Raphaëlle was such a wonderful host. I learned so much at the interactive museum with a little game we played to understand the different parts of wine through all senses (except sound). The amount of wine we were able to taste was incredible and the variety was surprising. I’ve only ever had 2 types of Beaujolais: one labeled “Beaujolais” and one labeled “Beaujolais-Village”. On the tour, we tried white wine, rosé, and a large variety of reds. We visited a larger winery and a smaller family owned organic winery, both offering a great experience. It was lovely to meet with the smaller winemaker directly, it felt super personal and meaningful. I highly highly recommend this experience!

This was the highlight of our visit to Lyon. Rachel was amazing and was so helpful in telling us about Lyon and wine. Time traveling flew by and was just as fun as the wine tasting. Very comfortable ride, despite 95 degree weather. The first vineyard was equally comfortable with time inside in air conditioning and an appropriate amount of time out in the beautiful garden and vineyard for pictures and a few kisses. The second vineyard was smaller but equally informative on the process of making wine and how business and tradition compromise and dance to protect both the land and quality of the wine produced for years. Loved the tour and would highly recommend it. Hope to join Rachel on one of her many other tours as I couldn't imagine her disappointing in any context.

The Beaujolais region merits a visit. The first winery was polished and pristine...but had a gimmicky interactive exhibit. The second winery felt much more authentic. The vintner was passionate about the wine and carefully explained.
While the tour operator was knowledgeable, she was late in arriving and had difficulty driving and talking at the same time. She was also too quick to correct while her command of English is still developing.

Picturesque Chateau Pizay, self guided with tutorial, self served 12 wine tastings.
Beautiful Chateau Poirer with the owner including tastings and tour of the cellar. Really informative including information/demonstration of soils and the effect on wine.
The tour could benefit from the wine tutorial being interactive/guided or voluntary. The time spent compromised the self serve wine tasting which could also benefit from being interactive/guided. It felt impersonal. It would be helpful if the driver used a microphone in the bus and included all.

This was the last-minute booking for me, but I am very happy!I did it. Enjoyable drive out into the countryside north of Lyon to learn about Beaujolais wines. Two very different tasting experiences, both of them unique and enjoyable in their own way. The first one at a Château winery with beautiful gardens included a walking tutorial on all of the components that give wine its flavor.
I’ve been to a lot of wineries in my life and never seen the complexity and the components of wine, broken down quite so well, with all of the senses involved; taste, smell, touch, and visual.
The second experience was at a small family owned winery in a picturesque French Village, presided over by the owner. A very enjoyable, intimate setting, where the family showed its passion and its pride for their wines. I really enjoyed this tour, and highly recommend it if you want to get out into the wine country around Lyon, learn some new things, and benefit from a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.

Beautiful landscape, and some reasonable wine. I think beaujolais reputaion is a little unjust. A good beaujolais is a very good wine and a quite unique taste.
Our guide was excellent - great knowledge of both the area and the wine. It was a pleasure!

We had such a beautiful day and experience in Beaujolais. Our guide (Rachel) was very informative from the start of our journey, filling us in on the history of the region, the varietals, terroirs and what to expect. The first stop was a very old estate that had a comprehensive and fun walking experience of the tasting components of wine. This was followed by a tasting of various wines and learning about each. They actually had wines from several villages to try and compare. The next stop was a beautiful hilltop estate in Fleurie and we got to learn about the different stages of their winemaking process unique to Beaujolais. This was followed by another great tasting.
The trip was well planned and timed, but our guide really added to the experience with her knowledge and excitement about the region. Just an overall great time.

Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about the elements involved in the aroma, taste and feel of wine and the stories behind the wines that we sampled as well as the wines themselves. The scenery was beautiful and the trip went smoothly from start to finish. We enjoyed the chance to meet fellow travelers from different places and backgrounds. We had fun and would recommend this tour to anyone.

Raphael was our guide and she was great. She was very knowledgeable and organised.
We stopped at 2 wineries and they were both good.
We left on time and got back on time.
Rhonda_R, Oct 2024
Our guide, Clemence, was wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable as to the wines, the terrior(sp?) and the history of the area. Do recommend this tour.

Such a great experience. The two venues were very different from one another which I appreciated. The wine was great and our guide was very informational. The others on the group were great and fun company.

