Emma was an incredible tour guide! She was personable, timely, courteous, knowledgeable, and genuinely took each of us and our individual needs into consideration throughout the entire day.
Her advice regarding the different entrance options for the Southern Great Wall was especially helpful. She carefully explained what each option involved, including the additional 200–300 steps after the Warrior/Hero’s Slope to reach the top, which allowed us to make an informed decision about the route that was right for us.
Our entire day was planned perfectly. After coming down from the Great Wall in the heat, Emma even treated us to ice cream before lunch so we could cool down — such a thoughtful and very welcome surprise! Lunch itself was absolutely amazing.
The entire tour was an incredible experience for all three of us. On a personal level, I have difficulty walking, and climbing the Great Wall was a significant challenge for me. With Emma’s guidance, patience, and encouragement, I made it! That is an experience I will never forget.
All three of us would wholeheartedly recommend Emma. Her attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and ability to make the day enjoyable for each of us made this an unforgettable experience in China. We could not have asked for a better guide!
Southern Great Wall was a great alternative to the 'northern' Great Wall since we were staying in Shanghai. Our tour guide Jordan prepared the itinerary nicely for us, and made sure of proper transportation. He provided the unique history behind the Southern GW as we walked, then led us through the streets of the local town of Linhai with small shops and markets, before a nice lunch at a tucked away restaurant. We completed the tour through East Lake, which was near the head of the SGW. We enjoyed the experience from beginning to end!
EMMA was great she is amazing and very knowledgeable. Very hard working and worked around our schedule. A massive plus for us was that she connected with our children very easily and child friendly. My daughter and son were very comfortable with her. Emma answered all of our questions about the wall, city, and past. This is a must do experience and would recommend booking and requesting emma.
The vehicles used were great and luxurious with lots of water too.
It’s a long day but first class experience. The guide was super accommodating. I was here for business and booked this on my one free day. Nice to get out of the city and see more sights.
Our guide Gerry was excellent very organised and even when transport changes had to be made it was seemless. Excellent knowledge and so friendly and kind. We really enjoyed the whole day and it was well worth it.

Emma was an excellent guide who never left our side, not even for a minute.
It is extremely important to be on time. The train waits for no one. Hydrate the night before, bring lots of water. Lots of steps, so difficult, but I am a 71 year old woman, and my son is a double lung transplant and we made it. Miao, our guide was excellent and did not push the pace.
We had a great experience! Our guide Emma was super helpful and attentive to our needs! We had a wonderful meal!

Because we had a guide so to a ourselves, we were able tailor the trip to our level of fitness. Our guide, Miao, was very attentive and informative. Everytime we went on to the next activity, a car was waiting for us. She is a very good guide and we would happily recommend her to others.

Emma our tour guide was right on time and incredibly friendly and accommodating. She asked us our preferences the day before ans made aure the experience was tailored just for us. We learned so much history and felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The secret garden.....was a treasure excellent lunch spot. Well done Emma.....we had a fantastic time
We had a very informative and organized tour. Judy was our tour guide and she was very professional. The only downside was that it was extremely hot (38°C), sunny and humid so we highly recommend having a hat, sunscreen, portable fan and cooling towel available. If you're not in decent shape, this tour is not for you.
Emma was a great guide. The tour started with no stress and a nice pick up vehicle. Everything was very well organized. I travel a lot independently and I’m so happy we chose this tour with an English speaking guide. I think it would have been pretty stressful otherwise. Despite the intense heat, we really enjoyed this tour. I’d caution climbing in the summer heat though! The restaurant we went to for lunch was wonderful with an abundance of food. The hospitality there was great. I’d absolutely recommend going on this tour!
Judy was our fabulous guide! Everything was seamless from pick to drop off. It was nice not having to plan the day. We decided to do this tour on the hottest day of the summer. Today we didn't just walk the Great Wall of China-we negotiated with every single step. Somewhere around stair number 3,000 (jk) I'm pretty sure the Wall started climbing us.
Worth it? Absolutely.
Sweaty? Beyond belief.
Hydrated? Questionable.
Regrets? None.
The views were incredible, the history was unforgettable, and we earned every single one of these photos. If anyone needs me, l'll be recovering in the nearest air conditioning...preferably with an ice cream the size of the Great Wall.

