We loved this tour! Henry our guide made the experience incredible. He was friendly, knowledgeable, answered all our questions and truly went above and beyond to show us Punta Cana and beyond. The church was gorgeous, we really enjoyed seeing the farmhouse with acres of cocoa trees and much more. Highly recommended!

It is well worth it. This is a great way to see how locals live. You also get to see how beautiful the countryside is.

Henry was fabulous giving us a person tour of areas in Punta Cana. He made the tour special sharing his knowledge.

Our tour guide was great, friendly and knowledgeable about the area!! We loved seeing the culture and meeting the locals on our tour.

Guides Annie and Henry were excellent. They took our group of 7 in a comfy A/C van with no other pickups. We went to all the places except the beach because we already had a beachfront resort stay. They were flexible and paid attention to our level of energy and age groups. Truly a perfect half day trip with great photos by Annie. We tipped $30 USD at the end.

Overall the tour was great. The guide was very informative and explained a lot to us about how the coffee and cocoa was made in a local village. Then we went to the Basilica which was beautiful and very quiet. Next we went to a tobacco factory to see how cigars were made by hand which was very interesting to see. Our final stop was for souvenirs. We were also under the impression that we were supposed to visit Macao beach but the guide had no clue about this and when he contacted the tour operator they explained that the area was closed due to construction so we were unable to go. It would have been good to have been made aware of this when we first booked the tour and then to be either offered a refund or given the opportunity to visit another beach but that didn’t happen.

We had Will as a tour guide and Christian as a driver. We had such a wonderful experience on this private tour. We learned so much about the Dominican Culture. This tour is nice because you are on your own time. You can stay as long or as little as you like as each stop. Will is very friendly and knowledgeable. I am so glad we found this tour and would highly recommend it.

Our tour guide and driver Francisco was extremely friendly, informative and professional. We learned alot of history of DR
Mackenzie_G, Jul 2025
Francisco was amazing! So knowledgeable, sweet and funny! He went above and beyond for us and made the experience so memorable! The air conditioned van was such a luxury! The private tour was so nice because we could stay or leave when we wanted without waiting for others. 100% recommend!
Kyle_W, Apr 2025
Great great day! Having our personal tour guide allowed us to learn so much about DR. The cigar stop and the house were our favorites.

Absolutely terrific! Would highly recommend this excursion. But, this survey having a 100 character minimum is really annoying.

I'm not sure if this is always a private tour or if we were just lucky, but we had Luis to ourselves. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was longer than advertised, probably because he didn't rush us at all, even when we asked a million questions about everything. We visited a farm, a cigar making business, and the basilica. He tried to take us to see the inside of another church but they were closed for lunch. The tour would have ended with a visit to Macao Beach, shopping, and lunch at a cafe, but we asked to return to the resort (we were just tired and didn't want to shop).
Take some cash with you so you can buy something at the coffee/cacao farm, as well as tip the cigar makers (and tip your guide, of course!).
Don't wear any skimpy clothing if you want to get inside the basilica. Luckily, I'd worn longer shorts and a shirt with sleeves, but a girl was turned away for having short shorts on.
We had a long drive past several little towns, and it was great to get away from the resort and see some of the DR. Next time, Santo Domingo!

Tour guide is fluently speak english and very informative.
Everything is ok for the trip except the giftshop in Higuey that very hard sale and overpriced like scammers shop. I was overcharged for 1 magnet and 1 necklace almost 200 USD and also was forced to tip them without consent.

Excellent knowledgeable Guide/Driver.
The car broke down and had to be replaced mid-tour, causing delay.

We enjoyed our day with Annie and Noel (our driver). Of special interest was visiting the typical Dominican house, and tasting a fresh cocoa bean. While we weren't interested in the cigar-making, we learned some facts about it. It would be nice if you had the option to do something else (like learning more about the chocolate-making process instead). Also, there were too many souvenir shopping stops - suggest one less. Noel was a super driver and on the Dominican roads and traffic that's saying a lot. He was very friendly and easygoing. Annie was full of information about Dominican history, which we appreciated learning about. Overall, this is a great way to learn a bit about the Dominican Republic and its people and culture.

