Overview
The coastal waters off Lima are ideal for surfing, but mastering the waves can be tough. On this surfing course—aimed at learners of all ages—take to the surf with your guide and practise paddling and popping on your board. With all equipment included, and specially adapted learning surfboards to practise on, splash through the waves and improve your skills in the surf. Classes run throughout the day.

I went as a solo traveler and had a few questions beforehand, they answered promptly. I would highly recommend using this group for your lesson! I’ve already recommended it to several people.

I had a great experience with my first surf lesson in Lima. I really appreciated that they offer pickup and drop-off, because getting a car to the Malecón can sometimes be tricky with traffic. Javier picked me up and was very punctual, and when my lesson ended he made sure I had a ride home quickly when he saw I was waiting when he came out from another lesson he led. He even took a video of me in my wetsuit and helped pose me with the board so I’d have a great memory from my first time surfing.
They provide all the equipment you need, including the wetsuit, board, and surf shoes. The shoreline is very rocky, so the shoes are definitely necessary and made getting in and out of the water much easier. They also give you a bright branded shirt to wear over your wetsuit, which I assume helps them quickly identify students out in the water.
My instructor stayed with me the entire time in the water and was very helpful. I liked the style of the lesson, because he was right there guiding me and positioning my board so I could catch waves. I was in the water for about an hour and had plenty of opportunities to try.
It was my first time surfing, and while I had high hopes that I’d stand up & ride all the waves - right away…! I quickly learned it’s harder than it looks! Out of maybe 8 or 9 waves, I was able to stand up twice (on my second and third attempts). After that my front foot kept getting stuck on the board, throwing my balance off, so I definitely need more practice with the technique.
That said, I never felt unsafe in the water. The instructor made me feel very comfortable and confident, and I was able to quickly get back on my board and paddle out again to him, after each attempt.
The lesson wrapped up after a strong wave crashed down on us and my instructor’s board washed to shore (luckily another instructor on the team grabbed it - i was amazed how fast it happened!), Plus the other student in the lesson - he was done/tired and waiting on the shore. Even though I still had energy…surfing is a lot of work! I do a lot of Ashtanga and kettlebell training, so that helped my stamina a lot, otherwise I would have been completely exhausted.
Overall, it was a really fun first surfing experience, and it definitely made me want to keep learning. I’ll absolutely try surfing again.

Had an amazing beginner surf lesson in Lima! The instructors were incredibly patient and knowledgeable, making me feel comfortable and excited from the start. They took time to explain everything clearly, from basic techniques to ocean safety, which was perfect for someone with no prior experience. The waves were just the right size for learning, and the beach location was beautiful and well-suited for beginners. By the end of the session, I was actually able to catch a few waves! Highly recommend this lesson to anyone looking to try surfing for the first time—great experience and fantastic people!

We had such a great time. The instructors are wonderful. They were super great once we hit the water and helped you find just the right wave. They were really great with my younger kids, who had so much fun learning to surf . I would totally do it again.

I had a class with Jorge, and cannot recommend him enough. He was very attentive, engaged, he articulated everything very clearly, made sure I was safe on water. As someone not too good with balance, and with drowning experience in choppy water - I’ve managed to be comfortable and to ride every single wave I took at a first go.

Hector was an awesome guide. He was very patient and provided great feedback. My boyfriend and I were both able to stand which was our only goal for the first time surfing. Another guide surfed next to us to gopro record us. We ended up not paying extra for this feature but it is available. Overall, a great, fun, and safe activity. Wetsuits were also provided!

Enjoyed the experience. Instructors were very knowledgable and felt completely safe with them. My 11 year old daughter loved it and I felt she was in safe hands and I trusted them with her safety. Instructors all catered to my comfort level and made sure we knew what we were doing before heading out on the water. Would totally recommend it and would do it again when I return to Lima.

Our surf lessons with Oscar, guided by Javier's perfectly timed pick-up, were an unforgettable experience. Oscar, our personal instructor, was exceptional. His clear instructions and infectious enthusiasm made our first surfing experience both fun and successful. We not only learned the basics but also managed to surf for the first time, all thanks to Oscar's expert guidance. The highlight was when Oscar welcomed us into the 'surf society,' a moment that made us feel accomplished and part of a larger community. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed.

We loved this tour so much!! We booked the night before for a 8AM lesson and it was an experience. My spouse and I were able to get up from the surf boards right away with the straight forward training that's provided. They picked us up from our airbnb and back which is nice when your traveling with no car. Please take the time to experience surfing in Lima you won't regret it!!

My family of four, including two kidsand all beginners, enjoyed the private lesson. Each kid had their own instructor and my little one got to ride on the board *with* the instructor. The wetsuits and boards were in good shape. Follow the instructions carefully if you get yourself to the beach, there are a good 6-10 other surf schools there, all trying to sell lessons. Look for the orange tent with Pukana on it. It's a little chaotic at first, but be patient. After a short warm up and 'lessons on land, you will get into the water. The waves are small and good for beginners.

The most memorable part of my experience was being able to surf after a couple of tries. The instructors are excellent. The experience was so good that I returned the next day for another session. If I had stayed more days in Lima I would have returned again and again. Will definitely do it again on my next trip to Peru.

I tried surfing for the very first time in my life, and I am very happy I did it. I can certainly recommend it to everyone. I post a 4 start instead of a 5 star review because the guide who was with me did not speak English despite the description stating the experience to be in English.

As a beginner who has only surfed once before, I enjoyed surfing with these guys so much that I went two days in a row. Lorenzo and Oscar were both fantastic instructors - consistently positive energy, personalized helpful instructing, and great stories to tell - I caught a ton of big waves with their help. The logistics were also very smooth and well-communicated from pick up to drop off. You honestly have ample time with the ~two hour slot and you're more likely to finish from being tired out in the water rather than the actual time limit. Definitely would recommend anyone interested in surfing to check these guys out when you're in Lima.
