Depending on what option you chose for this 7-hour day trip from Krakow, you could be picked up anywhere between 7:30am to 11:00am. If you picked the shared option, you’ll be picked up in a shared vehicle, but if you picked either of the other two options (private or round-trip transport), you’ll be picked up in a private vehicle.
Once you’re in your vehicle, relax and enjoy the ride over to Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. The drive takes about one hour. If you chose the private or shared option, follow your guide at the UNESCO World Heritage Site for a guided 1.5-hour tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II–Birkenau. The camps have been preserved since 1947, and your guide fills you in on tons of interesting facts as you go.
If you picked the round-trip transport with no guided tour option, then explore the camps on your own. After your time at Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, get back in your vehicle for the 1-hour ride to Krakow. Get dropped off at your hotel around 3pm or 4pm.

Really good tour, our pick up from our hotel was on time, Damian was very professional and gave us some history highlights on the way. The tour of the camps was confronting at times but it is all apart of history, we can only hope it never repeats itself, we really enjoyed this tour.

Private transport and excellent driver who was very knowledgeable about Auschwitz and Krakow. Tour guide at Auschwitz & Birkenau very informative and friendly. Our group was 30 in number but there were two guides so it made far more workable having just 15 people in the group. Very emotional & thought provoking site to visit, everyone should go at least once in their lives!

I highly recommend this tour! Communication with the company was easy and they responded quickly.
Damian was our driver. He arrived down to the minute the time we were expecting him, he was driving a nice big and clean car to fit 5 people. He reminded us to bring our ID’s. He was polite, and told us what to expect from our tour. We were early so he drove us around to see the train station where people arrived and to see the cattle train they arrived in. He walked us from the parking lot to our tour group, had our tickets, and then met us at the gate at the end of the tour. Then he drove us to Birkenau once again, walked us to our tour group again, and waited for us to leave.
We saw lines everywhere and a lot of people lost.
Admission to Auschwitz-Birkenau is free, you have to get tickets from their website. However, not having to navigate a car ride both ways from Krakow with kids, and not having to try to figure out how to get around the museum grounds full of people was totally worth the price of this trip excursion.
One of the best private tours I have ever had.
As for the tour themselves, there are only vending machines food, if you come with kids. If you are going in the summer bring an umbrella, it is hot at Birkenau.

Illuminating, sobering experience, but tour feels rushed as guide must adhere to schedule for each group. Much preferred Holocaust Museum in DC where there is time to absorb the total experience.
Only a 10-minute break is allowed between Auschwitz and Birkenau after a 90-minute walk at Auschwitz and an upcoming 1.8 mile walk at Birkenau. Strenuous day possibly for seniors which should be noted in tour description.

This is a must do trip, it’s emotionally draining to see the horrors people suffered during this dark period of humanity. I’m glad we had the private transport, not only for the privacy to reflect during our journey back to the hotel, but to have a knowledgeable driver who knew and understood the history and culture of Poland. Damian was the best and looked after us all day.

We had a great private driver to Aushwitz- the weather was terrible and he drove very carefully and safely through all the snow. Guide at Aushwitz was very good. We skipped Birkenau bc it was just too cold and glad we had the option bc we had a private driver

Damien our driver was on time, and delivered a perfect service right to the door. On arrival it didn't stop raining which did make us reflect on how bad it must have been in Winter. The tour guide was excellent. However, we were hoping to take time to wander alone, to look up, look across, look inside .... just to take a good look at everything to gain a real sense of what happened here. Seeing TV documentaries, reading books, and listening to family experiences is much more moving, and informative. I do understand why tourists are fully guided but had I been aware I might not have visited.

Everything was ok until we had to be transported to the second location - Birkenau, and there was miscommunication between our driver and the museum guide, and it resulted in us being late for the second part of the tour and we had to run to catch the guide.
The tour in general was interesting but we felt rushed everywhere.

Driver, Darius, is very knowledgeable of Polish history and filled our ride from Old Town to Auschwitz with fascinating information. The Auschwitz and Birkenau visits retell a horrific period of history, and help us to understand what actually occurred at these places during that time

This was a fantastic tour of the past. We found Birkenau more interesting than the first part of the tour. It was all great and a definite must see for any visitor to the country. We were amazed by the size of the camps. It also appears that restoration is taking place to see that it does not disappear. Not being Jewish, it was amazing to see the history of what one group of people can do to another. We got lots of information and clarity. This is a must see venue for all ages. It is a bigger story than just the Jewish solution. Think of all the others that also endured this humiliation and death (mentally ill, experimental medical, Jews, non-Arian types, Polish, Romanians, gays, educated and etc. The list goes on. This is a lesson for any people when the extremists (left or right) get too far ahead in their political views to take full control of any society.
