Overview

Get in touch with the great outdoors and challenge yourself on this alpine adventure climbing the saddle-shaped peak of Ma On Shan. During this hiking experience, climb up the mountain from the township, and take in stunning views of the surrounding landscape along the way. After navigating the ridge walk, make your way back down to the town of Sai Kung.

What To Expect

Meet your group and guide at Heng On MTR exit C a little before your departure time. Departure times for most days is in the late morning, but other times are available upon request. Most people prefer to take advantage of this outdoor excursion in the autumn or winter months because of the cooler weather.

Listen to your guide’s safety rules before you set off, and make sure to follow them every step of the adventure. Also, this is a great time to bring along a hands-free camera or video camera if you have one.

Begin your climb up the Ma On Shan mountain, and make your way up its twin peaks. Navigate through a ridge walk with your group before descending down to the town of Sai Kung. Your journey ends in Sai Kung, where you can decide what to do with your time afterward.

Please note: This is a strenuous hike. You should be in pretty good physical condition in order to participate.

My time in Hong Kong this time was incomplete without a journey to the mountains up north. I decided to search for some day excursions that would fulfill my thirst and appetite for a steady but challenging hike.The climb to the summit of Ma On Shan in New Territories was strenuous at times but the panoramic view of Hong Kong and the harbor towards the top was breathtaking. I was able to enjoy the ascent as well as my time with Rory. He personalized the hike to tailor to my pace and preferences. If you decide to embark on this adventure, please be prepared to traverse through rocks and boulders with variant gradients. Rory & the Wild HK team will take good care of you. Thank you mate!

Great tour and the guide was very knowledgeable about the area. I would definitely recommend this hike for anyone looking for a bit challenging but great hike in Hong Kong!
