Shoddy Service from Viator

The car company, Paradise Indochina Travel, based in Hanoi, was excellent. But do NOT book them through Viator. Book directly with the car company. Viator messed up our travel arrangements -- both coming and going. Even after I called Viator to complain, they STILL got it wrong. This almost ruined our trip. I write about this to the CEO of Trip Advisor, which owns Viator, and of course received no response. The Viator staff repeated assured me that the car would arrive but then failed -- repeatedly -- to correct the booking. Indeed when the car finally took us to our destination, they had the incorrect address (of course) even after I had informed them of the correct location multiple times. I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with Viator. The car company, however, was outstanding. The drivers were smart and safe. Just book directly and do not use Viator as a middleman.

Hi, We think that you wrote your assessment to a wrong place. The assessment here is just for the customer feedback for the transfer service (pickup timing, vehicle quality, driver skills...). This is not a place for the assessment for Viator staff or the booking platform error. The wrong place assessment will not help Viator improve but mislead, causing the misunderstanding of our future customers about our transfer services. Thank you!

Good communication regarding pickup via WhatsApp and car was nice and clean, but the driver drove erratically and unsafely. He slowed down a bit when asked, but it was a nerve wracking ride.

Dear, We thank you for your feedbacks. To be honest, still the same driver for many other rides but all of the other customers were very happy with his driving skills. Maybe you want to have a slower ride than others. We will learn from this and ask the customers before the ride start. Good luck!

Great driver, got there in expected time. He waited for me in the airport with my name on his iPad so he was easy to find. Make sure to take a picture of license, car, and driver to verify with owner of the company as they will reach out to verify.

Unprofessional and no communication

We booked this transfer from Hanoi airport to Ha Giang, as based on the reviews it seemed like a good and comfortable way to get to Ha Giang. It was not a very good experience at all. Our driver was over an hour late to pick us up from the airport - there was no communication with us, I had to message through the Viator app a number of times to figure out what was happening. Once the driver found us (they had our flight info so not sure why it was so difficult for them to find us), we were rushed to the car with again little to no communication. Once in the car, within the first 5 minutes of the drive, the driver pulled over to a vendor on the street and smoked what looked to be a bong. This made us an uncomfortable for our 5hour journey ahead and we were confused about what was going on.

Dear customers, We feel sad to hear this. However, the problem was not from our team. You booked our ride from airport to Ha Giang but gave no flight number, no contact. Although our team sent several message via Viator app to ask for your flight number (so that we would know if you would land at the domestic or international arrival). However, we got no reply from you. You booked for the ride 16:30 and our driver came to the international arrival to find the flights matching your arrival time. After 2 hours waiting but not seen you, the driver left. Then you sent us messages through Viator app 30 minutes later (since the driver left) and said you were at the domestic arrival. Indeed, we intended to refuse the ride due to your lack of information. You kept asking for help, so we reluctanly find another car nearby to help you. Instead of saying thanks to our effort, you left a negative review without telling your mistake and it is really unfair. We hope that you should think of this carefully and give all neccessary information. Doing that way, you would help the provider save the time wasted. Thank you!