They should know that my experience with Li Zhaochen our guide was exceptional and flawless. It started at our hotel which was at least 1/2 hour out of their meeting point and he picked us up. He made sure we had the best experience and that we arrived at our destination Shanghai: Southern Great Wall Day Trip by Bullet Train on time and safe. He was very kind and went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience - he helped taking pictures, he gave us the history and customs of the places we visited in addition to the Wall - Taizhou Fucheng was one of them and since it was our first time on the bullet train he even took us out prior to us getting on it so we could video it coming into the station. We had a traditional lunch at a restaurant he had selected and he had listened to our likes and dislikes without us noticing. He had a private room for us with a spread of various custom dishes which tasted delicious and took care of our vegetarian and the person in our group who did not eat chicken nor fish. The food was freshly made and delicious. There was a person who wanted iced tea which they are not accustomed to having and he obtained it for them. He had drivers all set up who were safe and also pleasant. He even had raincoats and water for us. When we finished our tour we wanted to continue shopping and he helped us set up a ride back to the hotel. I cannot fully explain how helpful and enjoyable he made us feel and I know this is not the only tour he guides so if I were you I would ask for him without hesitation! A lovely day with my guide, Miao. Super nice, extremely knowledgeable and interesting It is quite a long day, but the bullet train is fune and it is good to see a bit more of ordinary Chinese life. The southern wall is a little underwhelming, I found the old town walk much more interesting and enjoyable. It is quite expensive for what it is, but I had a lovely day.
Judy was incredibly sweet and made everything feel smooth and stress-free. Even though it was raining, she still went out of her way in the rain to make sure we got the best scenic views possible. She also adjusted the timing for us and made the entire Viator experience quick, easy, and seamless. We truly appreciated her effort, flexibility, and kindness throughout the experience.

Our tour of the Great Wall was absolutely fantastic! The entire trip was incredibly well-organized, starting right from the seamless hotel pickup, and we felt well taken care of the entire day. Our guide, Jordan, did an exceptional job tailoring the information and stops to our specific interests, which made the experience so much more personal and engaging. We also loved exploring the old town—the street shops were incredibly cute with lots of cool things to look at, and grabbing some tea and snacks along the way was the perfect touch. We spent an enjoyable day with our tour guide Summer in Linhai and the southern Great Wall, which we learned was built before the northern Great Wall (which makes it the original!)
Everything was on schedule and well-timed with transportation and the pace of the tour. Summer took us to lunch and ordered food from the region, which was very authentic. We were traveling with someone who had mobility issues and Summer was very sensitive to that since it appears there is not a lot of accessibility for those who are disabled in China. Could not have done this trip on our own.
Emma was an amazing tour guide for us. She have a lot of knowledge of the history and the locations we visited. Highly recommended tour. Also location is closer to Shanghai. It’s a southern part of the wall, that is easy accessible, right in the city.
This is a very good experience to see the Great Wall if you haven't done so in Beijing. The train ride is too long and options for upgrade on bullet train should be made available. Also the tour guide we had, though very nice and attentive, was not very knowledgeable or informative on Chinese history. Improvement there would make this trip more enjoyable and exciting.
Great trip, absolutely worth the 3-hour ride on the bullet train. The weather was challenging, but even the pouring rain didn’t take away from the joy of exploring the Garden and the Wall. Our guide, Miao, was fantastic - well-organized, knowledgeable, fluent in English and incredibly kind.

This was a great tour. Be prepared for a long day as it is 3 hours on the bullet train each way - not 2 hours. So 6 hours of travel plus pick up and drop off transfer times.
Meal is vegetarian. Best to go in Feb for the flowers. Tour guide was helpful and friendly.

I would let other travelers know that this tour is very demanding physically. I’m proud of myself for making it. The wall was incredible to see and the garden was beautiful and worth it.
