It was nice hike up to some view points to see the volcano. Note, it is unusual to see to the full volcano as the top normally has fog/clouds around it. This is what happened for our hike. The guide was informative, and we saw some wildlife as well. We enjoyed the waterfall much more. It's very beautiful, and there was time baked into the tour to jump in the water. Note, it's a bit of a hike down (500 steps) to the waterfall.

Mini combo tour review

lindsay_s, Jul 2025
We did the mini tour of hanging bridges and waterfall with lunch to follow. It was beautiful. The hike for the hanging bridges was nice for those who don't mind a bit of walking with minor inclines on cement. The views were lovely and David our tour guide had eagle eyes and pointed out all sorts of snakes, bugs, bats, flowers and monkeys. We'd have never noticed if he didn't stop to show us. He also used his scope to take some amazing photos for us. Next stop for us was the la fortuna waterfall. It would have been nice to have a little more time here as we had a nine year old and 3 teens who were enjoying the water. BE AWARE...the stairs to the bottom of the falls are no joke!!!! Only one way down and one way back up. 500 steps in total and it was tough! David was extremely patient and followed behind to make sure we all made it. He was very encouraging and didn't mind that we took many breaks along the way. I'm not sure what was worse, the shortness of breath or the fatigue of the muscles in my legs ( I will also point out, that we are not completely out of shape either, it was extreme). Lunch followed at an outdoor restaurant. Many choices to pick from and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Others in the group were going on to tour the volcano. My group of 8 was happy our day came to an end around 3...we were exhausted and I think everyone had had enough sightseeing and walking for the day. They also made an unplanned pitstop on the side of the road for us to take photos of a sloth in the trees! Pickup was at our Airbnb at 745. They were a few minutes early which was fine. They provided towels which was nice not to have to worry about. We were able to keep things we didn't need on the bus without worry which was also really nice. All in all, we loved our tour! David, Samuel and audiel were wonderful. We felt safe and well taken care of. Would VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND water shoes for the waterfall (very rocky and slippery) bring a small lightweight backpack to carry a poncho and water bottle for the hike.

Fun family day!

This was really fun! Walking on the hanging bridges, such a beautiful walk. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We chose the waterfall and lunch option and enjoyed the day. It was a great way to see these popular spots.

Hanging bridges and waterfall tour

My husband and I enjoyed this experience. A tour guides are very knowledgeable and professional. We were lucky to see lots of wildlife on the day. We went on the hanging bridges tour. I will say it was a lot of walking and steps for us, we are 60. It was all worth it. The lunch at the end was from a local business and was a very nice touch at the end of the tours.

Fun Trip 2024

Chino was an excellent guide. We walked through the rainforest stopping to see different birds, insects, and animals. The bridges were thrilling. The La Fortuna waterfall was breathtaking! And the lunch from the local restaurant was a delicious treat.

Wonderful guide and the hanging bridges and waterfall and lunch made for a perfect day. Beautiful way to see La Fortuna!

A great tour!

We had a great trip with Joshua and Venicio, with Alex Driving. We did the hanging bridges and waterfall tour. We are a family of 6, kids 5-14 and everyone had fun, and the 5 year old managed the stairs at the waterfall just fine. This was a nice sized tour, we had 17 in our group which seemed perfectly manageable. Things we didn’t know that we wish we had: you can leave some stuff in the bus (assume it to be at your own risk), so you don’t need to lug around bathing suits and things like that through the hike. The tour provided towels at the waterfall and there is a small restroom at the entrance to the falls you can change in. Overall we had a great time, the guides were amazing with our kids, especially my 5 year old who can be quite talkative. We are glad we booked this tour in our short trip to La Fortuna.

Enjoyed the Bridges, Meh on the waterfall, and great guide!

The day started of amazingly - prompt pickup; super friendly and informative guide (David); and easy entry to the Hanging Bridges. The park was busy but David managed our expectations well as to the various wait times due to capacity management on some of the bridges. He searched diligently to find wildlife for us to see and was great about capturing photos on our phones via his telescopic scope. We were really fortunate to see a Margay which made the trip extra special. La Fortuna waterfall is nice but didn’t really seem to us to be worth all the hype. There were a lot of steps for what amounted to a short and very cold swim and a couple of waterfall photos. The lunch was yummy but the open air restaurant is on the main road so it was a little noisy. All in all a good trip but we personally would skip the waterfall if we were to do it again.

Perfect way to start our CR trip!

The communication was wonderful with this tour operation. Our guide Jason was wonderful. We began our trip with hanging bridges. I am EXTREMELY afraid of heights but was able to do this (and that’s saying a LOT). The bridges are very secure and the scenery is totally worth it! Jason was able to point out wildlife and he was very knowledgeable. The tour was about 2 hours. Afterwards they had pineapple for us. We then went directly to La fortuna waterfall. The hike down was pretty easy and the waterfall left me speechless. The water was cool…but not freezing. You have about an hour down there and then get ready to make your way back up. I’m in good shape and found it difficult. My legs are still aching. After this we headed to a local soda where we had already placed our order. Food was great and you can buy a cerveza to congratulate yourself on your day! Our family absolutely loved this tour of hanging bridges and waterfall. We followed this tour with a viator day pass to Baldi hot springs with dinner to help our sore muscles!!

