An informative tour at a leisurely pace!. It was a really hot day but Zack found shade to keep us cool every time he stopped to tell us some history or point out architecture. We went from the harbofront to the Citadel gradually. It is an excellent orientation and introduction to Halifax.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Susan Saturday was our hottest day so far this year . Victors knowledge of our geography and historic buildings along with our exceptional trees even in downtown Im sure helped, with finding shade.
We are grateful you joined the Historic Halifax on foot tour. We are so very proud of our exceptionally knowledgeable guides

This tour gave us a great background of the history of HalifX and all of Nova Scotia. The walk was not very strenuous and we saw the highlights of Halifax with time to take a break and refresh. The director was knowledgeable, fun, and accommodating to all. I don't recommend this tour for kids. The family in our group needed to leave partway through. Not great fun for most kids.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thanks Jane for your kind words , the weather was not on our side that day . Our guides Victor and Adrienne have a wealth of knowledge and pride for their city.
John_B, Jun 2026
Pretty standard tour hitting the highlights downtown. Fog and rain didn't help, but Victor did his best to make this a positive experience. Probably a bit too much walking for young children or those with mobility issues. We lost 50% of our group during the tour.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thanks so much John
the weather was not on our side that day .
Victor is so knowledgeable about our city and always as a great anecdote and great pride.

MaureensAccount, Jun 2026
The pace was good, but not advisable for anyone with mobility issues. Our guide, Kris, communicated well. My favorite was the Public Gardens, where the tulips, rhododendrons and azaleas were in bloom in early June.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
The Rhodo's in the Public Gardens are a thing of beauty in June we are so glad you enjoyed Kris's tour and our beautiful city
RDenis_B, Jun 2026
The tour itself was very thorough, informative with some humour mixed in. Duncan was superb. He provided so much knowledge of the history of Halifax and of other locations in Nova Scotia. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.

4.5 ish stars. Very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable guide - he was 5 stars! The content of the tour however i'd say was 4 out of 5, good (I appreciated the photos showing us people and places under discussion and good pace) but not amazing. I would recommend it for an intro to the area for a first time visitor but unlike some other history tours I've done, this was more a collection of facts and dates and less telling a cohesive story of the area or taking you 'off the beaten path'. It certainly was convenient to be led around the highlights of downtown but it also felt like you could have DIYed it by reading the public plaques. Still definitely a nice morning!
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thanks for your review and feedback Sarah. we will bring back to the guide .
Hope you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful city.
Kenneth_M, May 2026
The stories about the history, characters, and events were skillfully related by our guide. You do walk a fair amount, but it wasn’t a problem. If you have a dog, you’re not allowed in the Halifax Public Garden, so you might discuss this with your guide. They asked us to leave, but in the end let us stay with the tour (but the official stayed behind us and made sure we went directly out without stopping). This was so interesting with so many good stories told so well.
halestreet7, May 2026
Our guide was Duncan - very knowledgeable about Halifax history and shared many interesting facts and figures. He clearly loves the area and was generous with his time.
Patti_S, May 2026
This was a great tour, Glenn was very informative and made the tour interesting, timely and would relate different stories as we passed each site. Some sites connected to previous sites and by the end we had a good understanding of the sites and history of the area. The walk itself was easy and had a few breaks for anyone that might need a rest. I would highly recommend this tour and if Glenn is your guide you are in good hands.
Response from Host, May 2026
Patti S we are grateful for this review , we are very proud of the skills and breadth of knowledge of our guides sharing the history of our wonderful city .
Rachel_L, Oct 2025
Definitely worth your time! Very fun, and the guide was very informative. You see a lot of the city landmarks and learn a lot about Halifax history. We only had a few hours in the city as a cruise port, and it felt like a good use of it.
Maureen_B, Oct 2025
This was a fast-paced, super-interesting walk through highlights of old Halifax, covering many historical buildings and events. Our guide was informative and answered questions with details of the area. Most enjoyable!
Nancy_A, Oct 2025

Victor was a super knowledgeable and gracious host. I learned a lot about Halifax’s history and saw some wonderful sites. The day was gorgeous. Definitely recommend
Dottie_J, Oct 2025
The description clearly states that we needed to be physically fitted enough to walk for this 2 1/2 hour guided tour. My husband and had taken two guided tours by foot earlier on our trip, and they were great. This tour, however, was a "race to get done." Our guide, Chris, took a 2 1/2 hour tour and made it 2 hours, uphill from the get go. There were stops for a minute or two. We asked him to slow down, and he did, a little.
I don't understand why we went straight up. When we were coming back we through other streets which would of lessened the straight up.
Also, it was hard to take pictures because Chris was off again. The tour started at 9:45 and we were done by 11:50. We walked all over Europe earlier this year, we can walk, but this was not a walk. This was a waste of money.

Victor our guide was very knowledgeable, caring and very helpful. We enjoyed our visit very much. Thank you 🙏
Wilma_P, Sep 2025

Gerald_C, Sep 2025
Victor was very knowledgeable, friendly, and gave a great walking tour of Halifax! Great city! Loved it!
Andrew_W, Sep 2025
Victor was superb. Retired high school teacher and font of local knowledge - just what you want on any tour. We really enjoyed it. Oh and good route to the top of Halifax without even noticing we were going uphill.
Yevgeniya_B, Sep 2025
Gregg is an outstanding guide. We have learned a great deal of history of Halifax. I was a very pleasant walk around beautiful city.
Cameron_N, Sep 2025
It is disappointing if historical information is not revealed. Our guide spoke more about bars and restaurants than Canadian Nova Scotia history.
