Grutas de Tolantongo is absolutely stunning — one of the most beautiful and fun natural spots I've visited near Mexico City. The thermal pools, caves, river, and overall oasis setting are breathtaking and super relaxing. It's a perfect day trip escape from CDMX, with warm waters and incredible scenery that make it worth the drive. However, there were a couple of disappointments with the tour organization. The listing advertised an English-speaking guide, but that wasn't the case. Our guide was very professional, friendly, and helpful — no complaints about his attitude or knowledge — but he only spoke Spanish. If you're not comfortable with Spanish, this could make it harder to follow explanations or ask questions. Also, the pickup was frustrating. The designated pickup location was a hotel, but the driver didn't see me because I was in the lobby (it was too cold to wait outside). I had to call several times, and they finally picked me up about one hour late. This delayed the start of the day and felt disorganized.

    Really good!

It is an amazing place. Water is really warm, prices are good. Everything was good. I recommend the Zip Line

This is a taxi service not a tour

    Hannah_B, Nov 2025
This is a taxi service not a tour, and the driver did not speak English (we booked English). I'm not trying to be rude, but he also had bad body odor, and it was an 8-hour round trip drive. We were also pretty upset that he told our group to be dressed and ready by 2pm and according to the other group he told them 3pm, meaning we had to sit around and wait for an hour while he napped in the car and the other group enjoyed another hour of the hot springs. This is our second tour with this company and we would not recommend them (the last tour the guide was absolutely plastered(drunk) the entire time and we're sober. Tolantongo itself is beautiful and amazing however, would book with a different company.

    Interesting place to visit

    Griselda_S, Nov 2025
Enjoyed being in hot springs pools. Disappointed that the caves and river was closed. I was informed best time to visit this place is in February and March during the weekday. Vehicle we rode in needs shocks and the ride felt very bumpy and squeaky all the way there and back to our drop off destination. The tour company should keep up with the maintenance of their vehicles.

    Good trip

The excellent tour. The driver Don Fernando very friendly and cordial. Time is up. About the place, beautiful. Relaxing pools and spectacular views. The cave a wonder. Traveler recommendations NOT agency responsibility. 1. Beware of the rainy season by the river in this case we could not access because of the rains dirty it was not celestial, something merely nature. 2. Nearly coming the road is many turns can dizzy.
