If you're thinking about booking this because your children are excited about a pirate adventure, stop. Save your money and book a normal sightseeing cruise instead.
Calling this a “pirate experience” is a rather impressive piece of marketing. The boat looks vaguely pirate-themed, and apparently that's where the pirate experience begins and ends.
No pirates. No pirate entertainment. No pirate atmosphere. No interaction. No fun pirate activities. Nothing.
We spent the trip waiting for the actual pirate experience to start. Spoiler alert: it never did.
The boat itself is old and desperately in need of some care and maintenance. It certainly has an authentic pirate look, although more “pirate ship that's been abandoned for several years” than swashbuckling adventure.
The children were also supposed to receive pirate hats, according to the tour description. No hats. Apparently even the pirates couldn't afford them.
The “2-for-1” Drinks Deal
Then there's the drinks promotion.
The normal price of a drink is $15. We were offered a “2-for-1” deal, which sounds pretty straightforward: buy one for $15 and get a second one free.
Except that's not what happened.
The so-called 2-for-1 deal was actually two drinks for $20. In other words, you're not getting a second drink free at all. You're simply being offered two drinks for a different combined price.
Calling that “2-for-1” is, at best, extremely misleading.
Apparently, on this pirate ship, even the mathematics has been taken hostage.
And Then Comes the “Free Holiday Raffle”
There was also an offer for a “free holiday raffle.”
This sounds great until you discover that the offer is tied to a timeshare sales pitch. What initially sounds like a free holiday opportunity turns into a sales presentation designed to get you interested in purchasing a timeshare.
So another “free” offer that comes with a fairly large asterisk attached.
If you're expecting a fun family pirate adventure, the last thing you probably expect is to spend your time being exposed to sales promotions.
What You Actually Get
The sightseeing itself is perfectly fine. Miami looks great from the water, and most of the staff were polite and pleasant.
But here's the problem:
This isn't really a pirate tour. It's a sightseeing tour wearing a pirate costume.
If the advertisement simply said “Miami sightseeing cruise on a pirate-style boat,” I wouldn't have much to complain about.
But when you sell it as a pirate adventure, families reasonably expect their children to actually experience something pirate-themed.
Instead:
No pirates.
No treasure hunt.
No pirate games.
No pirate entertainment.
No pirate atmosphere.
No children's hats.
Just Miami.
And apparently a drinks promotion and a timeshare sales pitch thrown in for good measure.
If you want a sightseeing cruise, book a sightseeing cruise.
If you want a pirate adventure for your children, look elsewhere.
The most adventurous part of this experience was apparently trying to find the pirates.
One star. And that's being generous.

Arrived in plenty of time due to recovering from broken ankle, no clear direction rude staff. Left late and arrived back early. Boat didn’t look like it had enough spaces as we were all crammed like sardines. As for the hot dog drink and chips I am still waiting for them as they didn’t arrive.
Wish I had paid extra and went for another cruise around the islands as I felt that some of the music was in bad taste

The instructions tell you to meet at the Hard Rock Cafe / Landshark bar. My father, who has a bad back, walked all the way to the end of the pier because we were following the instructions on the ticket. When we got there, we were told turn around and go back to pier 5. No one was there to assist in any fashion, and we were told to wait under the blue umbrella and be there 20 minutes early or lose our spot. There was no point in being there 20 minutes early since they didn't show up until 5:30 and we didn't leave until 5:40. When we finally got on, it was basically a sightseeing tour of mansions. Other than being on the ship, nothing about it was pirate themed, and oddly, they gave pirate hats to pretty much every adult and not my child, which was odd. Lastly, we went to buy drinks, and the woman literally told me to stop talking while she answered a personal call and then eventually took my order about 4 minutes later. They had the nerve to ask for tips also. It wasn't bad, but it was certainly nothing like advertised.

Some nice views and well-narrated by the operator. Music made it upbeat. The boat itself could use some updating, and the drinks were expensive. Not much of a pirate theme, but unless you have small kids, not a big deal. Entering into a prize drawing to receive a timeshare presentation was a little off-putting.

Booked the pirate ship for 7:30, show and am told 2 different stories by 2 different workers why it’s not running and will have to do the regular boat at 8 pm.

Trip was good but you advertised a Pirat boat trip which we also booked and the we get a normal boat. This is not in order and give the impression of missleading customer to get a insides advantage. I have a problem with this kind of false advertising!

