The ATVs was a great treat and birthday experience. The cave was nice, the shopping and the tasting was very informative. It rained very hard and the tour went on.. BEST outdoor experience ever and I’m a country girl at heart but still girly girl but made my 50th Birthday the best highlight of my day! I highly recommend.

We loved loved everything about this excursion! Staff was nice and knowledgeable and made it fun. Pictures that were taken was top tier for a reasonable price. I would definitely do this again when visiting the DR again.

We had such an amazing time on our buggy tour! Communication was great from start to finish — everything was well organized and easy to follow. The team was super friendly, made us feel comfortable, and kept the vibes fun the entire trip. The ride itself was so much fun and full of great views. I went with my partner, and we both had an unforgettable experience. Definitely a 10/10 — highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!

Pretty disappointed with this company

This experience was mediocre, we would not do it again- here is why: To start, the pickup/dropoff at our resort was timely and communication for that was great. The buggy was fun to experience, but there is only ONE mud puddle to go through and it smells like sewer. You spend about 1 hour total driving the buggy. Photographer taking pictures to buy at the end- all pictures for $40 (negotiable). The first stop was a hut with overpriced souvineers, pushy sellers, and good tastings of mamajuana, hot chocolate, and coffee. Spent too much time here. No photographer. Next stop was the stunning Macao beach, of which you had pushy sellers talking to you and only 15 minutes to enjoy the water/beach. No photographer. Last stop was the cave- best part of the trip. Pushy sellers once again. SO busy to get into the cave, took about 10 minutes of waiting in a line, a quick jump in, get out after about one minute, and NO PHOTOGRAPHER😭 What is the point of having a professional photographer in the group if he is not going to the stops? Half of the reason I booked this trip was for a cave picture- and there were other photographers there taking our pictures, but the were with other businesses and no way we could purchase them. How disappointing. OH and when we got out of the cave, we went to find our group and they had started leaving us on the buggies. Apparently they didn't have enough time dedicated to jumping in the cave and going to the bathroom. Overall- I would give this a 4/10. Mediocre experience but would not do it again with this company.

Family first buggy

No instructions so I had to let the family know what’s up because I been to another location before. Buggy was old and kept stopping in traffic and we had to stayed back the entire time. Wish they had or purchase newer ones. Kids love it but not the part that we had to keep calling for help to get it started. Will do it again but maybe another company.

The trails were the perfect mix of rugged, scenic, and just challenging enough to keep things exciting. Every excursion in DR takes a long time to get going. I appreciate the effort every company puts in to getting all these people together so we can see and do some fun stuff. We went to a souvenir shop, which is how pretty much every excursion starts. This was my least favorite excursion on my vacation. My number 1, no one tried to sell us anything the entire time. Gotta hand it to the DR people, they can hustle like a mofo. We did not get to spend much time at each location and people try to sell so hard its uncomfortable. I saw other buggy going by and the people had helmets on for safety. It was a bit disorganized and rushed. Also this excursion had THE LONGEST wait time for us to get started. Like 3 hours.

Stole my money/overcharged me

The experience itself was great! However, when we stopped to our first stop to learn about cocoa and coffee, I was overcharged. I purchased souvenirs and the price came to $90 US dollars and that's what we agreed on. He tried to get me to purchase more items but I respectfully declined. I didn't want to use all my cash so I used my debit card. When I checked my bank account the following day, I saw I was charged $121 US dollars. I contacted the number I had on hand the same day to advise. He said he will see what he can do. I followed up today and no response. They are thieves and criminals. They over price their stuff. The cocoa I bought was $20 and I saw it for $10 the next day at spot when I went on a tour. Same thing for the vanilla extract $20 and I got it for $10. He was trying to sell me a hair mask for $40 US dollars which I declined. Got the same hair mask for $12 us dollars. I am very disappointed.

I truly enjoyed my experience, everything was amazing!! I didn’t feel like we were rushed at all, as others stated in the reviews. The only thing I dislike is the HUSTLE. Someone is constantly in your face trying to sell you something. I had to get a little mean just to get them to STOP. But this has nothing to do with the actual ATV experience and the company. The staff was amazing and the picture guy was ON POINT. We got amazing photos at a reasonable price. Overall very happy with my experience and would recommend. Definitely bring cash also, no Apple Pay, no credit cards, no debit cards. Bring cash only -unless you want to be overcharged.

