Phenomenal service from the driver to the tour guide. The tour guide was phenomenal and gave us a wonderful detailed overview of the site. Highly recommend and would do it again

We had an effortless pick up by our lovely driver and our guide Abhijeet at our hotel at approximately 8:30am. Cruised down the Mumbai Costal Highway towards the southern tip. Once we arrived at the Marina adjacent to the Gateway of India Monument and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel we boarded the speedboat with our guide, captain & first mate.
It only took about 20-25 minutes to reach the Elephanta Island. We cruised right past all the big shared boats full of loads of people and arrived at the Island which was eerily quiet. We had pretty much the whole place to ourselves which made the added cost of this option totally worth it. Once on the island we met up with Manoj, a local resident and expert in the caves and amazing carvings they contained. He was kind, personable and a wealth of knowledge. He has lived his whole life on this island which has three small villages.
We saw everything in detail and he took some fantastic photos of us. Once we were descending back towards the pier 6 other larger boats had arrived with throngs of people. We sure lucked out being there before the crowds. Experiencing the caves in immense silence was ideal in my opinion for the best experience.
