Itinerary

Experience a bird’s eye view flying by Cessna plane above one of the great creations of the ancient world, the Nazca Lines, on this full-day tour from Lima. Learn the fascinating myths about the creation of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, unexplained by scientists and archaeologists to this day.

Start your Nazca excursion with an early morning pickup from your hotel in San Isidro or Miraflores, proceeding by luxury Mercedes van with your guide toward the Peruvian city of Paracas for your flight.

Arrive at the airport, climb aboard your Cessna plane, and soar above the arid plains of the Nazca Plateau, a remote desert area that is home to this famous archaeological site.

Gaze in wonder as your pilot loops you around each of the site’s unique designs, allowing time for a closer look. While the creation of the lines remains a mystery, many experts believe the Nazca people designed them sometime between 200 BC and AD 650.

The majority depict various animals and symbolic events from Nazca culture. The site’s 300-foot (90-meter) monkey, for example, has just nine fingers, which is believed to represent the nine months of drought that occur in the area each year. Meanwhile, the spider design is thought to represent water and fertility, as the creatures frequently appeared before rainstorms. The site’s flamingo, condor, and hummingbird are thought to relate to the winter and summer solstices, as each bird’s beak aligns with the sunrise and sunsets on these dates.

Take time to capture plenty of pictures, returning to Paracas Airport when the time is up. Feel free to grab lunch at your own expense in town before the return trip back to your hotel.

Well organised and received frequent communications from the tour operator in the run up to the tour. The drive is 4 hours each direction (with a refreshment stop halfway). Refreshment points had clean toilets and a well stocked grocery store. The flight itself is incredible. The pilot will circle around each geoglyph on both the left and right side of the plane so everyone gets a clear view, each passenger has a window seat. A long day but breathtaking memories.

A unique and mystical journey back into time

MarkMeredith_M, Oct 2025
An almost 12 hour journey taking one back into an ancient time that still amazes, mystifies and entertains the senses. Our guide and driver were attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. Our guide provided the right balance of information and quiet and always was ready to answer questions with the thoughtful reply and anecdote.

Nazca Line Flight

This is not an inexpensive trip but it is well worth it. Everyone has a window seat. The pilots bank the plane twice so both sides get a good view of each figure.

I was picked up at 6:40 am and dropped off at 7:30 pm. That is all I have to say but they demand more characters

Worth the drive worth the plane ride

Great trip. Scheduled very well and on time. It’s a long drive out there but the bus was comfortable. Please do listen to the warnings if you are prone to getting air sick. I am not prone and I still got nauseous with the high banking maneuvers. Totally worth it though to see such an extraordinary sight.

Delay and pick of of persons

SERGIY_L, Jul 2024
All was good in general except the trip back. We stopped to pick up someone from Paracas on the way back - the person was not from our group at all. The person started playing very loud music on the bus and didn’t allow anyone of us to rest. Finally we asked our guide to interfere and it became tolerable at least. Strange that the tour guide would pick up someone who was not part of our group.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that most of your trip was enjoyable, but we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced on the way back. It’s unusual and concerning that someone not part of your group was picked up, and we’re sorry for the disruption caused by the loud music. We will definitely address this issue with our team to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Your comfort and enjoyment are our top priorities, and we appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Best way to see the Nazca Lines!

Stephanie_G, Jun 2024
Amazing! The Nazca Lines have been on my bucket list for years and this tour did not disappoint. Some reviews suggested the ride was "bumpy" but I did not find that at all. It was very smooth in my experience. No one else seemed nauseous on my flight either. Of course, it is a small plane so it's not for those with a fear of flying. I was impressed that the copilot identified the figures in English and Japanese.

Cool ride on the vomit comet

Michael_D, May 2024
BEWARE: the plan is small, it flies in circles around the geoglyphs, and it bounces with turbulence. Many people on our flight got sick (not me). While the geogylphs are definitely cool to see first hand, not sure it was much better than watching a video shot from a drone. I was focused on not barfing much of the time we circled them.

Worth the trip to see Nazca lines

Arun_C, May 2024
The trip was very nice and the Nazca lines are worth seeing. The travel was mostly well handled, and the airplane ride was fantastic. We got great views and were astounded by the care the pilots took to ensure we did not miss seeing the figures. The only part that I was upset about was the return journey. The company kept me waiting for 2.5 hours for no valid reason. They were using the vehicle for some local pickup and drop purposes for the 2.5 hours.

Awesome!

Bronwyn_C, May 2024
The pilot made sure that everyone got to see all the figures- made for an exciting and memorable experience.

Day Trip to Nazca Lines

GeraldDayro_M, Feb 2024
Mémorable once in a life time experience. The day started off with driver picking up promptly at 630am with a 4 hour drive to Pisco. Arrived in Pisco airport and greeted with nice airport staff. Hopped on a 12 seater Cessna plane. The pilots are very nice and informed. 30 minute plane trip to see Nazca Lines. Spent 30 minutes viewing the lines with a 30 minute plane trip back to airport. 5 hour ride back to hotel. A total worthwhile experience when planning a trip to Lima, Peru😊!

Over the Line(s)

John_V, Feb 2020
The time flying over the Nazca lines is great. However, know that from Lima, there is quite a lot of travel time involved.

