Itinerary
Receive a pickup from your Lima hotel to start the excursion. You’ll pre-arrange before your trip if you prefer the morning or afternoon departure time.
Begin the excursion with an investigation of “ancestral” Lima and its Pre-Columbian cultures. You’ll visit the Pucllana Pyramid archaeological site, believed to have been built in the 4th century AD, and learn about its designation as a “sacred village” by Peru’s famous Inca culture.
Leaving behind the Pyramid, begin an exploration of Lima’s colonial-era culture and landmarks. You’ll proceed to Lima’s Historic Center to discover highlights including San Martín Square, Paseo de la República, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Government Palace, City Council Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, and more. Then stop by the Banco Central de Reserva Museum, where you can admire some of the beautiful textiles, gold, and ceramics created by Peru’s various Pre-Columbian cultures (closed on Mondays and Saturday and Sunday afternoons).
After your trip to the museum, stop by the San Francisco Convent, home to one of the largest arrays of religious art in the Americas, and tour Lima’s “spooky” underground “Catacumbas” (catacombs). End the excursion by visiting some of Lima’s most popular modern-day neighborhoods, offering a glimpse of areas including San Isidro, Larcomar, and Miraflores.
You’ll receive a drop-off back at your Lima hotel at the end of the trip.

Our tour guide, Julio was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about Lima and Peru’s history. The catacombs were amazing and the highlight of the tour.

This was not a good tour. I would not recommend it. Book with some other tour company. I would not recommend Viator.

We got this Lima tour half day and it was no visit to the Catacombs and so far no explanation or any type of refund about it?
Thank you!

Dear Traveller,
Thank you for your review, we are sorry that we could´t inform you in time that the San Francisco convent was closed so that make us impossible to visit the catacombs. instead we visit the Santo Domingo church and complete all sites of our visit in Lima.
Again thank you for your feedback this will help us to improve our services and inform ahead of time and avoid any bad moment.

I'm giving this tour 3 stars mainly for the catacombs near the end. That was a highlight for sure, and I'm sad we couldn't take photos. Be aware that when this says half day, it's not really a half day. We were finished in under 4 hours, with quite a bit of time spent for pickups and bus changes. The information I received was good, but not nearly as thorough as I was expecting for a city tour. We didn't stop much except for the historic main district, so it was a bummer to be told of sights while speeding by on the bus. Our bus had both English and Spanish speaking tours, and even though we had headsets to better hear our particular guide, it was distracting to have the other guide speaking the other language on the bus at the same time. Just be aware of that if you have trouble hearing.
