it, but sometimes there were some single riders and they do it alone, I suggest to put them together to reduce the waiting time.

The Flying Dutchman was a great zipline. I wish the description would have noted that it was only for that zipline and not for the other ziplines or tubing at the adventure park.
