Although the husky dog ride was awesome and the owners of the dogs very nice and enjoyable to talk to (as well as informative!) the tour felt very rushed . No one took us to hunt for northern lights (even though it was a very active night for the lights that night) which was 100% supposed to be included. This tour was nearly $600 for me and my husband and we used other tour companies for MUCH less on this trip who spent over 8 hours hunting with us AND included professional picture in the price (for around $90 a person) . Very disappointed . The price was much too high for the short experience (and the advertising is VERY misleading) Coming from a very experienced traveler, having booked MANY if these type tours, I do NOT recommend.

The tour guide that brought us to the husky place was good despite we did not manage to catch the northern lights. Special credit to the musher who took us for the husky ride was patient and explained to us on the different characteristics of the dogs and the different role that each dog has. However the owner that greeted us at the husky place is kind of hostile and bad attitude.

Both tour guides were good and knowledgeable
Fun husky ride
Sadly no northern lights as to much cloud cover
Sharon_r, Mar 2024
The husky ride was amazing, as was meeting the dogs afterwards. The sleigh driver/owner was wonderful and had plenty of time to chat. Driving on the lake at night was also great. For the price though the BBQ was very lacking, although our guides were very friendly.
Yesha_C, Mar 2024
The sled ride was only 25 mins which actually turned out to be a blessing because we were cramped on a sled with another couple (not fun having a random dude sitting in your lap). On top of that because the other couple were sitting in front of us all in one line we barely got to see the pups driving the sled. Didn’t see the northern lights but that’s out of anyone’s control. For the experience itself despite the northern lights, I would not recommend.

Amazing experience! We were quite fortunate to see the northern lights and the huskies were amazing. I recommend it to all!

The driver to the venue was great, as was the husky musher. The owner was flat rude, didn't introduce herself, told us nothing about the dogs or the place, simply told us what we couldn't do where we couldn't go and left! This trip is a 40 min drive out + 40 min back with a sausage for dinner in a teepee (the fire was not lit when we arrived) fifteen minutes around a track in open ground (no forest) and back for a marsh mellow. We were scammed!
Chiara_H, Jan 2024
We were picked up 40 minutes late to the experience. Once there, we did not go first for the ride and could then enjoy a little snack but were split and we had to wait 30 mins in the tent. Then we had the ride and it all felt very rushed. We had the chance for only a short picture before the owner told her staff that the next guests are already waiting. I asked the owner a question and she did not reply. Not warm or friendly at all. We then had to wait additional 25 mins after the ride and ask the driver several times before we were brought back to the city. Not worth the money (shorter time than mentioned), no explanation about any details. Felt like a ride not worth than 100EUR - but if you sell this for almost the double price, offer your guests a good experience.

Unfortunately we didn't see Aurora Borealis, but that experience with Husky ride at night in a remote place at minus 30 was very memorable. I think even if we saw it, we would be unable to express our excitement at such a cold night. I will definitely look for more comfortable way of enjoying Northern lights next time. Generally it would be better to have the fireplace more warm after ride as we were freezing. Our guides Aldo and Irene made great job, were very attentive and knowledgeable.
Rand_K, Jan 2024
Overall, this was a nice tour. Trying to see the Aurora Borealis doesn't factor into my review here in a negative way since this is really hard to predict and is weather-affected. It was too cloudy the night we went to see them. Fortunately, I was able to see them a couple nights prior. The ride itself was done at night, and has its pros and cons. If the weather is good for Aurora hunting, it's worth it. If not, then you really can't see a lot and the day time would be better. The ride was nice though and the dogs were very freindly. After the ride, we went to a tent to have some sausages and marshmallows around a fire along with some warm blueberry juice. That was really good. The tent was too small and probably should add another one. It was very chaotic when we initially showed up at the place to grab out gear before heading out. There was not a strong sense of where we should wait, when we were leaving, and who to follow. That part should probably improve. In the end, I did enjoy the tour but there are a few things that the tour company can improve on (within their capability) to make it better.