Visit to the cellar was the most memorable part of the wine tasting trip.
The wine tasting experience to the beaujolais vineyard could have been better had their expert accompanied us during the tutorial session.
Cornelia_V, Jun 2024
Very informative trip, learning about the geology of the area, the wines, the winemaking process, and experiencing the different wines with all our senses.

Excellent short tour into the French countryside north of Lyon. Pleasant visits to two well established wineries. Yann was great guide and source of useful information.

We had a good experience on this wine tour. Francois was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his job.
Upsides of the tour:
-explored 2 different wineries
-beautiful scenery on drive
Downsides:
-we did not get to explore the grounds at either winery. I personally would have liked more education on the wine making process and touring the facility would help with that
-the 1st winery was a “self-guided tasting”. Nothing wrong with that if you don’t mind going around to different spouts and trying what you want to try, but personally I would have liked someone pouring the wine and telling me more about it. We did this more at the second winery and the wine was much better there
-not much versatility in the grapes you will taste. The region is known for Gamay so you will have a lot of that. Not a full bodied red, more fruit forward and less aged so you will not be drinking deep cabs or anything like that
-not a very elevated wine experience. Wasn’t horrible but wasn’t my favorite.
Nigel_K, Apr 2024
Rachel provided an abundance of historical background to the region as well as an excellent knowledge of the wine region and wines produced. The tour was well paced and a great experience.
lisa_k, Apr 2024
Rachel was very nice, fun and a very knowledgeable guide! The tour was on time and very well organized. We had a great time. Highly recommended.
William_A, Apr 2024
We liked the interactive learning, tasting, and testing. It was a very hands on way to develop my wine tasting approach. We visited two vineyards. One was very large. The other very intimate. Tasted over a dozen wines. All were very nice. Definitely the easiest way to experience Beaujolais when staying in Lyon without a car. And our guides were excellent. We ended up being only ourselves (2 people) on tour and we loved the extra attention.
Arnold_W, Oct 2023
The guide was excellent! Positive and knowledgeable. A great experience. Nice small friendly group. Good choice of vineyards.
Susan_H, Oct 2023
Our guide, Rachel, was wonderful. Nice to get out of the city and experience some of the countryside. Did not love any of the wines we tasted, but did learn about Beaujolais. .
Cameron_C, Sep 2023
Very fun tour. Enjoyed the tasting quiz. Beautiful wineries and the scenery getting there was stunning. Our guide was very informative.
Agnes_L, Aug 2023
The wine guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was hoping to check out the wine cellar, but it was not part of the tour. great Beaujolais wine tasting thou.
Susan_O, Jul 2023
Excellent tour - Small group made it easy to get around and Clemence was very knowledgeable and approachable. The wineries visited and wine-tasting was great. I learnt so much and enjoyed the drive around Beaujolais region.
Laura_S, Jul 2023
Rachel was an excellent guide! She had much knowledge not only about the wine of the region but the history of Lyon. Wines were great and both wineries visited were very different - very educational!

We really enjoyed our half-day tour to the Beaujolais region from Lyon. Our guide Clémence arrived early, which is a nice change from other group tours. We went to the Chateau de Pizay and had a wonderful experience learning about wine, and putting our newfound knowledge to the test by taking a quiz. We tasted wines from different villages/crus and then went over to the Chateau de Julienas, where we had more tasting and learned about the chateau and its viticulture history (dating from the 1500's!). I think we all came out of the visit with a newfound appreciation for Beaujolais wines.
Kevin_K, May 2023
Great trip out to the vineyards! We saw two. The smaller family run one was more appealing. She took more time with us rather than a self guided tour. Our guide was great and didn’t rush us. Great way to spend the day.
Erin_W, May 2023
François was very knowledgeable about the wine and the region. We visited 2 wineries and everything was delicious. As a bonus we got lovely views of the vineyards and countryside as we drove to our destinations. I would use this tour group again for future wine region tours.
DennisH, Apr 2023
It was a very informative tour with a knowledgeable and extremely fluent tour guide. The wine trail was fun as well as educational.
Ryan_N, Jul 2022
The practical experience at Château de Pizay was fun and educational for a novice like me. Learned much about wine making and style as we walk through 8 stations with our wine glass and quiz list, understanding basic wine making, wine features eg tannin, acidity, sugar level with actual tasting n smelling to discern what we read
