Here’s the updated version: The tour was great. We enjoyed the farm and the entire experience. We tried different types of coffee and went through the coffee-making process. Our tour guide, Henry, was amazing. There were also animals on the farm, and the kids were very excited to interact with them. I highly recommend this tour for families with kids of any age.

My guide for the day was Mario, scheduled with a 1:30pm pickup. Mario was on time to pick me up and arrived at 1:30pm. Throughout the day, Mario was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He not only has a deep knowledge of Medellin and coffee, but having spend considerable time overseas, his English is excellent. The tour of the farm itself was superb. An interactive experience in a family operated environment. I would highly recommend this tour and Mario to others.

Hi Nestor, we’re sorry that your experience wasn’t what you were expecting due the mosquitoes of the farm, but as we mention in the description, you’re visiting a real coffee farm with a real family of coffee farmers and you’ll be a farmer for a while, to learn everything from coffee, it’s imposible not to have mosquitoes in a mountain full of coffee, that’s why we recommend you to wear pants and long sleeves during the tour and we offered you bug spray, also boots for walking safer the mountain while you collect coffee.

Never look at coffee the same

If you're a coffee person and want an authentic experience and chance to see how your coffee god is made, you will love this tour. Our guide Oscar was fantastic and knowledgeable. The height of the tour is picking the coffee beans yourself. I hold the current tourist record so good luck trying to break it 😝

    Amazing coffee tour!

    Unforgettable experience

Our guide Oscar was the best! He picked us up at the hotel in El Poblado and took us on a short, 20 minute ride to a family farm. They were warm and welcoming. Oscar taught us all about coffee production and we planted some, tasting the seed inside the bright red berries. Then, we suited up (the provided boots and a cute costume (shawl and hat) with a bucket and up the mountain we went! We had a chance to pick the ripe berries as Oscar continued to explain more of the process. We learned some of the factors involved in the flavor of coffee: boiling point, altitude, method of fermentation, roasting and drying. And we got a chance to see some of the machines in action. Our pickings went in, soon to become some of the next batch. You can buy pound and half pound bags, ground and whole bean (cash only). We sampled the different styles of brewing (fascinating!) and even had a tea made from coffee husks, because nothing is wasted in the process. It was a great day and we felt tremendously enriched by this unforgettable experience!! Thanks to Oscar!! Tip: bring bug spray.