Great farm hosts and nice pick up staff that made this such a memorable experience. The open fire in the tent and the ride was great. Sadly it was cloudy and don’t have a chance to see those expected lights, have to come back :)
David_R, Jan 2024
The guide, Irene, was fantastic. We were picked up exactly on time and she explained the tour. The warm gear helped. The bonfire and sausage was not all that impressive and the dog sledding was super interesting but the path was a well worn circle that took around 30 min
Laura_W, Jan 2024
We had a great time sledding with the huskies on a particularly cold night. Everyone at the husky farm and the drivers who got us there safely were friendly and helpful. There were a lot of people in the group and particularly around the bbq at the end and there was a long wait time at the meeting point at the office at Nordic Unique Travels. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially if you arrive early. The husky experience itself though was well worth it.
Anthony_M, Dec 2023
The company cancelled last minute and we were unable to take the four. We asked around in town that night if the reason of tracks being to wet was reasonable. We were advised that this is absolutely BS!
Also have not refunded me my money and stated that it could take 5-7 days! Rubbish don’t waste your time with this company.
Shane_D, Dec 2023
The most memorable moments were spent with the huskies. The least memorable was the BBQ due to the space being too cramped due to a large number of people present. Do not rely on BBQ to satisfy hunger. The huskies were amazing, the owners were fantastic and were excellent with the kids. Overall a very good experience. The price means it’s a once on a lifetime experience.
Laura_T, Dec 2023
The dog ride was excellent. We bbq’d a sausage and marshmallow to eat afterwards. Just a shame there were no lights tonight.
Tiziana_C, Nov 2023
For that price i expected way more..instead of a short BBQ which was hurried, just to then be stressed onto the sleds without any words or introduction to the huskies, riding about 20min and then to see the huskies for just 10min and being stressed into the transfer Bus again…really way to expensive, and disappointing, sorry.
Sam_C, Nov 2023
Nice experience. Picked up promptly at hotel ( and returned). Guide (Euan) was good. Nice. Shared some history of the area. The BBQ was good. Sausage with mustard is excellent. Roasting marshmallows is a good time too.
It was 11-15F which is about as cold as I would really want it to be for the dog sled ride. I highly recommend bringing face covering to avoid a numb face on the dog sled ride!
Snow suit made the temperatures bearable.
We did not get to see the Northern Lights but that is just bad luck.
Claudio_J, Mar 2023
One of the experiences I will never forget. Riding at night on a dog sledge was... so, so, beautiful!!!!! And after that the bbq and the marshmallows with our wonderful guide. I say to everybody: just do it!

The husky tour was nice but I would reccomend to do the tour in daylight.
The people were Nice and friendley.

Mother Nature played her role and we didn’t see the Northern lights but that’s always a gamble, the Husky ride was superb however and the trek was long enough ( 20mins or so ) at -10° temps ( believe
me the suspension tells u it’s long enough hahah )
Great people involved, conversation didn’t run dry. Afterwards we had a BBQ about 10mins away at a BBQ site next to a small river, the location was superb / freezing cold but the warmth of the fire was perfect as was the sausages / marshmallows ( read a few moaning on previous visits saying u had 1 small sausage each. That’s a lie, we had 2 and could’ve had more if we wanted ( same for the marshmallows ). Recommended and I’d like to do the daytime version.

This tour doesn't guarantee northern light experience. If you want northern light, best is get the PHOTOGRAPHY NORTHERN LIGHT HUNT. You will drive around in a vehicle to search for the best spots for the best chance to see northern light.
This tour is basically a family run business by a couple wherein they live near the Nampajarvi lake and they take you for a husky ride around the lake at night. Lucky if the sky is clear and there is northern light. Else it is JUST A SUPER EXPENSIVE SINGLE ROUND HUSKY RIDE AROUND A LAKE AT NIGHT for LESS THAN 30 minutes. NOTHING MORE!
Also, there is only ONE HUSKY RIDE for maximum of 4 persons. So if the group is big, the rest of the people will need to sit inside a tent and wait for everyone to be done. The tour guide is very helpful in making this as entertaining as possible, but it is so boring inside the tent waiting. Another thing is, there is no WC in the compound for you to use. You will need to talk to the tour guide, then the tour guide will still ask for permission from the owner so that you can use the WC inside their private home. The whole time, of course, the owners will be very very uncomfortable for letting strangers inside their home.

Very lucky to see such a display of the northern lights! The husky sled ride was brilliant, a little spooky at night but breath taking. Cooking sausages and marshmallows on the fire after warmed us up!! Wrap up with plenty of layers, kids will get very cold, wear ski goggles if you have them to keep your face warm.

