Chichen Itza is a most visit when in the Yucatán peninsula. Be aware that this site is so busy with tourists and vendors that it is hard to enjoy the site, but they need to earn a living. The lunch should be after the plunge in the cenote that was unbelievable almost magic. Avoid drinking the water or you will experience a monumental purge. The water is rich in minerals, non contaminated, and that richness may induce a good purge. I respect the guide’s opinion but we did not feel the Magic of Izamal, the yellow city. A nice stop at the La Michoacana in Izamal for a fresh fruit helado is highly recommended.

Absolutely mammoth day with so much packed in, more than I expected so was brilliant. Our guide Rosando went above and beyond in explaining the history behind all we saw and patiently answered all questions. Having free time to explore at each stop was an added benefit. Note, I didn’t end up travelling via train for the first part as I was the only one booked so instead joined the rest of the tour via car in Merida.
