Berlin Hong Lan is an excellent and friendly guide more like a friend showing you around her city. My daughter and I booked a private day tour with a flexible itinerary since I wanted to see the Humble Administrators garden rather than the Master of Nets or Lionshead gardens with rickshaw ride and visit to the silk museum offered on the other private tours. Our van was very comfortable with armchair seats and umbrellas. Berlin efficiently got us into the Bullet train where 30 minutes later we went in a similarly comfortable van to old Shantung street. Berlin is an engaging guide telling us interesting snippets about China’s most ancient city. After a brunch of crab noodles and tasty xiao long Bao in Shantung street we boarded a boat ride giving us an interesting perspective of the old houses along the canals. From there we were driven to the Panmen city wall and gate with pagoda a beautiful classic example of Chinese lake pavilions and covered walkways. At the Humble Administrator’s Garden, Berlin showed us the hidden places and facts of Suzhou’s largest garden. Berlin then took us to an excellent restaurant showcasing some tasty dishes of fish, pork belly, stir fried pork mushroom and capsicum, noodles. An excellent finish before taking the bullet train back to Shanghai where the van dropped us back our hotel. Berlin showed us such a great tour of Suzhou and some of the highlights that I would highly recommend her.

To start with, make certain that they assign Lily to you. She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate and a problem solver extraordinaire!
This is a full day, with walking, crowds and a great deal to see. Be prepared! In our case, we had to travel slower due to a recent injury. But Lily made things happen and we got through just about everything! We did cut the Garden short by choice, as this afternoon was incredibly busy to the point it was difficult for us. Again, Lily navigated around things for us.
The included lunch was absolutely delicious, and plentiful. This was not “here’s what you get” - our lunches were ordered as we decided off the menu, accommodating different tastes and diets. Again, Lily handled this for us with ease and helped making tremendous choices.
In short - this was a great tour and delivered a lot for the value. Again, ask for Lily!

We had a wonderful day trip to Suzhou. The tour started with hotel pickup, and then we took the high-speed train to Suzhou. The train ride was very fast and comfortable, only about 25 minutes.
Suzhou is a beautiful ancient city and very well preserved. We visited one of the most famous classical gardens, enjoyed a boat ride, saw the ancient city gate and the Grand Canal, walked along the old street, and also experienced a rickshaw ride. The food was also very delicious.
A special thanks to our guide Lin. She was very patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. She took great care of us throughout the day and made the tour very smooth and enjoyable.
This tour is highly recommended!

Suzhou is certainly a place worth visiting for a day. A lot of history, many gardens, walls and other interesting places to see. An easy access by bullet train for a day trip from Shanghai.
Kimi is a good guide and accommodated our preferences very well.

Our short trip to Suzhou was absolutely perfect thanks to our amazing guide - Ms lin! This was our first tour incorporating a bullet train journey to another city, Suzhou, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Our tour guide, Kimi, navigated us efficiently through Shanghai Railway Station and ensured the boarding process was smooth and stress-free. After only a short wait, we boarded the bullet train and reached Suzhou in just 30 minutes.
There were many highlights throughout the tour.
The ancient Grand Canal in Suzhou was fascinating, especially considering its historical commercial importance and the significant role it played during the Opium Wars. The Panmen Gate fortifications were equally impressive, particularly from an engineering and architectural perspective. Pingjiang Road was vibrant and full of life, with locals and visitors creating a lively atmosphere. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Humble Administrator’s Garden, appreciating both its scale and the thoughtful beauty of its design.
Overall, I would rate this tour very highly and consider it a must-see experience for anyone visiting the region.

This was an amazing tour. We saw many amazing sites. Kimi, my guide, was wonderful. He was knowledgeable about all of the sites and was able to tell me the history and interesting facts about all of them. The driver was excellent at navigating us safely around the town. Lunch was delicious. Finally, Alana, the tour director, kept me informed of all details and requirements for the tour. I appreciate everyone involved with this tour, and highly recommend the tour.

Don't come during a national holiday, to avoid the crowds. The garden and the sites in SuZhou were beautiful. Learning about the history was a lot of fun!

Kimi was a brilliant guide. The day was well organised and delivered, and Kimi explained everything in English really well. Lunch was also spectacular, so make sure you are hungry! This was a fantastic day out. Caroline was a fantastic accommodating guide. We were carefully shown around several sites as well as enjoyed a canal ride and rickshaw ride. Lunch was delicious and vegetarian dietary requirements were accommodated. Caroline was friendly, and passed on so much knowledge. It was a very enjoyable day out including the driver navigating very busy streets. Lots of photo advice and opportunities for breaks.

An amazing one day guided trip with Caroline, our fabulous guide. We travelled a lot to many countries, and had done many private guided day tours, and Caroline, no doubt ranked first if we were to asked who is our best tour guide thus far.
Informative, jovial, attentive and efficient, Caroline fed us with so much knowledge and stories of the places of attractions today.

We enjoyed a great day in Suzhou with our excellent guide Jane. This tour was meticulously organised and we had outstanding communication from the tour company. Jane did a great job shepherding us through the very busy Shanghai station. Arriving in Suzhou we made our way to the Humble Administrators Garden is a very new and clean sedan. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed walking around the historic garden. After a short rickshaw ride we had an early lunch in an excellent local restaurant followed by an interesting walk through the Panmen Gate scenic area. Some lovely flowering trees in early April. Finally we enjoyed a sort boat ride on a canal later in the afternoon before catching a later train than originally planned. No problem getting new seats after Jane made a call to the tour company. Returned to Shanghai where the driver dropped us off downtown instead of the hotel. Have no reservations about highly recommending this tour.

We had a lovely time with Queena exploring Suzhou! I'm so glad we did this day trip from Shanghai, very worth. The whole tour ran very smoothly, even though there were multiple transportation modes across two cities. Both Queena and the driver were very patient with my 12 month old and provided a carseat. Queena was a rockstar dealing with my perennially picky dad at lunch - at it was super delicious. Always happy to try something local! All in all we loved it and would definitely recommend.

Our Guide Caroline was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating! We wouldn’t do the canal boat ride tour do to unforeseen circumstances but she was able to book another cruise on the river.

We visited Suzhou from Shanghai for a day trip, and Caroline made the experience absolutely wonderful for both me and my mom. She was extremely warm, patient, and knowledgeable, and explained everything in a very clear and engaging way.
Caroline planned the day smoothly, took great care of us, and made sure we were comfortable at all times. She shared interesting history and cultural insights while also giving us enough time to enjoy the beautiful gardens and scenery at our own pace. My mom especially appreciated how kind and attentive Caroline was.
