This was an incredible experience to see so much of historical Istanbul with the help of a knowledgeable guide. Hazal, our guide, was terrific and helped us navigate the crowded sites and recommend a great spot for lunch. A private tour is the best way to see the important sites in Istanbul with such time available on a cruise stop.

This private tour was extremely good for the price. Gazeem was a wonderful guide. She took great care of us navigate the Grand Bizarre. She had excellent information at all of the sights. We visited Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern Hippodrome etc. This was the best way to get to know Istanbul

If you like to join this private tour from the Galata Port (Istanbul's only Cruise Port) Please follow these instructions: After you aboard the cruise ship please follow the City Center sign and you will see your private guide holding a sign with your name on it at the city center sign exit. If you use lift please press the ''G'' level, that will take you to the City Center Exit. Please type ''Galataport Istanbul'' when you choose the pick up location while booking the tour if you are traveling by cruise ship. While visiting a mosque in Istanbul, women need to cover their heads, shoulders, knees. You can carry your own scarf to cover your head but please note scarves are provided at the entrance of every mosque (available at a charge). If you are wearing leggings, tights or skirts, wraps will be provided at the entrance (available at a charge).
Men also need to cover the knees if the shorts or bermudas are over the knees.

We met up with our incredible tour guide Ayshe right at the door (top of escalator) in the port. Very easy to cover alot of ground by hopping in a private shuttle van both to and from old town where all of the sites were located. Ayshe was extremely professional, knowledgeable, a native of Istanbul, highly educated and delightful. We couldn’t ask for anything more from our tour. We were able to discuss the options with Ayshe and customize according to our wants which included a stop at a local coffee shop for a snack and Turkish coffee/tea. Despite the size of the city market Ayshe knew exactly where to go for the best quality pashminas, (gave us 3 options according to our personal budget), specific jewelry requests and high quality pottery! We asked not to visit a carpet place and this request was fully respected. We enjoyed Ayshe’s company & conversation about life, history, culture and family. Top top top notch. We travel extensively internationally and are very particular when it comes to tours. This may have been one of the best tours we have had in all of Europe! We saw Istanbul hi-lights including the Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Mosque, the underground Basilica Cistern (Best part!) & hippodrome. Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate to book! 8 hours went by too fast! Pace was perfect.

Truly private tour . I did only where I wanted to visit . Maximized my time . Picked up in an AC Mercedes Van . The rest was mostly walking because each venue was lined up walking distance of each other. Since I was Solo , I had to pay for 2 people but it was worth it . My guide female guide Ayse was wonderful , very knowledgeable! I had a wonderful day ! Tickets were additional.

This was a wonderful tour of olde Istanbul, the famous sights and ‘must see’ places that makes the city so beautiful and famous. Our fantastic guide Diana Misir explained history, culture, customs in an interesting and informative manner. She found us lovely cafe for Turkish coffee and baklava. The perfect ending to our tour!

A few hours in Istanbul with a private guide

Our guide, Ozlem, was very good and gave us much insight/history into what we saw. After visiting the major sites, we walked through some interesting alleys to a great restaurant for a delicious lunch. She made suggestions which were perfect. Our driver was very good, too, and prompt. The only downside was the traffic in Istanbul which slowed our trip. Frustrating, but unavoidable. Luckily, most of our tour was on foot.

Perfect Ending to a Perfect Cruise

Our guide met us right when we left the cruise port and our driver got us to the historic center very quickly. Our Guide was quite knowledgeable about the sites, answered all of our questions and was highly attentive. She pointed out every bump and curb so we didn't fall which was easy to do as you are always looking up at the amazing sites. I highly recommend a private tour like this versus what the cruise ship offers (cattle car format). The personal attention is worth a couple extra dollars.

We had schedule the boat tour with pick us up at the ship for 11:00 . We got out early at 10;30 and already tried to contact the boat tour company … no answers or feedback until 11;15 ..supposedly they were waiting for us at another place .. 35 minutes away in taxi .. So we had already paid $334 US for it , didn’t want to buy another tour . So we asked for a reimbursement. All week long Viator has been amazing with connecting us to very professional local guides …to bad it had to be our last one of the cruise

Best tour ever! Our guide, Hazal, was the best guide! We were a group of four. She was super knowledgeable, gave great suggestions, patient, and friendly! The van was new and very comfortable (party bus). Hazal had an itinerary for us to follow but let us customize it also. She met us as soon as we exited the cruise terminal (was holding a sign w/our name) and led us to the driver. If you are able, I would highly recommend requesting Hazal!!!

Istanbul’s a great city. Make sure you have good walking shoes and are dressed appropriately for the attractions you are visiting. If you have additional time try to also do a Hamam. Walking is faster than driving for short distances. Traffic is crazy on the European side.

Solid tour...no "extras"

Guide was very knowledgeable and patient with our group which was critical because several in our group had poor walking abilities. This tour is an intense walking experience with almost no place to sit and rest during the tours. The guide worked their best but had a hard time balancing the good and the bad walkers. Tough job for sure. Parts of it we felt a little rushed but that was probably because we were "behind" schedule. She was great in recommending good group pictures. Overall the your was about what I expected. Very good but not amazing.
