This is great small experience. All in one. Seems a little deserted but honestly I like it that way! Chill calm vibes and I even got to make my own cigar! We will be coming back again!

I thought overall the cigar part of the tour was by far the best. So much information and so cool to watch them roll the cigars. People giving that tour were extremely friendly.
I feel the rest of the tour, the chocolate, the coffee, the rum, all of the employees were extremely rude to us. Instead of being a rum-tasting excursion, they wanted you to pay $3 per iddy, bitty, tiny shot of their rum. If you didn't pay $3 per shot, they would just walk away from you. The rum tasting was supposed to be included in the tour. We weren't going to buy if we weren't able to taste it. For the very small amount of the shot they were going to give you, they could have given it for free as it was supposed to be included in the excursion, like the ad had stated.

Good morning, thank you very much for your review. We'd like to clarify that the tour fee alone does not cover the cost of the hotel pick-up and drop-off. A regular taxi would charge $40 each way, while you only paid $2.50. This fee doesn't even cover the cost of gas. Regarding the rum tasting, we have a limit; we can offer you one glass of each rum. Many people purchase the experience of seeing how artisanal cigars are made. In other places, they just take you to a shop to buy them and that's it. Here, you experience the whole process.

Great one stop shopping! All you may want to take back for souvenirs is in one spot and the people are not aggressive. Can taste rum, make your own cigar and sample local coffee. Salespeople are helpful and will guide you from store to store. Prices are reasonable.

Good morning. Thank you very much for your review. We would like to remind you that the tour lasts two and a half hours. However, if you finish your tour before that time, you must wait for the other clients who arrived on the same transport as you to finish. We don't send a separate vehicle each time a client finishes; instead, we send the entire group to that area. We cannot move a vehicle for just one person who finished their tour early.

Not at all what I expected. We were picked up taken to a very small private (gated) area that had a cigar shop, a run shop, a coffee shop, and a shop that had chocolate, mamajuana, and some beauty products. Everything was overpriced, the staff (if you could find any) was not very friendly. We basically walked through the buildings and had to ask to be taken back to our resort. We ran into another couple from USA who had the exact same experience. The drivers spoke very little English.

It's important to note that the price of this tour doesn't cover transportation costs, as a regular taxi would charge around $50 round trip. Many of our customers come for the experience of seeing how handcrafted cigars are made, and for the tasting of local cacao rums. This experience is enjoyed for these reasons.

Jose was my guide, they pick you up in the morning and take you to the excursion, your transport is private however they’re very attentive to you. The excursion was nothing short of amazing and I’d recommend everyone to do this especially if Jose is your guide

The pickup for our resort was NOT at the front of the resort!!! Instead it was at the security gate which was about a 5 minute walk!!!

Indeed, as our team mentioned, the Hotel Catalonia has a strict policy that prohibits external tour operators from entering their premises to pick up clients unless the booking was made directly with the hotel. This is a rule established by the hotel which, unfortunately, is beyond our control.
We understand this can be confusing and frustrating, and we are sorry for the situation, but these are their policies. Usually, customers simply ask the hotel bellhop to take them to the security barrier in a golf cart, where our guide would be waiting for them.
We appreciate your understanding regarding this external policy and we hope that, despite this initial setback, you were still able to enjoy the tour itself.

For a couple bucks, this was a fun little outing. I’m glad I did it. It’s a decent way to kill some time if you’re bored. Obviously it’s basically just a shopping center where they want you to buy things, so know that going in. But I actually did get to try lots of things.
There are a few little buildings with a different item in each building. At Don Lucas you can see them rolling the cigars which is kind of cool, and they gave me a free cigar. There’s a jewelry shop and gift store. At the bar you can try a couple tastes of rum for free. At the chocolate shop they let me try a couple bites of chocolate for free.
I didn’t have to wait long at all for a ride back to the hotel, although I can imagine there are times when all the vans are out and you might have to wait for one to come back and get you.

My family and I experienced good and bad customer service during this tour. The cigar room and the chocolate room were great but the rest of the tour was horrible. The first room with cigars, the tour guide explain how the tobacco leaves are prepared for the cigars and we took pictures with the cigar makers. Next we went to a room with jewelry. The jewelry was overpriced. My mother-in-law asked the lady working to see smaller jewelry and the lady called us “cheap bastards” in Spanish not realizing that even though we are American we can speak and understand Spanish on an intermediate level. The next room had souvenir shopping. The workers charged my mother-in-law $1 for post cards then tried to charge my husband $1.50 for the same post cards so he decline to buy them. We were ready to leave at this point but my son wanted to go to chocolate room. We skipped the rum room and went to the chocolate room. The chocolate room workers were friendly and let us taste many samples of chocolate. My mother-in-law and I bought small jewelry, souvenirs, and chocolate. My husband and father-in-law bought cigars. Yet how we were treated on parts of the tour was horrible. Do not recommend.

