For a 12 hour trip, the day went surprisingly fast and wasn't draining or boring. The bus ride stopped for snacks and a quick look at pearl shop, we then got to the boat, and as it took off, we ate a real nice lunch. Our guide, Hieu, was informative, funny, and very entertaining. He took pictures for us and even sang. We made three stops and all were amazing. I even fed some monkeys. I highly recommend this tour and want to personally thank Hieu for being an incredible guide.

A return to HaLong Bay

We visited HaLong Bay 10 years ago on a bright clear sunny day. It was wonderful. This time - whilst we had a lovely relaxing day, the number of boats on the water had escalated and it was very busy out there. The air pollution also detracted from the experience - it was a very hazy day Even so, the transport was comfortable, the boat was clearly one of the better types available. It was clean, the amenities were clean and the staff both on the boat and the bus were friendly, engaging and helpful. Unfortunately, the bus was an hour late picking us up. As a result when we arrived on the boat, our food was served immediately, but was still cold. Overall, we still had a pleasant, relaxing day on the water, and HaLong Bay remains quite a spectacular part of the world.