Before departure, guests are informed that the pirate ship is not always available due to operational reasons such as maintenance, and in such cases an alternative vessel is used to ensure the Miami Boat Tour and Miami Sightseeing Cruise can still operate safely and on schedule, including the Skyline Cruise and Celebrity Homes route.

The tour never took place. They said they didn't get enough people so they pushed the tour back 2 hours which I couldn't make it.

Our Miami boat tour through Biscayne Bay operates on a scheduled basis, and in the event of any adjustments, departure times may be slightly modified—typically up to 20 minutes due to logistical reasons, weather conditions, or operational scheduling.
In certain cases, schedule changes may extend up to a maximum of 1 hour and 30 minutes. When this occurs, guests are always notified in advance, either via email and/or phone call, so they can plan accordingly.
As one of the most popular things to do in Miami, we aim to maintain consistent departures so guests can fully enjoy the Miami skyline and celebrity homes experience.

The whole experience was bad. When we got to the “meeting point” it was not clearly labeled as there was no red umbrella as stated in the email. We asked the man at the podium who was very rude when telling us to “go down there” to get in the line. We tried 3 times to get clarification that line was for the pirate ship as NO KNE else in the line was taking that tour. Finally someone showed up to scan our voucher and simply told us to go fine there pointing right. We got to a boat that looked NOTHING like a pirate ship. When we asked about the pirate ship boat we were told it’s broken so we were moved to this boat. Our tickets were supposed to come with lunch, but no one ever offered us food. We could barely understand our tour guide, so honestly no clue whose homes we saw. At the end of the tour they came around to each person asking for tips. When we informed them we weren’t tipping since we didn’t even get the tour we paid for or our lunch they got angry. One woman asked to see our ticket and when showed to her she took off with our phone back to the bar area and at that point pulled out a crockpot to start cooking our hotdogs. The tour was over at that point! We were the only ones left on the boat. The entire experience was bad and every worker we encountered treated us like we were dumb and were very rude to us. Not worth our $280. We were never given any option to change our tour or get a refund. Hell we were on the boat before we were even told we weren’t going to ride the boat we paid for.
It was a seamless and engaging process and experience. My needs were catered for in advance. And the price is fair, no complains.
Fun way to take a leisure boat tour with music that went along with the mansions . Shade and sun seats available.

It was ok.. and a stark reminder of you get what you pay for .. so technically, I should give it 5 star but a 3 star is an average for an average expereince.
things that went well..
1. Miami harbour is beautiful and this ship provided me the means to see it
2. No drama on the cruise. We got back safe
What didnt work, in order of its importance to me

1. It's a Pirate Ship but so I guess its ok to have old fittings and look old but this ship was in dire need of maintenance.
2. Seats were not comfortable.
3. Toilets were not clean.
4. We left early. We arrived early. Lol..

The tour guide could speak better and clearer english. Not recomended.
Well it wasn’t a pirate ship when we arrived, which we booked ahead and paid for. And the “open bar” was really only a few premixed drinks that we were allowed to choose from. The bathroom on the boat was atrocious. Unbelievably disgusting.
We had paid to go on a pirate ship tour around Miami. We were told we had to go onto another ship which was not the pirate ship. I couldn’t understand the host that was speaking that was explaining the homes and their stories. Either the sound system or she was unclear. I would say that the trip was just okay. If you want to see the homes of the rich and famous, it’s an okay trip.

This is a must see tour in the water you get to see amazing houses that belongs to celebrities also, the vibes on the boat were amazing. Also, they played great music. It’s a mustsee tour. I enjoyed my experience. This is a tour that’s for all ages.

What a lovely boat ride- staff were all amazing. Boat was adorable. The tour guide spoke in English and Spanish and was very entertaining and informative. I loved seeing the houses up close! Absolute best thing to do while in Miami! Highly recommend!!!!!!

Good experience to the price. If you wait till the last minute, they give a sales price for the remaining seats before boarding.
Great way to see the Miami Skyline and see who lives where! Enthusiastic guide, great fun, good music and well tied in to whose home you were viewing.
A delightful, open air, sunset excursion that showed the beauty of Miami and so many fun mansions and movie locations. See Miami and all of its islands at night. It is a beautiful site to behold. If you like a fun, calming Family boat event this is for you. It’s fun to do solo as well. The crew are great, the music is great and the seating is comfortable.

