Don brought us to backcountry locations not accessible by personal vehicles or general group tours. He told us his personal stories as a Navajo native. He also showed us jaw-dropping photo spots.

I was having second thoughts when I booked the 3.5 hour Monument Valley tour for my out of town family. Once you drive through the iconic landscapes you feel as though you’ve seen it all. But from the minute we met Don, we knew this tour was going to be something special. Right off the bat Don took us to some spots and shared his tips for some amazing photography. But beyond the incredible photography and drive through the backroads we met people who are stewards of this incredible land and came away humbled. Don is not only extremely knowledgeable but has traveled the world connecting his people and cultures. together. His stories and this tour not only imprint on you, but it leaves you enriched with memories of a lifetime.

My sister and I had the immense pleasure of spending the morning with Don Mose on a private tour of the Valley. He is a wonderful storyteller. Using pictographs as an organizing theme, he interwove descriptions of what Monument Valley means to him personally, to his family, and to the Diné people. This sacred land is alive with his ancestors. Over the 3.5 hours we spent with him, he masterfully led us to understand not only about the Diné but also the broader relationships with tribal groups in the area and far beyond. He emphasized our common humanity. All this while driving us to sites in the “backcountry.”
We highly recommend this tour!

If you are interested in the life of an American Indian as well as a tour of Monument Valley, then this tour is for you. Don Mose, your tour guide, has had has had a fascinating life and given of himself to extend his Indian culture to future generations (if they will listen). Have you ever wished you had listened to, and asked questions of, your grandparents while they were still living? Mr. Mose did and took many life lessons to memory. Yes, you will get a great tour of Monument Valley. More importantly, you will learn from a very wiseman about life. I am so glad we signed up for his tour. I could spend months and years learning from this man. If you just want the highlights of Monument Valley, choose another tour. If you are looking for something deeper, more meaningful, sign up for a tour with Don Mose. Explore what it means to be an American Indian and what he has learned in his lifetime. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Don was amazing!!! He shared his childhood experiences with us. He helped us get the best pictures of the monuments and other sites in the valley. He spoke the Navajo language to us and explained what he was saying. Told us how Navajos helped the US win WWII with the Code Talkers!! Explained to us the petroglyphs of the Navajo Indians!! Highly recommend the Private Monument Valley Tour!! You will not regret it!!

We just took the Monument Valley tour with Don, and I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations. This was my second time touring the Valley, and while I expected to see new areas and learn more about Navajo culture, this experience was far more than just sightseeing.
Don has an incredible depth of knowledge about both the monuments and their cultural significance to the Navajo and other Indigenous tribes both past and present. His insights went beyond just the Western films shot in the Valley, making the tour far richer and more meaningful than I had anticipated.
I will absolutely be returning to Monument Valley, and when I do, another tour with Don will be a must.
For Those Interested in the Cultural Aspect
If you are still reading, I’ll share more details for those particularly interested in the cultural depth of this tour.
Before our trip, I had read parts of the Navajo creation story and was eager to hear more specific insights from Don. Reading is one thing, but having an interactive conversation with an expert is a whole new level of learning. I had asked the tour provider if it would be possible to incorporate more cultural and historical information, and Don truly delivered.
As a former educator in Navajo language and culture, Don built up the information gradually, layer by layer, throughout the tour. I walked away having learned far more than I had even hoped for.
My wife, who had not done any reading beforehand, commented that she wished we had recorded the entire tour. In fact, she said it was the highlight of our entire 10-day trip out West. If you want to get even more out of the experience, I highly recommend reading just a little bit beforehand will gain even deeper insights from the tour.
As I mentioned earlier, I will definitely be returning for another tour with Don.

Great tour. Our guide Don taught us a great deal about the Navajo tribe and it's connection to Monument Valley and the world. This the tour to take.

Don Mose was an excellent tour guide and gives your company a good reputation. Don was knowledgable, friendly, and funny---everything you would want in a great tour guide. He never made us feel rushed and we saw and learned interesting and wonderful aspects about Monument Valley and the Dine. I hope that you are compensating him well because he is one of your company's biggest asset.

The guide never showed up. Viator was close to useless over the telephone. As a result our trip to Monument Valley was ruined. I will never use Viator again

Don Mose is a great storyteller. He not only pointed out different rocks along the way but gave his personal insight. We had an amazing experience!

I'm sure this would have been an amazing adventure unfortunately viator didn't coomunicate our reservation to the tour company so we never got to go, we contacted the tour company who did absolutely everything they could to make up for the mishap. So book this tour but book it directly with the company. I've already communicated this with Viator and today I got another request to rate this experience ….even though part of my communication was to notify them the tour never happened,
