Itinerary
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Napier hotel. Traveling by comfortable minivan, set out to discover Napier’s impressive architecture.
Pass through the historic Ahuriri district, stop to see landmarks such as the National Tobacco Building, and admire the 1930s Art Deco-style homes that line the streets of the Marewa neighborhood. Along the way, hear from your guide how the city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and rebuilt in the modern Art Deco style of the day, and make several stops to take photos.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

We had a wonderful tour with John as our guide. He greeted us with a friendly and warm welcome. We were the only two passengers, so loved that it was a private tour and had John’s full attention. He was extremely knowledgeable and well informed on both past and present events of Napier. He took his time, gave us opportunities to take photos and answered any all questions we may have had. It was a wonderful way to get to know the area and see all the highlights. I highly recommend John as a guide and this tour. Great day in Napier!

Extensive look at the Art Deco component of Napier and the reasons why it is that way. Beautiful buildings, fascinating history. John, our driver/guide was very knowledgeable. We were the only people on the tour, but he still ran it. Thank you. Other companies might have cancelled.

I thought the trip was very worthwhile and informative - we went to some great spots and learnt lots of the history! The view from top of the hill, the gardens and Tobacco Building and art deco housing streets were highlights. The tour is via transport in a van and we had some great stops but meant we could go back to see some sites on foot when the tour had finished. Thanks John for all your knowledge!

We were taken to some magnificent locations overlooking Napier which we would never have found on our own , which helped us to truely understand the history of the town before and after the earthquake
