Super fun way to see Matera and get some history. We had done a walking tour earlier in day and I was afraid it was going to be same thing. It was not. It built on the other tour. This tour stopped at a recreated cave house and the miniature museum as well as great viewpoints and church of St. Peter. It rained on our evening tour but it was still fun.

I planned our vacation to Matera before I knew about my knee surgery. Needless to say, Matera has very challenging terrain with countless steps and slippery hills. I opted for the longer Apetour (tuk-tuk). Francesco was amazing. He took us to the city’s highlights and gave us the opportunity to visit this wonderful city that I would not have been able to enjoy. He was both a pleasure to be with and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him to any person visiting Matera!

Francesco our driver was fantastic. Very personable and informative. He took us all around Matera on a fabulous tour. It’s was brilliant. Gave us a much better understanding of the history of the area and the challenges the people faced, plus the darker recent side of the town after it was abandoned, and prior to it becoming a UNESCO site.

Amazing tour would highly recommend! An easy and fun way to travel round the sassi. Antonio our driver was a local so was very knowledgable, very kind and his English was great. Learnt a lot about the history of Matera, how people lived there and how it has progressed over time.

Perfect way to get an overview of Matera. Our tour guide was very informative regarding the history of the city as well as current facts. Francesco also provided information on local dining within easy walking distance from the tour headquarters but still in the old town. Would recommend the APEPPECAR to start your day in Matera.

Our guide spoke English which we appreciated. He took us around the highlights of Sassi and we had a couple of stops. He was willing to stop so we could take more photos. Very nice experience. Learned about the history.

This is a great tour to do. We had an awesome guide. With him we were able to gain such a better understanding of how life was, as recently as the 1960’s.
The tuk tuk is able to zip around through the narrow streets. We enjoyed it so much that we booked another one that afternoon to see some of the caves outside the town.

This tour was incredible. Antonio, our guide gave us so much information about the old Matura and how it is today. His grandparents actually had been living in the old Matera so his information was very genuine. I think this tour is a must if you want to get the most out of this amazing city

Francesco was a passionate Materan with a wealth of historical and local information- and so much fun! We stopped at a couple of pre-arranged (and free) tourist sites that gave an excellent overview of Matera’s long history. Highly recommended for an excellent overview of the wealth of Matera’s sights.