We were unfortunate during our visit in that at the start of our husky ride there was an accident in which a dog got potentially seriously hurt, and we got pulled in to a lamp post. Since then my son hasn’t stopped asking how the doggy was. It was a little traumatic A; being suddenly jolted in to a post, and B; hearing the absolute screams from the dog whimpering.
The owner of the dogs was shocked and very much comforting the dog which was lovely to see, but it totally took away the experience for us. We then went for a husky ride without one of the dogs and it was just hard to enjoy it knowing what had just happened to the dog whilst being in shock from crashing in to a post.
Secondly the weather was so cloudy we didn’t even go looking for the northern lights so that was a complete waste of money. We could have paid half the amount and done just a husky experience.
I’m sure our experience was completely unique and unfortunate. The tour guide was lovely and bubbly, but the trauma from the accident plays on my mind, and my sons.

The only reason I’m giving a 2 star rating not 1 because the tour guide Federico was a super nice and knowledgeable gentleman. Otherwise It’s a 1 Star experience. The program provider is the Nordic Unique Travels in Rovaniemi.
They delayed the tour 2 hours and nobody ever called or texted me or sent an e-mail. Nor the tour organizer or Viator they didn’t even apologized. The winter clothes you’ll get was used a 1000 times and you have a small changing room that you’ll share with at least 30 other people, no restrooms .The Ride itself takes no more then 10 (!!!) minutes and it takes place on a frozen lake instead of the forest. Ot takes about 45 minutes driving there. You will absolutely not chasing the northern lights at all they just want to accomplish the ride like an assembly and get rid of everyone. You won’t ever hear the words northern lights. So you’ll spend 10 min Riding with 3 additional people in the sled in a really uncomfortable position then travel 30 min to a place by the highway to eat a really small sausage. And you’ll spend 220 $ for this experience. You won’t get any refund if you weren’t satisfied. Usually I only leave reviews if it’s 5 star because I don’t like to give bed reviews. But this time I feel that I have to me an exemption and warn the others that don’t spend your hardly earned money on this tour if you don’t like the above mentioned because this is the real description of the tour. By the way if you still decide to go ahead and buy the tour it’s cheaper ($179) per person in there office in Rovaniemi. You won’t receive any benefits if you buy them online it’s more expensive and they won’t give you any assistance only excuses.

Our guide Linda was very friendly and took good care of us, the husky experience was wonderful although we didn’t get to see the northern lights
The only down side was that the bbq was not on the husky site and once we had waited for the other group to have their turn it was very late to take another car drive and start cooking sausages so we decided to end the tour , Linda was very accommodating and took us back to our hotel.
It was certainly a memorable experience
Courtney_B, Nov 2022
There is far too much downtime and poor coordination on this tour. There is a lot of unnecessary driving, and the 'sausages' are pointless (and not filling at all as a dinner). We arrived back at our hotel tired (11:30 PM) and hungry. I contacted the company to discuss what happened but haven't heard anything. Do not book with them.
Amanda_A, Nov 2022
If you are going to try and see the northern lights this is the way to go. We paid for a different company to take us hunting and we didn’t get to see them, so it felt like we paid to be stuck in a car all night. At least with this tour you get the awesome experience of the Husky ride regardless. Since you can’t guarantee northern lights might as well enjoy yourself! We had a great time with our guide and have memories to last a lifetime.
Justine_M, Nov 2022
I want to start by saying, this was a truly magical, once in a lifetime experience. And for that reason I really want to assist this company with what I hope will be considered constructive criticism...a few little changes would make this awesome. Firstly, I know our guide was only new to the country and company but I think he could have been a lot more interactive, a simple introduction and welcome would have been nice. I still don't know his name!? I only know he's new by overhearing a conversation with a guest in the front seat. Also, a possibility might be to get into the outdoor gear at the husky park... going to the office was time consuming and also meant we witnessed a very disgruntled customer whose booking was messed up and our guide just didn't have the experience to know how to deal with it. He just seemed like he was winging it. If this was my company I would ditch the "barbeque" which was one sausage - you wouldn't want to be hungry. Again the guide was winging it, no chat or information about where we were or anything!? I want to end on a positive and repeat that the actual sleigh ride was truly magical, a real bucket list moment. I would have loved to be able to pet and interact with the dogs but I understand they are in "work mode", the owner and other staff at park were lovely and so passionate about welfare of the huskies, I would and have recommended this to people so I hope you appreciate my constructive feedback.
