Great way to experience the culture

Our guide Danillo was great, he is knowledgeable and friendly. We saw the countryside, Higuey town center and the basilicas, lunch, cigar rolling and Macao beach. . Lunch was a highlight, delicious typical Dominican food, he even made guacomole and tostones! NOTE: The Viator description should be updated, this tour includes a short/optional horseback ride in the country. Also it is a full day, with drive time it was 10 hours, but a great time!

Not What I Was Hoping For

This was certainly a nitty gritty view of Dominican life, but we spent too much time on shopping and being persuaded to purchase items to "help" the people. Our guide was nice and very knowledgeable, but we saw much of the city by van. We only visited one really interesting old church. I was hoping for more historical buildings. We also rode horses, although it wasn't much of a ride. The guide led us to the back of the property and then we came back. Not terribly exciting. The buffet meal was okay, but not anything special.

Our tour guide was Theo. Super nice informative and flexible. Definitely recommend it. He showed us the local market church even the process of making chocolate and coffee in detail.

Tao was our tour guide.. Very knowledgeable of history, spoke very good English, drove with care and was very attentive to our needs. Took great pictures. The horse back riding was interesting… but fun.

Had an amazing first hand local experience with this great tour. Our guide Danillo picked us from the hotel and we had almost 8 activities for $49 per person including horse ride, basilica tour, lunch and much more. Lunch was typical Dominican Republic and was so tasty. Strongly recommended as a cultural learning and Danillo is very knowledgeable as a guide :)
