Emre was amazing, he got called in as the original guide called in sick suddenly so even though we started little later than expected all was well in the end. The food was amazing and Emre was very informative about the history of the streets and places we visited.
Thanks for a great time

We had a fabulous food tour today with Emre. Every stop included a historical and or informational tidbit that only someone who cared and studied about each place could tell us. And the food was delicious as well.

I had an unforgettable experience on this food tour with Emre — truly one of the best guides I’ve ever had. We began with a stroll along the harbour, where he shared fascinating stories about Halifax’s history and pointed out some of the city’s iconic art pieces.
Our first stop was McKelvie’s, a historic building where we enjoyed a delicious seafood chowder that set the tone for the rest of the tour. From there, we walked to a spot serving one of the best Donairs I’ve ever tasted, while learning about the origins of shawarma and Mediterranean cuisine.
Next came a highlight for seafood lovers: fresh oysters from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island — each with its own distinct flavor. After that, I had my very first warm lobster sandwich, a unique and unforgettable taste I’ve only experienced here.
We wrapped up the tour with a scoop of ice cream from COWS, which I’m convinced is the best ice cream in Canada (believe me!).

Our tour guide Emre was amazing. He was right on time and met us exactly where we were told to meet. He had so much knowledge about Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had a personal tour with him along the Harbor walk and beyond. He took us to 5 food stops. the first was Mc Kelvies for the best Seafood Chowder we have ever had, Delicious!! Our guide Emre was able to tell us how they make the seafood chowder in great details. After that we took a slow walk to see the amazing art sites. We went to a special place to have a great sandwich called a Donair. (A Canadian sandwich from Halifax, Nova Scotia, consisting of spiced, ground beef cooked on a spit, sliced thinly, and served in a pita with chopped tomatoes, onions, and a signature sweet, tangy, creamy sauce made from condensed milk, vinegar, and garlic powder) Delicious!!. A nice walk to the Waterfront Warehouse where we had 3 different types of Oysters. My husband had tried oysters before but this was my first time. It was a new experience tasting oysters, they were good. We relaxed there a while with nice conversations. A short distance away was Dave's Lobster for a delicious Lobster Roll with butter on a soft warm roll we had a choice warm or cold lobster roll. Something we also had never had before and we chose the Warm Lobster roll. Again Delicious !!! On our last adventure we walked back to where we started to have amazing Ice Cream and Sorbet from Cows Ice Cream a cute place with a gift shop full of Cow Prints so cute. This was a wonderful experience with Emre I would recommend it to anyone and ask for Emre as your Guide. It was lovely tour.

I had the unexpected fortune to have a private food tour with Emre, as others had cancelled their reservations. I learned so much from him about Halifax, Nova Scotia and the local food scene. Emre is very fun and interesting to talk to and it’s obvious that the local vendors really like him too. All of them greeted him and me warmly.

This was first class. Great real local food (not odd novelty foods) with a knowledgeable guide. Emre gave a great history of Halifax while guiding us to each foodie stop. It was excellent.

Great food, good tour guide. Lobster rolls @daves lobsters were amazing and the seafood chowder was best ever!!
Anthony_F, Aug 2025
The tour guide was knowledgable, especially with the local history. However, we felt he skimped on the food. For example, we had to split a small sandwich between the two of us at one restaurant. Also at the desert stop, we were only allowed one scoop of ice cream, while two scoops was only $2 more. For what we paid for the tour this is ridiculous.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that there was some confusion regarding the food portions on our tour. We’d like to clarify that the concept of our food experience is to sample a variety of local flavors throughout the day. To make sure guests can comfortably enjoy each stop without being overly full, some tastings—such as the sandwich—are served in half portions. This way, you have the chance to try many different dishes during the tour.
Please rest assured that nothing was reduced from your experience, and all tastings are included as part of the designed itinerary. We truly value your comments and will make sure our guides explain this concept even more clearly at the beginning of the tour.
We hope you still enjoyed discovering the local food scene with us, and we’d be delighted to welcome you again for another culinary journey.

Halifax is quite hilly so if you have trouble walking it might be taxing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Naveen_T, Jul 2025
Emre was a super knowledgeable guide, explaining the food and history around Halifax super well. He makes sure to take you around the important areas of Halifax while providing additional food/activity recommendations in addition to the spots on the tour. He's also understanding and wants to cater to the needs of whoever joins the tour. The food itself, quite tasty and flavourful, is exactly the kind of representative sample anybody needs for their first time in Halifax!

Emine was a fantastic guide, we enjoyed each and every spot. We weren't too sure about oysters but even they were great. Fantastic way to learn the city. Emine shared lots of history and interesting details about Halifax. We had fun talking with her and walking around, even with the rain and some wind!!
