Itinerary
Leave your cruise ship at the port, and make your own way into downtown Oslo to explore by City Sightseeing bus. Show your voucher to the driver and hop aboard at any of the 17 stops around town. How long you stay on board is up to you; hop on and off whenever and wherever you like. Your voucher is valid for 24 hours.
Hop off to see Akershus Fortress, the head-turning medieval castle, surrounded by greenery, or immerse yourself in Norway’s Viking history with a visit to the Viking Ship Museum. Other sights you may want to see include Vigeland Sculpture Park or Christiana Square with its striking architecture.
Stay on board for the full 1.5-hour loop if you wish and sightsee from the comfort of your bus. Read the Itinerary for a list of stops and sights.
This activity is within a 10-minute walk to the Port of Oslo, so you determine the time you return to your ship. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the excursion and ensure you have plenty of time to return to port. This shore excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy.

- Buses run in all weather, so dress accordingly
- You will need to exchange your ticket for your hop-on hop-off ticket with the City Sightseeing staff or bus driver before or upon boarding the bus. Keep the ticket with you at all times
- Please make sure you only board our official branded City Sightseeing buses
- Audio Guide: The audio guide is available via in-seat modules or directly on your own device in several different languages. Please bring your own headset for the best experience. Turn on the location services from your provider, scan the QR code on the seat/ brochure and press play to start. If needed, headsets with jack sticks and adapters for iPhone and Android are available to borrow - please return them for recycling
- Accessibility: We aim to make our tour accessible to all. For guests requiring assistance, we offer storage for collapsible wheelchairs. Subject to space and availability. Please note that a ramp or single step may be needed to board the bus, and several steps are required to access the upper deck. For Revierkaia/ Langkaia passengers meet our staff on the pier and the buses stop around the corner next to the SALT Sauna and Culture Scene.

The audio was not continuous with large gaps of no commentary. The second level plastic curtain was hooked by the trees and kept ripping away from the supports and created issues and was dangerous. We were never told what channel to use and luckily another customer informed us. With the rain, you couldn’t see out the windows (no wiper blades). The salesman was friendly but didn’t feel the trip was worth the money

My wife and I have travelled extensively. We have used The recommendation of Viator for different tours, etc. Based on the Viator website we booked the Hop-on, Hop-off bus in Oslo. The bus was constantly late and unreliable from the schedules listed. Frequently the bus commentary failed to work. The whole experience was a disaster. I would definitely suggest using the alternate Hop-on, Hop-off bus company. I wish I had.

The bus never came, and then they rejected my refund, and literally wrote that they didn’t issue my refund because they didn’t feel like it. Spend your $100+ dollars literally anywhere else. It completely ruined my trip.

It was 30 degree Celsius and no AC in the bus. No mentioned about such when we rode on it. Asked for water because it has stickers indicating they sell water there is none.

Due to the clockwise direction around the city, it takes over an hour to get from the city center area back to the cruise terminals, so isn't as useful as it could be. We ended up walking back to the terminal since it was only 20 minutes. Great if you mainly want to go out the museums, but if you don't, and just want to see the main city, don't bother. Commentary was very limited, too.

The attendance at check in was not cooperative, I promoted her twice before she printed my tickets as she was talking to someone else and I was wandering and looking to other companies. I should mention that I feel I was racially marginalised in this case. She was talking to possibly German white individuals. I belief it might be the case I was non white person which is why she racially sidelined me.
Also the history itself was quite dirty and the air ventilation was not sufficient. The headphone jack ports did not work properly and had to be adjusted a lot for any communication. The bus do not arrive and leave timely from a spot. While they say 20 minutes it’s 30-35 minutes per stop. It might be a cheaper option but not the most convinent one.

Both drivers were terrible! One even hit a huge flower pot. Busses were overcrowded and some people couldn’t even get on at some stops. The map wasn’t accurate. Hours were very short 1000 to 1600. The other hop on hop off company looked much better with longer operating hours.

Easy pick up right at the port. We had limited time as we were visiting Oslo as a port of call on the beautiful Emerald Princess and it was forecast to rain in the afternoon so we wanted to see as much as possible while we had sunshine. Bust stops were convenient and ran about every 30 minutess

We love hop on hop off buses and feel it’s a great way to see lots of sites in a short amount of time. However, the one in Oslo really dropped the ball. I reached out to them first before posting a negative review - and was rejected any sort of refund. I have time stamped times photos - we waited for almost an hour for a bus to pick up… and ended up getting an uber to finish our day. Only rode to one stop. We tried calling (internationally) - messaging and never got through. When we finally did get to a spot to go woo to a person because we booked through Viator we have to communicate with Viator. Disappointing to have now spent the cost of the bus + an uber ($40) + an international call! Attaching a photo time stamped at 11:00am - we had been waiting for a bus for 30 minutes at that point — which they said no one else complained so 🤷🏽♀️ we left at 11:15 and no bus had come. Even with traffic we should have had the opportunity to get on TWO busses!

If I could give this zero stars I would. It was a huge waste of money. Go with the other tour. It was running over a half hour late at the start of the day. There were no announcements as to what stop we were at or what the sights were. The map the provided was useless in finding the stops.

Not impressed. No reliable route information. Drivers were not sure our ticket was valid. Lots of confusion regarding which company we should be riding with. Both HOHO companies use almost identical livery. Not worth the money

We had only one day in Oslo and wanted to see many sites. This was a most convenient way to get around and to spend as much or little time at all the interesting places. Don't miss Vigeland Park!!! FYI our preprinted ticket said hours began at 10 am, but we found buses running earlier than that!

Easy to pick up the bus at the cruise terminal, unlike in Copenhagen, and the bus stopped fairly close to main sights. However it was advertised as air-conditioned and it wasn't, and it was hit, with lots of customers using the maps as fans. It would put me off doing this again in warm weather.

Commentary was very partial - most off the tour it only mentioned stop numbers, which incidentally did not match the stop numbers on the map. Also the commentary was out of sync with the bus position on the route. The tour circuit only lasted 60 minutes but this turned out to be a good thing. I couldn't wait to get back!