Great experience getting to learn about Dominican culture in the Higuey Province. Would love to see some Museums added in if possible but over great tour, great customer service and our guide was very patient with us. The Walmert has cheaper prices for souvenirs. The cigar making was a lot of fun.

This was a great experience. Annie was our tour guide. We were picked up on time and basically had a private tour of Punta Cana. Meeting the family, visiting the cathedrals and the cigar shop was a great way to engage with the people of this wonderful place. The best part was it didn't take an entire day.

Annie (guide) and Brian (driver) made this a wonderful tour! They took us to Macao Beach, local farm/plantation (tasted fresh cocoa bean, coffee, hot cocoa), cigar factory (we rolled a cigar and tasted local rum and Mamajuana), Basilica in Higuey, and a local souvenir market/shop. Throughout the entire trip, they were personal, warm, friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs and safety. We gained a great feel for the area near our resort. Thanks, Annie (and Brian)!

We had an amazing tour with our guide and driver. They were very knowledgeable on Dominican culture and history and getting to see the different sites of Punta Cana was exciting. Visiting. The first home on the island was very educational. Highly recommend this tour.

Love seeing the family home and lifestyle as well as the various plants in their back yard. Everyone very nice that we meet
Angela_T, Aug 2024
Everything was wonderful. The church was beautiful, the making of the cigar interesting, the beach fantastic, and the market nice. I particularly liked the plants around the authentic house and the making of coffee and cocoa.
LaTondra_F, Apr 2024
Seeing the Dominican country side along with visiting an actual home being lived in. Discovering how chocolate is made and xploring the 5 century old church.
Patti_R, Apr 2024
Excellente! Recommended.
Very interesting. Tour guide Will was very good and pleasant to talk to. It was fun!
LeRoy_D, Dec 2023
We had a great time and each stop had its own unique flavor of the DR. Pablo our guide was very knowledge and always gracious towards us.
Nick_I, Oct 2023
Highly recommend this booking, my wife and I were picked up in a van with ice cold a/c. For the price you can not beat it, you get to see a coffee/cocoa plantation, an old style house, basilica, downtown market, cigar shop with great cigars and great prices.
Tarik_G, Sep 2023
Will (out tour guide) and Kevin (our driver) did an amazing job.
The sites we visited were interesting and gave us an opportunity about more of the D.R. Culture. Will has great knowledge of the Dominican and is a lot of fun.
Also, a really good tour if you’re visiting DR on a shorter trip, we were picked up at 9a and were back at 1p.
Dakotah_L, Aug 2023
My wife and I went with Pablo yesterday! We had so much fun. We’d highly recommend him as a tour guide. He answered tons of questions, showed us around, and made us feel safe at every stop. We really loved the cigar factory and the cocoa bean stop. Bring enough cash for locals!
Nikhil_P, Apr 2023
Must do trip if you like to explore the culture and country. Our guide, Joel was friendly and knowledgeable. We started the trip shopping at the local market. Next was a visit to one of the local farm houses experiencing thier daily activities. Visit to the tobacco factory was fun as we got to roll and smoke cigars. The La Basilica church is beautiful. Finally a stop at the Macau beach were you can enjoy some fresh coconut water. Beware of the vendors trying to sell stuff.
Overall, a great experience connecting to the local culture.
Charles_B, Jul 2022
What a great time. Pablo was our guide and he was very hospitable and knowledgable. The tour was varied and I felt like I got a good sampler of the culture. Would recommend.
Jess_A, Jul 2022
Pablo was a wonderful guide and the tour was the highlight of our trip. We appreciate the little things he did to make it more personable such as buying us habichuelas con dulce. 100% recommend. We skipped the beach, but you can use that time to find somewhere else or spend more time at one of the stops
