If mobility is an issue for you (as it is for us) then using the Tuk-tuk to get you around a very hilly Matera is such a relief. Not sure that the price for just around an hour was warranted. That said - we saw the main highlights of Matera in a morning. Job done. Would I recommend this to a friend? Depends on their mobility.

This is a very basic tour. The guide was very nice but you listen to a short recording at a few stops and 50 minutes later, you are done. It gave a very small taste of Matera. If time and budget allow go for a longer tour with an in person guide (not a recording)

This is by far the best way to see Matera. Our guide, even with limited English, was incredibly helpful and friendly and showed us everything we wanted to see and more. Plenty of time for photographs and getting out and seeing incredible views. This is a great thing for somebody with a mobility issues, and the central Meetup location was easily accessible by taxi.

I wish we had know that the tour was pre-recorded. The info was nice, but we were not able to ask questions. Driver was very nice, but I guess was not fluent in English. Having been asked what language we wanted, I expected a guide that was fluent.

Infatti nella descrizione del nostro servizio è riportato chiaramente che durante il Tour ci sarà un audio guida ( pre-recorder ) ripeto audio guida ( pre-recorder) , nella lingua scelta, inglese, francese o spagnolo, questo perché evidentemente Non c'è una guida che parla le diverse lingue, altrimenti Non ci sarebbe stato bisogno di un'audio guida ( pre-recorder).

Great time fast and easy fun with kids , would have liked more details on areas we looked at. We got a pre record history and couldn't hear much and was turned on after we looked at the building.

The tuk tuk was our saving grace on a very hot day. We were able to quickly get many viewpoints of the landmarks and significant history. Our guide was so nice, gave all the history, took us to good photo ops, and offered to take our picture. Lovely tour.

Matera is very hilly and walking to all the heights to see everything would have been very difficult for me. Cars aren’t allowed in the old city areas so a tuk tuk tour is the only way to get there except by walking. I was very grateful to have the tuk tuk tour!
Our guide was nice, let us stop and take pictures at various spots and was patient when we wanted to stop and go in a church.

The tour was ok. Riding in the tuk-tuk saves your legs & feet from walking up & down the hilly stone streets, especially if it’s hot or raining. Ladies, it can be rough in sandals. Our guide was Antonio, he was nice. The tour basically drives you to photo spots. He adds zero commentary. He plays an audio on a portable speaker. You go into a cave museum & visit a church (not the rock one). The Tuk-tuk is not permitted on most of the streets of Matera, so about half of the tour is navigating through the modern part of town through traffic. Pros: you are driven to photo spots. You save time not having to walk to everything. Cons: you end up walking through town back to the rock church anyway.

The tour operator texted me the day before our scheduled tour as heavy rain was forecasted for that time. He offered to reschedule the tour for the next day. He was waiting for us at the designated spot and the tour began. There was an audio speaker in the back of the vehicle which gave the tour highlights in English. It was hard to hear and it was unclear which attraction it was referring to. We kept rolling along and did not know where to look. We did make stops at a few scenic overlooks. He took us to Casa grottta Narrante which was a cave dwelling and we seemed to get preferential treatment as his grandfather had once lived there. Our friends spoke some Italian so he mainly communicated with them in Italian. Not sure how well he speaks English. Overall, I’m glad we did the tour but you can do and go all the places on your own. The town is very walkable even with its steep hills.

We had a very interesting tour with our guide on 22 April at noon who took the time to provide many interesting details of Matera's history and culture in English . We showed interest in a film which action took place in Matera and our guide took us to the most famous locations of these series which was a nice gesture.
We enjoyed our tour very much and highly recommend it.