Wonder trip to see the Nazca Lines

xxdennis50, Feb 2020
wonderful experience to see the Nazca Lines, beautiful scenery during the flight. travel director is quite friendly and helpful. enjoy the trip very much.

Exceptional experience

bosslinda, Feb 2020
Brilliant views of the lines. The trip was well organised and took very good care of customers. The flight itself should come with a warning to take travel sickness medication before you go, as nearly everyone on the flight was sick which somewhat spoiled what was an exceptional experience

Worth the bus ride

Clinton_V, Jan 2020
The flight over the lines was a great experience and not one for people who don’t like flying. But the bus ride there and back is tough!

Perfect tour

851raulb, Dec 2019
Timely pick up at hotel, smooth ride to nearest brand new airport, short wait for tour flight, perfect weather and saw all Nazca lines included in brochure (around 15).

Great Trip

Kenneth_H, Sep 2019
I had an unexpected free day in Lima and elected to go to the Nazca Lines. It was expensive, but well worth it. All logistics, from pickup to return were handled smoothly. My only suggestion was the copilot's commentary was sometimes near incomprehensible. Still I got most of the pictures I went for. All in all, a very good day.

Nazca Lines Tour

Peggy D, Sep 2018
I was picked up at my hotel in Lima at 7 a.m. as scheduled for the 3-hour drive to Paracas, where we would go on a 12-passenger Cessna for a flight over the Nazca Lines. It took 1/2 hour to get to the Nazca Lines and the flight was smooth. Everyone had a window seat. When the passengers on either side of the plane were viewing the Lines, the plane's wing would dip down almost parallel to the ground and be quite close to it. We could make out the geoglyphs after the pilot pointed them out to us. There was some turbulence on the flight back but not too bad. After we got back to Paracas, we had lunch at its harbor before heading back to Lima. As my two tour mates were from Mexico, the tour was conducted in both English and Spanish. The trip was quite an experience and our guide, driver, and driver's assistant were all excellent.

Great experience, Very professional

Jose_S, Jul 2018
The airplanes are very comfortable, everyone gets a window with a great view of the lines. The narration is in English and very informative. you may get a little airsick towards the end but then they level off and head for home. total is about 1.5 hours.

This tour was quite good. It was a long day with the travel from Lima and back, but the flight over the Nazca Lines was very interesting. The pilot gave very good commentary and did his absolute best to point out the various 'lines' which was very helpful in knowing where to look.

We were picked up at our hotel an hour earlier than the originally scheduled time. Our guide gave us minimal information as we climbed aboard a bus. We then went to several other hotels for others to board. My husband and I were the only English speakers on the bus. Teh guide would talk for several minutes in Spanish, then say to me and my husband, I will meet you after the flight and you will be returned to your hotel. With my limited Spanish, I determined that the others were on an extended tour. They received information about what we passed as we drove the several hours to the airport. I have no idea what we missed on that part of the tour. The flight was paid for in advance, but we still had to pay an airport tax in cash. It wasn't expensive, but it would have been nice to have been forewarned. The flight itself was short. We saw most of the lines, although a few were hard to find and one - the whale - was impossible to see. A few people got sick on the flight, but were very quiet about it. Seeing the lines was wonderful, but there was a lot of traveling involved and a more informative guide could have made a good experience a wonderful one. Photography was tough, because the lines went by so fast. I only ended up with one photograph. Would I do it again? Probably. I'd do it in a heartbeat if a helicopter ride was offered. Hovering would have been so much easier than the roller-coaster ride that the flight was.

The Air tour was excellent but the transportation was very poor. The distance of 210 K.M. which can be covered easily in 2.5 hour, it was covered in 4 hours. The highway 15 was 4 lane and 6 lanes with a speed limit of 100K.M. Tour guide had no knowledge about the tour and did not explain anything about Nazca lines.

Could only spare one day so feel I missed a lot. The lines were not as big as I'd thought they were and so would have liked to spend time in the town and see the water system. Suggest 2 day trip if you have the time.

The plane ride is like a roller coaster ride and felt quite sick afterwards. The view is however amazing from the plane, but I wouldn't do it again - definitely a once off.

Ronald L, May 2015
Although the guide did speak English, he spent most of the bus ride speaking Spanish without translating what he was saying for the English speakers. The flight over the Nazca lines was disappointing in that each passenger got very little time to see each image. I didn't feel the entire trip was worth the cost.

Aida Portia F, Oct 2014
My son and I traveled to view the Nazca lines from Lima on Oct 4. We were picked up from the hotel at exactly the time we were told. The car was clean and comfortable and the drive was long (we were told that and expected it). Our guide Angelo was nice and attentive to us although he did not talk much except to identify some of the towns that we drove through. The flight over the lines was uneventful with the pilots not saying anything which prompted one of the passengers on the plane to ask whether we will be told when we reached the lines. Then without warning the pilot said to look to the left side of the plane and see the "ballena", then the pilot made a sharp turn and said "now on the right side "the same ballena". This continued for a few minutes with the plane swinging sharply from one fantastic image on the ground to the other. In my mind the turns were very sharp that many of the 12 passengers in the plane were airsick. I don't know that there is another way to see the lines but there has to be a better way. After the plane landed, we once again boarded our ride back to Lima. Angelo was very attentive and helpful to one of the other passenger who was still motion sick. I rate this trip four stars because they may not be a better way to see the lines from the air.
