We had the most fantastic afternoon on the wine tour with François. We visited two vineyards and the hospitality from the winemakers was excellent. François was so knowledgable and engaging. We came away knowing so much about the Beaujolais and got to taste plenty of fantastic wine!!! A fabulous day and we would definitely do another when we are in the area again. Thank you François!

My friend and I had an amazing time on the Beaujolais wine tour from Lyon. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The drive through the countryside was beautiful, with rolling vineyards and charming villages that really set the mood for the day. We visited two wineries, and both stops felt genuinely special in their own way. Each winery had its own character and atmosphere, and we loved learning about their different approaches to wine-making. The tastings were generous, the wines were delicious, and it was really interesting to compare the styles and hear the stories behind them. A big part of what made the experience so memorable was our host. He was extremely friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. He shared so much great information about the region and the wines, but always in a relaxed and enjoyable way. It never felt rushed — just fun, engaging, and easygoing.

Beautiful area of France

Great experience, very knowledgeable guide. Transportation was modern and on time. Both wineries were of high quality family owned businesses. Very friendly and engaging.

Romaine was friendly and knowledgeable. You could tell he enjoyed sharing his expertise about the region and the wines. The 2 wineries we visited made you feel at home and the wine was wonderful for a fair price. I wish I had more room in my suitcase to take home these wines!

Romain did a great job telling us about the wines and how they are made. First winery was small, but incredible. We tried 7 wines in a tasting format, conducted by the owner. He gave some extra pours on the ones you liked too…. Second winery not impressed,, but still worth the stop. Thank you

We loved this tour! Our guide AD was smart and knew so much about wine, and the vineyards we visited were both wonderful. We learned a lot about the winemaking process and enjoyed some delicious wine as well!

Great tour!

Awesome tour. It was shorter than expected. We didn’t really see how wine is produced. We were lead to a vineyard saw some vines with baby grapes then lead to the tasting room. That was winery no. 1. The wines were very good. I’m not much of a white wine person but the Beaujolais wines were delectable. Our guide Romain was very knowledgeable and passionate about wines. He made our drive entertaining. The second winery was pretty small. Again we didn’t tour rooms or was shown any vats or barrels. We were lead to a tasting room. The heat and humidity was too much so going into a cellar was good enough for me. Overall both wineries provided excellent wines and shared so much about this region. Only drawback is they do not ship their wines to the US. We don’t check in luggage so we couldn’t buy any. : (

We really enjoyed the ride through the Beaujolais region. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the region. We really appreciated the white and red wines in both vineyards. It was our 1st time trying wines from the Gammay varietal.

Great half day tour

Jeff_L, Jun 2025
Tour was great. The tour was exactly what we were looking for. Two wineries with a personalized tasting and additional descriptions of the individual wineries and the area.

Fun trip with a great group from around the world. François and the owners of the wine making place told us lots about wine, wine making and the wine region itself. The wines tasted were delicious. Nice tour. I'd go again.

Fun and educational

Anna_F, May 2025
Fun experience. Romain was fun and very knowledgeable. We were happy to have someone who was so passionate about wine. Both wineries were excellent and a dog at each winery greeted us which was almost the best part of the day. The wines and people were amazing too!

Meeting location was clear and easy. Tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved that it was a small group. Visited two wineries. I believe the Viator itinerary indicates 3. Both wineries were friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time. The wines were excellent.

A pleasant way to enjoy Beaujolais in the company of others

Alain_D, Apr 2025
Our guide Francois was charming and accommodating. We visited 2 family owned and operated wineries and learned a lot about Beaujolais. The best part however is enjoying the company of other wine enthusiasts from Sweden, USA, Singapore.

Excellent overview of the Beaujolais wine region! Stunning scenery, friendly hosts, and of course delicious wine! Mathilde was an excellent guide throughout the experience — very knowledgeable and kind. We loved this experience!

Fond-Vieille & Mascot Made This Tour Unforgettable

Richard_P, Apr 2025
We had a fantastic half-day Beaujolais wine tour with Rhône Trip, led by the knowledgeable and friendly François. Our group—four Canadians, a young Texan traveler, and François’s apprentice—made for a fun, laid-back atmosphere that perfectly suited the experience. Our first stop was Domaine de Fond-Vieille, the standout of the tour. Dominique Guillard welcomed us with a walk through his vineyards (where we were greeted by the winery dog, Mascot!), followed by a behind-the-scenes look at his production facilities, including traditional concrete aging tanks. The tasting was extensive and accompanied by a wonderful spread of local cheeses, cured meats, and fresh bread, which made the experience even more memorable. The wines—especially the Beaujolais Blanc, Vieilles Vignes, and Cuvée Alexandre—were excellent. We left with half a case and would have taken more if we could carry it! Our second visit was to Domaine des Prévelières, run by brothers Quentin and Gaëtan Morel. Their wines had a lighter, fruit-forward style—particularly the Beaujolais Blanc Pierres Dorées—and their passion for winemaking really came through. This tour is an ideal introduction to the Pierres Dorées area and its independent producers. Rhône Trip offers an authentic, intimate wine experience with real character. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the region from Lyon!

Very knowledgeable guide with a good sense of humor. He made me appreciate Beaujolais! Great folks at the wineries, too

Merci Eddy!

Kathleen_T, Nov 2024
The wine tour was fantastic! Very easy meeting Point. Just make sure to get there 15 minutes early. Eddie was absolutely wonderful as were the representatives at the wineries. Pours were generous, and there were only five of us on the tour so it was very small. Highly recommend! So glad we did it. Not to mention the wine was fantastic. So grateful not to have to drive!

Nice little escape from the city

Allan_A, Nov 2024
It’s a great half day trip in the countryside. Enjoyed the views, the explanations of the wine region and the people we met at the wineries were very friendly. Thankfully the weather provided an even better experience with some sunshine even on a colder month.

Worth scheduling when in Lyon

Patrick_W, Sep 2024
Great tour with Eddy! Beautiful wine region. Two wineries that were vastly different. One completely organic. Multiple tastes at each winery and cheese and salamis at the second

Excellent experience

Marika_W, Aug 2024
This was an excellent experience. Our driver and guide was lovely and the wineries were just a short drive out of Lyon. The tastings were fabulous, as were the cheese and meat pairings. Thoroughly recommended.

An in-depth look at wine tasting.

Aaron_K, Aug 2024
This wine tasting tour was absolutely exceptional, and the countryside was gorgeous! We met members of two, family-owned wineries who were so delightful. Our guide, Eddy, was extremely knowledgeable about wine, and he gave us more education than we could have imagined about the grapes, the fermentation process, and how to read a wine from A to Z. Between the two wineries, we must have tasted about 10 wines which really gave us a great overview of the different types of wine. This trip is definitely worth your time and money!

Great afternoon excursion

Claudette_M, Aug 2024
Booked this quite last minute (the morning of). Great trip from start to end. Pick up and drop off from a convenient location. We ride in a comfortable van, the guide (Raphanelle) is lovely, friendly, knowledgeable, speaks well. We visited two small wineries, trying 4-5 wines at each. Every wine was quite lovely. We bought some to take home with us, but there was 0 pressure or expectation. The first winery also provided a lovely snack.

Great wine tour, fabulous guide

JACQUELINE_K, Aug 2024
This was a wonderful 4 hour tour into the Beaujolais wine region near Lyon with only 8 people in a mini van. Our guide, Raphaelle, was informative and fun. She gave us lots of information about the villages we drove through and the 2 vineyards we visited. The tastings at both wineries were very generous and the producer delicious. Would highly recommend this tour.