Overall great experience on the actaul tour. They do warn this trip is not for people with back problems which I found odd at time of booking and assumed was stock language (mistake on my part). I do think they should specify that the transportation is the reason. During my stay in Punta Cana had several excursions and the transport was no problem - whatever vans they are driving (manual) either the transmission is severely lacking or drivers do not know how to drive stick - if you even have the minimum of back problems I cannot recommend this tour operator. Have a taxi take you, arrange a different transport, anything is better. It aggravated my back which was in otherwise good shape prior and shaved a day off my vacation. I feel it's only fair to warn others. This is not a ding on the friendliness or experience otherwise with actual drivers and on the tour.

Greetings, the hotel where you are staying is in Uvero Alto, 35 minutes from Punta Cana, perhaps due to the distance. All of our drivers are certified to drive trucks. As for coming by taxi, I don't recommend it, since a taxi to move your car from Uvero Alto to our store costs $40, meaning a round-trip cost of $80.

** NOT as advertised. During book we were told our experience would last 3 hours. Once we arrived at the location however, the driver told us we would only have 2 hours. And after only 1 hour the driver said they were leaving and if we wanted a ride we would have to leave immediately. Overall we were given less than an hour there and we were only able to visit the cigar tasting and the gift shop. They require you to go through the shops in a certain order and require you to stay with the group you arrived with. There were only 6 of us in the group, but there were other groups there when we arrived, so we were not given time for the rum tasting, chocolate tasting, or coffee tasting. Very disappointed.

Greetings, thank you very much for your comment. Our guided tour lasts 2.5 minutes to walk through the shop and see how cigars are made. We don't require customers to wait longer. If they want to stay longer, they can. In your case, I'm surprised because we've never required any time. However, if the customer has finished and wants to leave, or if someone in their party wants to leave, they will be returned to the hotel.We don't charge customers for the guided tour; just 50 cents. We pick you up at your hotel and return you so you can come and see how cigars are made. If you'd like to buy gifts, we'll be happy to help. We're here to help whenever you want.

Wonderful tour! We both really enjoyed trying the rum, and chocolate. We could have tried the cigars but we are not smokers. Great time and an amazing price! No one pressures you to purchase anything. They allow you to walk around and check everything out on your own.

Despite the weather, the shopping tour excursion was just what we needed to end our trip. This was a birthday trip for my boyfriend and his first time to D.R. The cigar factory was educational and hands on. He was in heaven in the cigar store with so many options. The rum tasting and Cocoa tasting were fun. We left with so many exclusive D.R. items. Definitely recommend for the cigar and rum enthusiast.

1st they are not factories, no cigar rolling, pay for drinks except the DR mixed one and coconut. Terrible! Busses left 5 of us behind. We were told there was no room for us. They took us there, they should have brought us back. We were told another bus would be back to pick us up. After an hour, a tour bus was dropping people off and we basically begged him to get us back. He was very kind, made a call and brought all of us back. This was a very uneasy, terrible experience.

This was a great little opportunity to leave the hotel lol. The tour was to be a 2 hr but everything was done in 1 hr. The cigar ppl are so awesome and well informative with a cigar of your choice for sample (loved that). We had the liquor tasting which was also good, the coffee tasting was very short and you only taste 1 of the many options they have. The chocolate section was great! You have the option to taste all the chocolate available, you take chocolate tea & cocoa tea ( there is a difference here). It was relaxing.

We thought going to rum cigar and cacao “ factory”,not a couple stores!!!! Dry disappointing outing and lacking good shopping too! The jewelry store was terrible .. I expected to see one nice item. Also, there was no one in the rum room at all empty couldn’t even buy the tortuga cakes

We signed up for Don Lucas and got sent to some crappy Bella souvenir shop with an open air humidor. We asked about Don Lucas and first the driver pretended not to know, second time we asked he sent us to the fake don Lucas guy rolling cigars and tried to distract us, and third we asked he said it was closed, the fourth time we asked he said don't know if they are open but they charge exorbitant taxes and then we walked out and asked for refund. We walked literally 5-10 min towards downtown... Was no more than 1500m away and walked into Don Lucas. It was open. People were nice. We bought two boxes of cigar, 4 bottles of nice rum, chocolate and a bunch of little things. We asked the Don Lucas people about this.. they said sometimes drivers do counterfeit tours and they gave us a full tour and free ride back to hotel
