It was a nice tour with the 2 stops. Our guide was a good communicator. I think overpriced for 2 stops, no lunch, and not a lot of history, cultural information in the drive to and from. But very nice. Beautiful views.

Nice tour in norhtern Rohne

Two good visits att 2 nice wineyard in norhern Rohne. Very good guide and very good tastings. On the bad side: We did not understand that lunch not was part of the price until we met our guide. The lunch also took a very long time. That led to the tour was almost 8 hours instead of 6-7 hours.

Too long of a day for very little wine

Wine was ok at best and the tour is all day. crazy to hit only two wineries in an all day tour. first place we went to was a tasting room which had decent wine, but wasn't the vibe we went on the tour for - we expected to be on a vineyard. The next place we went had an incredible view at the top of this hills in the vineyards where we enjoyed some rose. we then went and had lunch in town. the lunch took 2 hours with everyone else on the tour, and there wasn't an option to do our own thing. Would have been great if we could eat on our own and explore the town more since we were there for 2 hours instead of being stuck and paying for food my wife didn't care for. the last place we went was a vineyard with wine i frankly didn't care for... mind you it seems like the places we went weren't using a lot of oak and were aged in cement or steel. If that's your style then great, but i like bold rich with deep tanins and i know northern rhone can provide that, but sadly we didn't go anywhere with that. I wish I just looked up vineyards and drove myself. the tour ended two hours late as well and we didn't have an afternoon to explore lyon like we expected. The most unfortunate thing - we barely drank any wine! The tastes were TINY.

Even though it was quite a rainy day our tour guide Eddy made up for any inconvenience with his great knowledge of wine history and culture . Loved both of the wineries we visited and lunch was spectacular .

Whistlestop wine tour

Wonderful views and stunning scenery. Good explanations of grape and wine differences throughout this region. Delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where the food was outstanding. The trip lacked a historic context for the region, which has a glorious past, and as the guide was also our driver there were long periods in the car where silence reigned. Also the van's AC was hopelessly inadequate and quite uncomfortable for the long journeys.

Dear Lesley, thank you for your review. Indeed, this guide is a very good sommelier but maybe not the best historian. All our guides had a training about the history of this region but I presume that she couldn’t talk a lot while she was driving. I will of course tell her to speak more about history. I am sorry about the van.

Wonderful Rhône Wine Tour

Absolutely loved this tour and our guide was wonderful! We met at the Lyon tour office and off we went in a comfortable van with 7 of us including the guide All wines were excellent at the wineries. We made a stop for lunch and again an excellent choice. I highly recommend this tour

A fantastic wine day trip, with a very passionate and knowledgeable guide, Eddie. Two winery stops and tastings with very informative hosts, delicious wines, and an extra bottle of wine enjoyed with a stunning view of the township. A stop for lunch at the most delicious local restaurant was a perfect addition to the included itinerary. Merci!

Fantastic tour! I loved having a glass of wine at the top of the hermitage hill and overlooking the Rhône Valley. Breathtaking! The wineries were great, people were friendly, and wines were tasty. The lunch spot was just ok.

Pleasant but not worth high cost

It was pleasant but way too expensive. Nice small group but the AC in the van wasn’t working well and it’s hardly a scenic route - you get one nice vista shot. Wineries were basic. Tour guide barely spoke on the drive so you’re not learning much. Lunch not included.

Our tour was so good! Our tour guide Raphaelle was very knowledgeable and helped us understand more about each of the wines we were trying. She was a greats table host at the restaurant and helped us feel comfortable with each other (we were a group of 8 people that didn’t know each other). The two wineries we went to were very different from each other and both very passionate and inspiring. We would definitely recommend the tour!

Enjoyed the tour. Mathilde was very good, knowledgeable and friendly. Good exposure to N. Rhone wines. Made me look for them during dinners later in the week. Only downside, Ferraton tour guide was obviously under the weather and probably gave me a sore throat the next day. Minor inconvenience.

We loved our wine tour with Mathilde!. The wineries were great. We bought bottles for later from both, and have been enjoying wine with great memories throughout our trip. After the first winery we stopped to have lunch. It was the most fantastic little spot in one of the picturesque local villages. Food was spectacular!!! Mathilde also took us to the top of the hill for the most spectacular views! It was unforgettable! We loved every minute of our tour!

This was a small Mercedes van tour to a couple wineries and a small lunch spot (not included). Matilda’s knowledge and careful narration was exemplary. We had about 50 minute ride to the first location. It was rainy and cloudy but a good trip. The first winery was by far our favorite in terms of the wine. The second winery after lunch was in a beautiful location with a cool approach to their wine making. Great day trip out of Lyon.

Perfect day along the Rhône

We had the best time with our guide Mathilde. She communicated with us the day before to ensure we had all the details we needed. She met us at the designated point on time and spoke fluent English for our group. The group was only 7 people which was perfect size. The van was clean and comfortable. It took 45 mins to get to the first winery which was charming and the wine was delicious and the tour informative about the Rhône Region wines. We next stopped at a gorgeous lookout point over the Rhône and village of Hermitage. Matilde had a bottle of wine for us to open and have a glass in this beautiful spot. Next we went to a delicious little French bistro for lunch that was SO good. Finally we finished our tour at another winery on the opposite side of the Rhône. Pickup was at 9:30 and we were back at our hotel by 4:30. Highly recommend. The wines and scenery were exactly what we happen for.
