Hell’s Gate is located just outside of Rotorua’s city centre. From the city simply travel east on SH30. At approximately 5 minutes past the airport, you will turn right towards Whakatane. Hell’s Gate is 3kms down this road.

The minimum age for the mud baths is 2.5 years of age, whereas for the sulphur spa is 6 months of age.
The mud bath has a time-limit of 20 minutes once a day for health and safety reasons.
The chemical makeup of our muds and waters will tarnish most jewellery, particularly silver. We recommend removing it and waiting 24 – 48 hours to put it back on.
Your swimwear and towels will have a sulphur smell to them after your experience and will need to be cleaned thoroughly. We recommend using old swimwear, or if you have any concerns to hire or buy from Hell’s Gate, subject to availability.
Not Recommended for travelers with Sulphur Allergies.

The twilight experience is wonderful, quiet, and peaceful. I don't know if the mud is magic, but the deep relaxation was what the doctor ordered. I mean that, I felt better after and I think if you are actively working on getting your body feeling better this experience will help you find the inner zen you might need for your health journey.
