Really good experience! I dragged my family along but they enjoyed it too !! Result👌. A bit of faffing at parts but spectacular and so worth it. Really amazing views and not difficult in terms of physical ability. My 11 year old and 13 year old loved it our guide Pedro was so good at filling us in on nature and history and I watched him handle nervous travellers very kindly. It always helps being referred to as the “beautiful” people! The guide makes all the difference. Thanks Pedro!
This is an amazing trip. 38 degrees and I didn’t melt thanks to a lovely breeze. Do it!!
Response from Host, Aug 2025

Great tour, you board a bus at a hotel and then walk with stops. We did the 15:30 tour which gives natural shade from the sun, which is nice. Beautiful national park. Guide was great and kept it light and fun.
Response from Host, Aug 2025

I blame Joe Lycett & David o'Doherty for showing me this on the UK Channel 4 programme Travelman. Of course we left it too late to book so the guided tour of Viador was our best option and we weren’t disappointed. Our guide (Alberto) was brilliant and very knowledgeable. We had the 14:30 slot and arrived about 14:10. We signed in at the hotel and then at 14:20 got on the bus to the start. 15 mins later we were on the move…hiking to the start (1.5k away) on a flat walk. Got to the start, got given helmets and then we were off. Steady pace to take in all the beautiful views and history. At the end of the trek you continued for another 1.5k to get to the hotel again (where we parked). All so smooth and around 7km-7.5km in total. Very worth it. Easy trek that any reasonably fit person can do. What you waiting for, get booking!!!

Thank you so much for this fantastic review!
We’re thrilled that you discovered us through Travel Man — thank you, Joe Lycett and David O'Doherty! We’re so happy you enjoyed the experience, and that Alberto helped make it memorable with his knowledge and guidance.
The detailed breakdown you shared will surely help other travellers — and we couldn’t agree more: it’s a smooth, beautiful route that’s accessible and totally worth it. We hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon! Visitanddo

This was the best experience, I wasn’t expecting all the stairs which was hard for me but if it wasn’t for the guide, I wouldn’t of made it, he gave me water, ice packs and candy. He checked on me all the way to the end. I think his name was Pablo. He was wonderful

Great experience in an incredible landscape, made extra memorable by a charismatic and funny guide. Our guide walked us through the history of the place, making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. When we visited the weather was abnormally wet which heavy rain and wind. Our guide made this part of the experience and changed where he normally stopped to more sheltered areas. It gave a great context to the extreme conditions the workers who made the original trail had to face. Plenty of opportunities to ask questions and stop for photos.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thank you, Joseph, for such a heartfelt review! 🌟 We’re so happy to hear your Caminito del Rey adventure was both unforgettable and beautiful, even under those wild weather conditions! 🌧️💨
Our guide will be thrilled to know his energy and adaptability helped turn a rainy day into something truly special. The way he reshaped the tour to keep everyone safe and comfortable while still sharing the fascinating history is exactly what we strive for 🙌✨
It's great that you felt welcomed to ask questions and pause for photos, those moments make all the difference! We’d love to have you join us again for another exciting journey (hopefully with a bit more sun next time!) 😄📸

Beautiful walk along the Caminito led by our guide after picking our tickets up from the Garganta Hotel in El Chorro. An easy walk of around 5 miles which is mainly flat or downhill with very little steps up until you get near to the end. My wife has asthma and managed it no problem. After collecting your hard hat at the start the actual walk took just over 2 hours to reach the end. We then handed in our helmets and walked back to the hotel to get our car. Our start time was supposed to be 15:30 however it was almost 16:00 before we boarded the bus to take us to a point (20 mins) where we then walked another 20 mins to the start point with toilets and vending machines. Once there we waited another 20 mins before starting the actual walk. Our guide did tell us back at tbe hotel that the total time needed to complete the walk was 4 hours which turned out to be true however this was due to a lot of extra time getting the group together, giving a briefing, time for the group to use the toilet and buy more water / snacks, walking back to the hotel from the end of the walk (20 mins) This was a very enjoyable experience however beware of the extra time needed if you have any time constraints or public transport arrangements. I would have given a 5 star rating if we could have started on time and reduced the hanging around sections of this experience.
Response from Host, May 2025
It sounds like you had a wonderful and exciting walk along the Caminito del Rey, and it's great to know that your wife with asthma managed it well! The description of the 5-mile, mostly flat or downhill walk is very helpful.
Your detailed breakdown of the timeline, however, is really important for others to note. The delay in the start time and the extra time spent on bus transfers, walking to the starting point, waiting, and the briefing significantly increased the total time needed to around 4 hours, as your guide mentioned. This is crucial information for anyone with time constraints or public transport arrangements.
It's understandable that the delays and waiting around impacted your rating, as starting on time and minimizing those sections would definitely enhance the overall experience. Thanks for sharing such a thorough and balanced review, highlighting both the beauty of the walk and the practicalities of the time commitment.

A bit hectic at first parking and figuring out groups etc. but they were well organized. (You have more time than you think to get there....my time was for 3:30 and we did not leave until after 4:00)

It is exciting and beautiful. I practiced walking five miles a few months ahead, and at 73 had no problems. Our guide Stefano knew the plants, geology, and history and it made the trip more wonderful than walking it on our own. It poured rain the first half, but it did not hinder our walk. Loved this walk all the more because of Stefano!
Response from Host, Mar 2025

The Caminito del Rey walk was an unforgettable experience.
Our guide Pedro was knowledgeable, funny and very helpful.
A bus trip was arranged for us from La Garganta Hotel that took us to the beginning of the walk. Safety helmets were supplied. The weather was perfect, not too cold and not too hot, we experienced a bit of rain but the path was safe. The walk is not too difficult. We would love to go back again next time we visit Malaga.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
That sounds like a truly wonderful and unforgettable experience! Thank you for sharing your review of the Caminito del Rey tour from El Chorro.
We're thrilled to hear that Pedro, your guide, was knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. It's fantastic when a guide can enhance the experience with their personality and expertise. We're also glad that the transportation from La Garganta Hotel was well-arranged and that safety helmets were provided.

Brian_B, Jan 2025
There is too much waiting around. 90 mins from arrival time to move to start walk. Pace is very slow and the 1.5 km walk either side should be communicated clearly. It's deceptive to represent the whole trip length without the breakdown. Google maps defaults to a very slow approach for people who don't know better
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Dear Brian,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent Caminito del Rey experience. We appreciate your honesty and want to address your concerns.
You're right, there can sometimes be waiting periods, especially during peak season. This can be due to factors like safety checks, group sizes, and ensuring everyone is prepared for the walk. We are always looking for ways to improve the flow and minimize waiting times.
Regarding the pace and the 1.5km walk on either side, we understand your point. The Caminito del Rey itself is a relatively short distance, but the total walking distance, including the approaches, is longer. We will review our descriptions to ensure they more clearly communicate the overall distance and the pace of the walk.
We also acknowledge your point about Google Maps. We will investigate ways to provide more accurate and helpful directions to our customers.
We hope that despite these minor inconveniences, you were able to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the unique experience of walking along the Caminito del Rey.
We value your feedback and will use it to improve future experiences for all our guests.
Sincerely,