The trip to the hanging bridges, followed by La Fortuna waterfall was excellent. Our guide, Alvaro, was knowledgable, took his time and helped the whole group enjoy the trip.

Hanging Bridges and Waterfall Hike

The views of the volcano, swimming at the waterfall, and our wonderful guides Bryan and Jason. Guides were very knowledgeable and adept at finding wildlife, the experience would not have been as rich without them.

Beautiful and exciting scenery

Shohreh_E, Jan 2024
Orlando was a fabulous driver and guide. We were picked up promptly at the stated time. We did the float and waterfall activities. It was more than enough for the day. After an exciting day, we had lunch at La Cava. The fish and pizza were delicious. We had a very memorable day. Thank you Orlando!

Great use of time and money!

German_G, Apr 2023
Awesome day! Very action-packed and great tour and tour group. Our guides were Joseph, Jenny, and Oscar. We went to the hanging bridges first, and the waterfall - everything looked amazing and was incredibly fun.

Everything was pretty touristy

Mia_C, Apr 2023
Hanging bridges: Great if you’re old(er) or have kids, but if you’re an active couple, we thought it was pretty boring being slowed down with our group. We wouldn’t do this again. Waterfall: we loved it! Joshua let us go off on our own and adventure out which was great. Recommend grabbing a cocktail at the bar for the walk down, but remember to grab your trash when you’re done. Next time I think we could of done this on our own without a guide.

Great guide was well worth it

Nancy_N, Apr 2023
Our guide Bryan was funny and experienced. Our float trip guide, was also great. Had a lot of experience and we saw many animals.

Solid experience and great guides

Catherine_F, Mar 2023
Shoutout to our guides, Martin and Jason! We had a fun time on this tour. We unfortunately did not see too much wildlife at the Mistico Hanging Bridges but our guide did point out some interesting frogs, plants, and insects that we certainly would not have noticed without him, so if that interests you, I’d still recommend going with a guide. The waterfall was super fun and we felt we had plenty of time to enjoy it at our own pace. Lunch was at a restaurant in downtown La Fortuna and the food was solid. Overall a good experience but if you’re not trying to maximize chances of seeing wildlife, we felt we could have done both the hanging bridges and the waterfall on our own as well.

A must do while in Costa Rica

Laura_B, Feb 2023
The hanging bridges are a definite stop in a trip to Costa Rica and the waterfall is gorgeous. Andres was the perfect guide.

Amazing Tour Guide-breathtaking sights included

chelsieroyal, Jul 2022
We loved seeing a variety of animals and learning about Costa Rica's biodiversity. Our excursion was extra special because of our tour guide Greivin. He went out of his way make us comfortable and show us extra highlights including plants and animals. He was also able to answer many questions we had regarding Costa Rica's culture and history. His English was excellent and has been a guide for 15 years. In addition, he was always smiling and full of positivity. I would highly recommend booking any Viator with Greivin!

Great tour of the Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna waterfall!

Hillary_S, Jun 2022
We chose the hanging bridges and the La Fortuna waterfall. Both were incredible and our guide David was great! He found such joy in showing us everything. He even got word where a sloth was off the side of the road and we made an impromptu stop to observe for a bit. The tour company was wonderful as we left a personal belonging on the shuttle and it was returned. Thanks for the great day!

Response from Host, Jun 2022

Fun excursion!

This is a fun combo tour. Going to the hanging bridges with a guide was really nice. He found and showed us wildlife we would have normally missed. The waterfall is definitely worth checking out - just be ready for some COLD water! The included lunch and dessert were delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Response from Host, Apr 2022

Great Excursion!

We had such a wonderful experience. Our driver and guide Helena and Ronald picked us up from our hotel in the morning. We were with 2 other groups. The pace of the hanging bridge canopy tour was perfect. Our guide was so knowledgeable, funny, and personable. Ronald, our driver, was a great time as well. After our tour, we hiked the waterfall and swam for a bit before having lunch at a serene location. My husband and I enjoyed the company of Helena and Ronald during lunch and didn't want the day to end! I would highly reccomend booking through Trip Advisor/Viator. Everything was taken care of before the trip, and we had a wonderful time.

Great tour and tour guide!

Latona_R, Jul 2018
This is a great tour and the tour guide (Rebecca) is great. They are very knowledgeable and cater to all your needs (water, cold towels after the hike, etc.). Highly recommend!

Muy recomendable! El guia excelente

Ral_C, Aug 2022
