Yu Garden and Tea

My guide Sunni met me at the hotel and we headed off to Old Town to see the shops and visit Yu Garden. The Qing dynasty garden is an amazing collection of pond, pavilions and bonsai, I spent a short time there but you easily spend hours, it does get crowded. We went and had a tea tasting in old town, Sunni’s family has a tea plantation and she was in the know on types and preparation. Highly recommend this tour.

Amazing tour of Shanghai!

We were picked up at our chosen time by Melinda and our driver in the most comfortable mini van which had reclining seats with heating/massaging functionality, a very nice way to travel around the city. We started at the Jade Temple with a private tour around the various buildings with great explanations about the religion and spiritual aspects of everything we saw. We then travelled into Shanghai Old Town and visited Yu Garden which was magical and so beautiful. Afterwards we went down to the waterfront on Bund to get some nice views of the financial district. We then drove to the Shanghai tower and went up to the top which was lovely at sunset in winter. Afterwards we were dropped back to our hotel and Melinda recommended a great restuarant for us to have dumplings which was close to the old town which we got to see at night which was stunning. Cannot recommend this tour enough, it was a great way to see the sights of Shanghai efficiently and comfortably. We have one more day in Shanghai where we will go for a walk through People's Park and perhaps visit the pandas at the zoo, then we feel like we've had a good introduction to the city.