The atv was probably the only decent thing in my opinion. We didn't go over 25 mph. The leader who was the driver kept stopping to make sure ppl was catching up. It was running out of gas. We didn't get to go through much mud. It was kinda boring im not going to lie. But to each their own. We first got on the atv to drive like 3 mins to the lil chocolate and coffee store. Tasted pretty okay. Then got on atv to ride to cenote. I kid you not We stayed there for 5-7 mins no lie. Can't get in water if you cant swim for real bring ur own floaties or vest, and bandana to cover you whils riding. After cenote we had to park somewhere and walk to beach, which was a decent view. But I wouldn't book that excursion again. I'll only go for just atv. Thats it

The activity was not bad. The terrible thing was that, after having ordered the backpack with a mobile phone, stored in the presence of a member of the team, who told us that the place was safe, not to worry, because if we took it it would end up muddy with mud. Oh surprise, when I returned from the activity, when I checked the backpack, the phone was no longer there. They stole it. We immediately contacted by WhatsApp to the number of the operator who contacted us and they said not to worry, that there were cameras and that they would find the person in charge, that there would be layoffs and finally nothing happened. They kept the phone, documents and credit cards, which were in the phone case. We will never go back to that place

Too much time spent at vendors and not enough time on the buggies. We didn’t go through an adventure park and the cenote was not easily accessible and very dark. Hardly anyone from our group got in. Driver, Melkey was great and the hosts at the biggie excursion were great.

This excursion was a lot of fun. I did sign up for ATVs not side by sides. But they ended up giving me a side-by-side. I guess in the fine print it says it'll be either one. Which I did not see so that's my bad. Make sure to bring a bandana with you because they say one is included with your trip and it's not you have to purchase one. And make sure to bring sunscreen it gets very hot. The guides were very nice for this trip. The locals definitely do come up to you and try to make you purchase things from their shops pretty aggressively

We booked this excursion with high expectations after reading the positive reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was completely different. 🚐 Transportation Nightmare Our driver arrived early at 1:35 p.m., which seemed like a great start — but that was where the positives ended. The driver was rude, gave no information about the trip, and parked at the wrong resort for more than 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the van filled with exhaust fumes, and to make things worse, we discovered we were locked inside. My husband had to climb over the front seat to open the door so we could get out for fresh air. When the driver saw us outside, he got upset — only to realize later that he was at the wrong property all along. 🏞️ Misleading Activity Description The orientation was actually very informative, giving great detail about what to expect. Unfortunately, what followed didn’t match the description. Each stop felt like a sales pitch, where vendors pressured us to buy overpriced souvenirs and mamajuana — I was quoted $72 USD for six magnets that weren’t even good quality. The listing on Viator mentioned “knee-deep water” in the cave, but it was at least 25 feet deep, and again, we were met with more aggressive selling. ☕ Tasting Experience We were excited to try the coffee, chocolate, and mamajuana tastings, but even this was disappointing. The samples were served hot in the open sun, making it uncomfortable, and the mamajuana tasted watered down and not authentic — it lacked the rich, bold flavor you expect from true Dominican mamajuana. 🏖️ Macao Beach Disappointment The final stop at Macao Beach was the worst part. The beach area was covered in horse manure, making it difficult to walk around. Then came a heavy downpour, and there was hardly any shelter to stay dry. To top it off, our buggy ran out of gas on the way back, and we had to wait for a replacement before we could return. ❌ Overall Impression This tour was poorly managed, misrepresented online, and not worth the price. The orientation team did their best, but everything else fell short — from transportation to safety to the authenticity of the experience. If you're staying at the Barcelo Bavaro then the pickup location for this tour is at the main gate which is about 1 mile from the rooms. It is $10 taxi ride from the hotel lobby to the main gate. Barcelo staff are not allowed to take guests to the main gate.

Some guests choose to take a taxi from the lobby to the main gate; we understand this is typically around US$10 and is not charged by Tropical Thrills. The Experience was decent but started off disappointing. Our driver didn't pick us up until an hour later. Once the excursion was over, the staff acted like they didn't want to take us back to our resort. Overall it was decent but nothing to write home about.

I’m not sure if it was because we were black or tourists but the hosts paid little to no attention to us. The energy was very low when doing presentations. My sister lost control of one of the buggies due to the wheel not being aligned and instead of making sure we were okay, the person that guided us laughed and made jokes about it. Also keep in mind, that was the first time he smiled and spoke to us the whole time. The activities themselves were okay but I would recommend trying to go with another company

Too long walk to the beach. Too many people bothering me trying to sell something at every stop. Bus driver was on the phone the whole trip coming and going. 2 stars at best!
