Be aware, you need to bring a passport. It is not clear on the Viator website when booking. We drove all the way and did not have passports. The driver asked us when we got there, why not ask before we boarded? The tour company Discovering Spain, sent us emails with a lot of informations and buried in the emails is a line about passports. This should be highlighted in BOLD. After 2.5 hours of driving we just turned back. We asked if the driver could give us a tour of Seville and was told no. The tour company sent us a letter saying it’s not their issue and they fulfilled their obligation , no refund or partial refund . Not sure how they full filled it when we didn’t see anything for 3 hours and should get some refund back. We offered to go the next day and asked if we could get a discount and was also told no, not their issue. anyways, bad experience. Although we did not see the fine print about the passports, we wasted 5 hours of driving. The tour company was not helpful or compassionate in anyway or willing any type of partial refund. We are from Canada and not Europeans and do not carry passports with us. A lack of kindness, empathy and customer service . Horrible company to deal with.

Dear customers, When traveling to any country, it is mandatory to carry your passport or the document appropriate to your nationality. It is also the customer's responsibility to check whether or not a visa is required for entry. Similarly, if you are coming from Canada, you need a passport to enter Spain. The same applies to Gibraltar (as it is a separate country); you must have the necessary documentation. We understand your frustration at not being able to visit Gibraltar; however, the passport information is very clear from the moment you make your booking. This information is included in the description before booking, in the OVERVIEW section, and in the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION section: - "Non-EU citizens must ensure their passport has a valid entry stamp for Spain or Europe. Otherwise, they will be unable to cross the border, and we cannot guarantee admission." - "All non-EU passengers must carry a valid passport with the appropriate entry stamp for Spain or Europe; without this documentation, entry into Gibraltar is not permitted and is beyond our control." "All passengers must carry a valid passport to access Gibraltar." "All participants must check in advance whether they require a visa to enter Gibraltar; this is the traveler's responsibility and must be arranged prior to the visit to avoid any issues." Two days before the tour, important information regarding their trip to Gibraltar was sent to them. At the beginning of the email, just below the meeting point information, we reiterated the need to bring their passport and included a link so they could double-check the visa requirement for their country of origin. In this case, we cannot offer any refunds. We fulfilled the service contracted through Viator: transportation, driver, and guided tour at the destination. It is not the agency's responsibility to provide compensation if clients forget to bring the only requirement necessary to cross the border. Gibraltar is a must see!

From Seville, it was a 2 hour drive and then about a 30 minute walk to the tour bus. This place is bustling. Our tour bus driver was David, born and raised in Gibraltar. We had 4 stops with included a visit to see monkeys. They were very friendly 😀. We had fish n chips for lunch. Gibraltar is actually a British colony. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our driver from Seville was Rafael, who was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Spectacular views, monkeys, caves, and history

When traveling solo, be aware that someone else also must sign up for the trip. The company was not inclined to drive from Seville to Gibraltar with only one passenger (understandably). Fortunately, someone else joined at the last minute. The visit itself was spectacular: Monkeys, caves, hundreds of years of history. Africa quite visible across the straits. Also, notable contrast between Spanish culture on one side of the demarcation line and British culture on the other. Definitely worth the trip. I did not need a visa though my traveling companions could not accompany me because they live outside the EU and would have needed UK visas.

Visiting the Rock

Jose drove us to the Rock from Sevilla and was so helpful, pleasant and personable. He made the drive there seem shorter than it was. Our driver from Brands was very knowledgeable, and shared a lot of great information. He took great care to ensure that we enjoyed meeting his friends, “the monkeys”. The views are absolutely stunning and the scope of the military operation inside the Rock was very interesting. There is so much history attached to this little spot in the world.

This was not up to your standards for a tour. I paid more for a private tour, but did not get what i expected. The driver picked us up in Seville as expected and drove us to the border of Gibraltar. He was fine, but at that point, we told us he would meet us there when we were finished. We crossed the border and were referred to another service. After a 30 minute wait we were assigned to a group of 5 other travelers (so much for the private tour). Ronnie, our new guide was knowledgeable enough but rattled off his information in a monotone. He then did it again in Spanish. We have been on tours with multiple languages, but I did not expect that on a private tour. Other than that, the tour was interesting, but not what I expected.

The tour itself was great. There seemed to be some difficulty with setting the exact meeting point. Several needless emails as to potential meeting spots. Travelers are busy and have little time to be monitoring their devices for unnecessary notices.

Not what was advertised

On the positive there was a driver who picked us up promptly and returned us. Unfortunately, he did not speak English so we followed the emailed instructions from the tour company to the buses but did not have enough time to walk across the border from where he dropped us off, go through their passport control, get on the city bus (bus 5 or 10) that made multiple stops prior to arriving at the tour bus terminal and locate the actual tour bus in the 40 minutes allocated. We are quite self sufficient and did attempt to walk up the hill to the funicular after we determined the bus was not an option only to learn it was closed for maintenance while waiting for a text response from the tour company. It was at this point I knew we were not going to have time to make it up to the top of the rock and back to meet the driver within our allotted three hours in Gibraltar. We have traveled to many different countries but never have been told to take public transportation as part of a guided tour! Really disappointing experience and waste of an entire day.
