Poorly Planned Tour

Our tour started with us taking a sleeper bus to Sa Pa. Our bus left at around 9:30 PM, and we arrived in Sa Pa at around 4:15. This was a general bus from Hanoi to Sa Pa, not filled with people from the tour and we were the only ones. We were stranded in the cold and dark and did not know where to go. The tour operator answered quickly, and told us to wait until 6:00 AM to go to a restaurant where their staff would meet us. What were we supposed to do in a city where everything was closed and it was freezing outside for 1.5 hours? The operator told us our bus got in early, which makes no sense because it is about a 6 hour drive from Hanoi. A sleeper bus should not be an option if we were then to wait so many hours for the tour to begin. We arrived at the restaurant at 6 AM and had to wait in a freezing restaurant until 8 AM for the tour to start. Our guide was lovely and we had a great time with her. However, she allowed two other women join our tour, “helping us”, so I thought they were part of the tour. We sat down somewhere for a break, and they immediately started bothering us to buy something and would not stop for 10 minutes. I understand their position, but they should not have been allowed to join our tour and our guide should have said something when they were bothering us for so long. There is no plan for after the trek. We finished at 1 PM and had the rest of the day to do nothing. We were told there would be a cooking class, which there was not. Our room in the homestay had no heat and no hot water. Breakfast the next day was supposed to be at 8:00 AM, was served closer to 9. Overall, I am pretty disappointed with the poor planning and timeliness of the tour. I would not recommend this experience.