Fun times, enjoyed the atmosphere! Beautiful mansions. Only slight “turn off” in my opinion was upon entering the ship, one of the employees was handing out a little slip of paper for adults to fill out for “raffle” and seemed routine/mandatory. Turns out my husband was 1 of 3 people whose name was called as a raffle “winner.” We weren’t expecting a raffle and at 1st were excited that he was a lucky one that would receive a “prize”. Turns out the “prize” was an opportunity to participate in a time share program: go to a meeting during your stay in miami, so on & so forth, if you know how time shares work. I’m sure many people participate in and enjoy time share programs, but we have no interest in such. Since it’s being described as a “prize” we would’ve honestly been much more excited w/ a magnet, a t-shirt, a drink or appetizer voucher from one of the establishments surrounding the dock, etc, just something that has no-strings attached or a “catch”. Or no raffle/prize at all would have been fine too, and maybe just offer all patrons exiting the ship an opportunity to inquire about the time share program if interested. I understand promoting your business…..was just turned off by presenting it as a raffle/prize type of scenario. But the woman was was sweet when we politely declined.

So just a heads up...there is NO PIRATE BOAT...they are advertising as a Pirate Boat but once you get there it will be a bigger boat..This can be good thing or a bad thing..if your kids are expecting a Pirate Boat...just know that you will see one docked..but it doesnt look like the engines even work on that one. It is a little scamy...cause you will just tell you "The Pirate boat is not working today."...how about...."The Pirate Boat is just a ruse and doesnt work at all." Once you reach Biscayne Bay main area..you need to look for the Blue and White umbrella near the "Hard Rock" Cafe..this podium will be located upstairs next to a restaurant sitting area and across from the "Hard Rock Cafe"...You will be boarding the boat downstairs across from a big decorative Arm Chair that people use for taking photos. I am letting you all know this because the guy at the entrance of Biscayne Bay was not good at providing directions. (A) Please go to the podium first so they can scan your bar code and print you a boarding pass. (B) They will take your picture before they board you...no you cannot say no....they do this so they can sell the pictures to interested parties at the end of the tour. (C) As annoying as it is...get there early...atleast 40 minutes to go stand in the que downstairs at the boarding dock...if you dont do this..the line will only get longer and you wont get good seats...Then you may be stuck inside the board and not on the roof which is the good spot...and last minute people will wanna squeeze in with you -- which can be really annoying. There are drinks available for purchase..but I dont drink..so I dont know what they are like....Sit in the middle of the roof seating area because the speakers are obnoxiously loud with music. The tour itself was fine..the boat moves at an ok pace and they show you all the celebrity houses from a distance -- I beleive there are restrictions on how close they can get..but I will et you know that this is the same tour all the boats take..so you are not missing anything. I didnt any other tour boat go any further than our boat..so I am guessing they have restrictions on where they can go. So you wont get anything extra special if you pick a different tour. It was an ok tour..it was 40mins to an hour I would say. The only annoying thing I found about this boat is that the seats should be facing in one direction instead of aliigning the sides of the boat because you have to turn around and look at the house and stuff..and someone's crotch will be in your face when they permit people to stand up and take pictures..and that's just annoying. Second annoying thing is that their music is too loud..you are already tired from standing around the dock to wait for a good seat on the boat and then you have loud music. Another annoying thing was that they will make you guess the celebrity who owns the house as you are doing the tour..but they are trying to manage so many things on the boat..that by the time you are already past the celebrity house..that's when you will know who the house belongs to..Just tell us straight up who the house belongs to and be done with it so we can take our pictures. I did not come on the boat to play jepordy..I just came to enjoy and stare like a creep inside celebrity houses...Otherwise this is a good tour and Staff is nice..Look out for the European tourists..cause they have no concept of personal space and ques..and will try to cut you off..Everything else was fine. I would recommend this tour for first time tourists.
It was difficult to understand the guide and the tour left after 8pm, there was not much sunset to see. The website posted 7:30pm departure. It was extremely difficult to find the check in place.

The seating is Horrible! The benches are very loosely. The smell from the engine was be inhaled while riding.

I booked the pirate boat but it wasn't the pirate boat. It was a regular boat. The people were nice.
