Even though it was raining a little bit and so the views were not as good, we had a really great time. The Tournay waterfall was very full flowing. Our guide, his name is escaping me, was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, clearly passionate about the forest and history. We saw a pair of toucans near the Vista Chinesa! Minimal walking on this tour, which was good because my daughter has a torn ACL. Would love to come back and hike more in Tijuca. Absolutely worth it!

Hiking Experience

It was a nice experience, mainly the waterfalls. I did not expect to go on hiking trails as I was not prepared for that. So be sure to wear some old sneakers, pack a small rain jacket and some snacks plus water. And eat before you start the excursion also!

Well worth doing

Fantastic Jane the groups guide showed us around the national park point loads of the fauna and explained the history of the park in great detail and enthusiasm which rubbed off on all of us. Also while travelling around picking others up from there hotels Jane told us about other places on route. Our drive was very good and drove at a very safe speed where you felt safe with him behind the wheel.

Disappointing tour. It wasn’t as good as I had expected. Spent too long at a few sights when we could have seen more places. The tour guide was ok but kept repeating stuff multiple times to each group rather than addressing us all together. Tour operator was 45 mins late picking us up from hotel. Failed to respond to any messages.

Beautiful scenery, excellent guide Alex gave great information. He was very knowledgeable! You can tell he loves the forest. Filipe the driver was excellent. The short hike was easily manageable. A truly wonderful experience in nature.

Tujuca Forest Jeep Tour

We had a great time with our tour guide Lea and driver Guerrero. The ride was pleasantly smooth and cushions on the seat were very comfortable. This is an excellent tour of the Tujuca forest. We saw monkeys playing, carp fish, turtles, a museum with other historical artifacts, and several waterfalls. It was a great adventure to walk through the forest and see nature at its finest. This was a surprisingly very interesting tour. Make sure you do it but be sure you wear comfortable shoes. We loved this tour. If you love nature, you will love it too!

Awful experience

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. No one arrived to collect me from my hotel. Instead they sent a man to wait with me who also did not have a clue what was going on. After making several calls to the company, he told me that the transport was at a hotel in Copacabana...(my hotel is in Barra). I sent the operator upwards of 10 messages with no responses. As a solo female traveller I felt incredibly vulnerable and am shocked at the ineptitude of this company. Do not use

NEVER take this trip on Sunday or Holiday

NEVER take this tour on a Sunday or Holiday. The park restricted jeeps to so many every 2 hours, which lead to this being a disastrous trip. Ourguide Gabriel tried his best but there was mixup in hotel pickups which made us late to the park. Jeep could not enter for another 2 hours, so we walked to first waterfall, which was nice but a max of 30 minutes was required. We were stuck there for 2 hours until jeep could pick us up. After that all we had time for was a quick drive thru the park and back home. A very, very, very disappointing trip. We were so late we almost missed another Viator tour that afternoon.

The tour was a beautiful, historical nature walk through the Tijuca Rainforest. Our tour also had other amazing stop points to view the city as a whole. The driver Fabio, was courteous, safe, and made a great effort to get us to our next destination.

The pick up process smooth as they picked you up right at your hotel and wven worked with you as to where you wanted to be dropped off. The trip itself was an amazing experience inside the Tijuca Rainforest! A special thanks to our guide Amelia amd driver Bruno—they were both really welcoming and friendly!! Highly recommend for a half day trip!!

Very pleasant tour, great guide, great way to see a lot, very fast. Good for people who can't walk too much. It's not my case, but all other tours were charging huge extras for solo travelers, so I hopped on that one and was very happy with everything.

Our guide, Paulo, was highly knowledgeable, and our driver expert. The forest gives one an entirely different experience of Rio from the beaches. We'll definitely take friends with us the next time we visit the city!

Better to explore Tijuca yourself!

You’re crammed into an open air jeep for a long drive. Once you arrive in Tijuca, the tour feels rushed. There were many things to do and see in Tijuca, routes to hike which our group was prepared for, but our trip host said he didn’t have time which was unacceptable to me. We got all of these explanations about trees, never went far enough in or towards the routes where we could see animals. Just disappointing overall. Also, you spend so much time with your back to the sun that my friend and I got sunburnt wherever possible, despite having on sunscreen. One guide hardly spoke, he just drove. Nice guys, pretty forest, but wouldn’t recommend this tour. You can hike it yourself and have a better time.

Great guide but tour itself is okay

The jeep itself was cool but the tour itself is literarily walking around the jungle with no animals to be spotted (unless you count six new mosquitoes bites I collected during the tour as encountered with animals). The tour guide, Andrea was great so five stars for Andrea. Other than that, if you book the tour thinking you’d see exotic animals, you’ll be disappointed
